Our world revolved around Ava. Ilka and I spent hours in the evening working with Ava on her homework. She excelled in school. By the time she was ready to enter high school, she had been accepted in one of the best private high schools in West Palm Beach. When she reached her senior year, she was the valedictorian of her class. Ava delivered the valedictory address at the commencement exercises. Ava was accepted at every university where she applied. After careful consideration, Ava selected the university Ilka and I had attended. We could not have been more proud. In the fall, I took Ava to college.
