“We had auditions for “Tea and Sympathy” yesterday afternoon. The turnout was very disappointing. There were some actors that I was counting on to be there. They didn’t show up. I sincerely hope that they have a change of heart and arrive this evening.”
She then continued her normal class. When the class was finally near completion, she made an announcement.
“I would like to see Mr. Mason after everyone leaves.”
My stomach turned over. I braced for the worst. The class filed out and I was left alone with her. There was a deafening silence in the room. Then she asked, “Why didn’t you come to the auditions last night?”
