Dinner was going smoothly, and everyone was getting along great. The conversations were light-hearted and there was no more mention of the situation that happened earlier.
However, it didn't stop me from being on edge the whole time. My eyes were constantly scanning the room, and Derrick caught on after a while.
"Stop worrying. If anyone was here, they would have made it known already. Relax and enjoy yourself, babe. You are in good hands," he said with a smile.
