Time passed quickly in the train, as Arken was caught in between losing himself in his thoughts and excitedly looking around at the train. Heather seemed to be sleeping, but Arken would bet that she was meditating. In reality:
What is up with this kid, everytime I look at him, he gives off a different feeling. It's like he's two people. Moreover, he doesn't seem to know about Gardein Royal Academy, was he just living very far away, or is there something else.
The train came to a halt, and Heather got up, Arken following suit. However, he did not expect that there would be even more people on the streets of the city than in the train. He followed closely behind Heather as she waded her way through the crowd.
Eventually, they made it through the crowd as they got closer to the academy, It seems that the hero academy isn't that popu- . Arken didn't get to finish that thought as he looked at the humongous gate filled with people and had an obnoxiously bright atmosphere around the whole thing.
The entire place was filled with moving crowds that were all over the place and yet there was no contact between the people.
"Let's go" Heather motioned at Arken, breaking his daze, before he resumed a stone-faced expression and headed into the academy. Heather seemed to meld into the rhythm and Arken followed closely behind. After they got out from the front gate, the crowd seemed to dissolve, but the grounds were still busy.
Buildings were everywhere, with pathways, and gardens in between. There were people everywhere, laughing, chatting, and just messing around. The whole place was very lively. Arken continued behind Heather until they made it to a white spire whose top seemed to disappear beyond the clouds.
Heather led Arken in, and took a hallway down, finally turning into a door. It was a waiting room, he guessed, by the many chairs there.
"Wait here" Without another word, she left Arken there, disappearing into the door at the side of the waiting room. Arken sat down and brooded over the fact that his butt hurt from the train ride. After shaking his head, he started to drown in his thoughts.
Since I have magic now, I should be able to grow. I'll have to find a place to use the Compressed Blood Stone. But what magic should I mainly use? As much as Arken would like to start off directly by learning multiple magics like his last life, he was not stupid.
The new body could not handle to start off the way that he had before. Though, if he used his Compressed Blood Stone before he chose, he would be able to choose a higher tier magic as his base magic. As he ruminated through the options, Heather appeared in front of him.
"Ready?" Arken looked up and nodded, then got up and followed Heather through the door that she had went through earlier. They entered a decent sized room with a screen in front of an orb on a stand. An affinity test? There was an old man off to the side looking at a metal box that was...glowing?
"Go" The old dude had a gravelly voice, very jarring. Arken went forward and stopped in front of the stand. He put his hand on the orb in one smooth motion and injected mana into it without needing instruction from the old man.
The old man merely raised a brow in response, and continued to look at his glowing box. After merely a few seconds, Arken started to sweat, droplets running down from his forehead into his eyes, stinging them, but he didn't stop. Only after a minute did the old man finally say,
"Stop" Arken let out a sigh of relief as he dropped his hand, his body shaking a bit. He turned to look at the old man who was evaluating the results.
"Strange" The old man finally stopped looking at the box, just to look at Arken. Arken did not tense up, as that would be more suspicious. The man peered before looking down again to confirm something.
"You obviously don't have much mana, but the most compatible magic for you is pass casting magic" Huh? Arken was dumbfounded. Thankfully, the old man took it as confusion for what it was.
"Pass casting is a rare type of support magic that can help other's cast if they are in the middle of combat, it doesn't matter the type of magic, basically you are a holder, who takes other's cast, completes them, and sends them back, so that they have time to do other things, and can instant cast. But it does drain quite a bit of mana to do even the little spells."
Arken wanted to throttle something, he was the past tyrant of the world! But now he was given an affinity for pass casting!?!?!? Though it was highly valued, and parties often treated those with the affinity as treasures, it was not ideal for someone who wanted to rule the world or cause chaos and havoc.
Arken didn't completely lose his head though because, Even though I don't like it, it does help create a cover for me, if anyone were to get close, moreover, powerful people will attempt to get close to me, and I could make quite a fortune, but!
Arken wanted to cry, but he didn't let it show, rather, he nodded his head at the old man's explanation, and walked out the door afterwards, Heather following behind.
"Wow! That really is something, you know you are going to be a very popular person. Thank goodness you had a special affinity! I thought that I would have to pull some strings to get you into the academy." Arken tried not to hit the brash person beside him. She was a little too honest sometimes for Arken's liking.
"Anyways, here is your ID" She handed him a black card that had gold writing on it. It had his name and picture as well as Tier 0 and what magic he was proficient in on it.
"You looking at the Tier? That is something that you upgrade through fully completing a course, completing missions, or winning tournaments. The higher tier, the more privilege's you get. It doesn't matter on how old you are or how much talent you have, only those who earn points can get to the next tier"
Heather explained as they walked out of the building and headed towards a couple of close buildings. "Those are the dormitories, since your a tier 0 student, you'll stay in Dormitory 0" Arken looked at her, displeased with staying at such a place.
"Feeling discriminated against? That is how everyone feels at the beginning, it is to help make the students work harder, or at least, that is what the teachers say" She handed over a key with a number on it, "I have to go, I'll be back later!" She waved at Arken and left, running off, and creating quite a scene as many people started to look over.
0311, that was his room number. After making it into the building, he found the door that had stairs, and headed up to the 3rd floor. Arken found the room number and opened the door.
