“How do you forget to do something like pay your staff?” James asked Thursday at guys’ night. Besides being one of my closest friends and a local cop, he was kind of an a*s. But he was the kind that made you laugh because he only acted that way with the people he was close to. He was also compassionate and understanding. He caught Joey stealing two years ago and instead of hauling him off to jail, James gave Joey a second chance and a year later, helped me hire him.
