I smiled softly at hearing his small "okay" before we exchanged goodbyes. I went in my car and drove off to the nearest supermarket. With more urgency, I walked down the aisle faster, trying to get all the ingredients I needed to make Azrien's favourite dish. I had just gotten home half an hour ago when Azrien begged me to make his favourite food which included ingredients we didn't have at home. But me being me, I was never able to say no to him. Especially when he gives me his puppy eyes. Of course, I was a little bit hesitant to leave him at home by himself and I could've taken him with me but he managed to convince me to let him stay. At just the age of five years old, the little boy was already manipulating me to get his way. I was in and out of the store within twenty minutes, practically running towards my car. I was unaware of my surroundings as I tried putting all the things in the trunk of the car as quickly as I could. Just as I was putting in the last bag, I felt two pairs of hands grab me from behind. My immediate reaction was to scream as loud as I could, struggling in their grip with as much strength as I could muster. I wasn't able to fight them long, one of them putting a cloth up to my nose and mouth, the cloth undoubtedly doused in chloroform as my vision started to blur, my limbs growing weak. The last thought I had before I completely lost consciousness was of my son. I awoke with a start, lifting my head to look around the room, squinting at the bright lights. My body started shaking as I felt the rope around my wrists and ankles, knowing that I wasn't going to be able to escape so easily. With no way out, I felt the tears in my eyes well up, the only thing on my mind was getting out of here and back to my son. Calming myself down from an oncoming panic attack, I looked around at my surroundings; the walls were painted a pure white, bookshelves lining one wall, a desk a few feet away, and one lone window off to the side. If I wasn't tied up and practically fearing for my life, I would've admired the decor more. My head snapped to the front door as I heard deep voices talking on the other side before it opened up. My mouth ran dry, my skin paled and my eyes widened at seeing the man that walked in. Cadden Isaiah Miller. A week ago. Ugh, that's just what I needed, rain. I thought to myself, a frown on my face as I looked out the café windows. I hadn't brought an umbrella with me since the café was only a short walk away from my office. I ran over here quickly to get some coffee, thinking it wouldn't rain but with my "luck", it started pouring when I was on my way out. I looked down at my watch, seeing that I had about fifteen minutes until my break was over. With a sigh, I turned back around to go look for a seat, not seeing the man behind me as I turned around, bumping into him and spilling the coffee he had in his hands all over his shirt. "What the f**k? Watch where you're-" He exclaimed angrily, cutting himself off for some reason. "I am so sorry. Oh my god, it's all over your shirt." I apologized profusely and reached for some napkins to clean up the mess I created on his shirt. "Yanna?" I looked up from cleaning his shirt at the sound of my nickname, my eyes wide as I stared back into a pair of big round eyes I would never be able to forget, "Cadden?" He smiled widely, a small laugh leaving his lips, "Holy s**t, it really is you! How long has it been?" "Uh, I think it's been about 5 years," I told him, a small smile on my face. We stayed standing there, not a word being said between the both of us until I spoke up again, "I'm sorry about the shirt..." I said but he waved his hand, dismissing my apology. "Don't worry about it, it's black so you can't really see it." "Still..." I awkwardly said. "I'll tell you what, make it up to me by buying me a new cup of coffee and sitting down with me." I hesitated, looking down at my watch and noticing that I only had ten minutes till my break was over. It took about three minutes to get back to my office if I ran so that gave me at least seven minutes but knowing Cadden, he'd want me to stay longer. "I only have ten minutes till my break is over, Cade," I said, using the nickname I had used with him unintentionally since the two of us were together all that time ago. His face visibly softened at the sound of the nickname, the grin on his face widening, "I only need five." After that day, Cadden texted me almost every day. My job and Azrien kept me busy 24/7 so I never really had time to meet up with him. But he had been very persistent with meeting up for some time but I just never figured out when Azrien being my priority in life everything else came second, him included. What I never imagined was getting freaking kidnapped and the first man I see is my ex-boyfriend. My heart dropped to the pit of my stomach, figuring out that he was behind all this. "Cadden, what the hell?" I questioned while glaring at him, still not believing any of this. "Sorry I had to bring you in like that. If you haven't changed in the past five years, then you would've put up a fight about coming with me and I just," He sighed, leaning against the wall, "I couldn't be bothered." "So you kidnapped me instead? Cadden, have you gone completely mad? Let me go!" "It was the only way for me to get you back." "You could've just asked me to go out with you again! What kind of psycho have you become!" "I'm not going to let you slip through my fingers! Not again!" He yelled, his voice booming and bouncing off the walls of the room. I flinched back at the anger in his voice, my trembling getting worse by the minutes, "Cade, please," "Look, you can be happy here. You can have anything you want, all you have to do is ask. The only thing you have to do is stay here, with me. That's not a hard thing to do." He sighed, seeing how shaken up I was. "So I'd be your hostage?" He said nothing, avoiding eye contact as he looked anywhere but me. "What kind of life would that be? I can't live like that, you know me. Let me go, please." I pleaded with him, my voice barely above a whisper. "No." By that, I lost my temper. "For f**k's sake Cadden Isaiah! You were the one that left me!" "I had no other choice!" "Bulls**t!" I sneered out, now angry with him, "You've always had a choice, you just chose wrong." The room fell silent, my words digging deep into his mind. I could see his jaw clenching and unclenching as he thought over his next words, an unfamiliar look in his eyes. At this point, I had no idea who this man was, this man is the total opposite of the man I knew years ago. This man was a stranger to me and I have no intentions of getting to know the man Cadden had become. "You're staying with me and that's final. You can fight me all you want but I'm not letting you go." With that he turned his back on me, heading towards the door. Azrien's face suddenly flashed in my mind, reminding me of how desperately I needed to get out of here. "Cadden..." I called out, my voice raw with emotions, he froze just before opening the door, "Please, please let me go. I'm begging you... I-I have a son. Please." His head snapped back at me. "W-what?" "He's all alone. He needs his mother... h-he's only five. He can't be alone for too long." I pleaded, tears streaming down my face. "He's five..." He trailed off, deep in thought before it finally clicked, "D-does that mean..." I nodded desperately. "Yes. He's yours. Now let me go. If not for me do it for him, my son, your son." He looked dumbfounded, having trouble believing that he had a son. Without a word, he left the room in a hurry, leaving me all alone and shocked. "Cadden! You son of a b***h! Let me go!" I yelled out as loud as I could, struggling against the binds on my wrists and ankles. "Cadden!"
