Alison
It has been a week since I had stayed at the Jackson’s household. My leg still had a cast around it. It was signed by Ashley, Jace and his cousin from Sweden Grace. She has been the nicest person, she had long blue hair and lovely brown eyes.
It was time for me to go home. I wasn’t very excited but I need to leave, I have been gone for too long. I have avoided Blake the entire time here. I just didn’t want any more problem then I already have. I didn’t worry about the other because I know they will forget about me when I leave this massive building.
I was currently down stairs, a back pack filled with Ashley’s clothes that she didn’t need, and said looked ‘amazing’ on me. I held into my crutches, provided by the doctor and wobbled to the front door. I opened the front door and was surprised to see Blake standing there.
I could not help but gaze my eye down his toned, shirtless body. The muscles around his torso clenched. I could feel my face turning red as I stared at him. I looked back at him, the smug smile plastered on his face.
Shit, he saw me check him out, I could I be so stupid and done is so publicly.
“Why don’t you stay for another day or so?” He asked. His rough voice, almost made me drop to my knees. Good thing I had crutches.
“I can’t. My Dad will start to worry,” I lied, as the offer sounded tempting but I just couldn’t risk it.
“Understandable. How are you getting home?”
“I was hoping to go the main road and call a taxi to pick me up,” I stated my plan. This house is strange, it was in the middle of the forest that I visit. I went to the lake a couple time when I was here.
“I can take you home,” Blake said. My eyes widen, NO. He can’t take me home. He doesn’t need to know where I live.
“It’s fine, really. You don’t need to,” I replied.
“Come on Ali, I would be more comfortable if you went with him,” Ashley said. I forgot they were still here.
“Ok, fine.”
Blake smiled and gave me way to leave the house. I looked behind me where the girls and Jace stood there. I smiled at them, knowing that today may be my last day on earth. I wobbled out and saw him jump in the grey Jeep that was parked outside the house.
I got in and sat in silence. He leaned over to my side. The closeness of him made me hold my breath, I could feel his breathe on my face. Oh God. What is happening?
He reached to the side of my face, I would not help but flinch. Praying that he did not see that. I heard a click. And he retreated back to his seat.
“Safety first,” he stated as a smirk played on his face.
I let out the breath that I was holding and he speed off. He never asked for my address but he knew where he was going. How did he know where I lived?
He pulled over to the side. I started to panic. My breaths started to quicken.
“Take a deep breath. That’s it inhale and then exhale,” he guided me.
“What are you doing?” I asked. Is he going to kill me? Hurt me? I don’t know what is happening.
“I just wanted to talk. You have ignored me the entire time you stayed at my house. I want to know why.”
“I don’t know,” I lied. I knew why, but I just can’t tell him.
“Don’t lie to me.”
“I’m not lying.” Of course I am.
“Tell me,” he demanded.
“WHY? It is because you’re Blake Jackson. You have the power to turn my live into hell, which I don’t need. So I stayed away to not cause more trouble than I already have.” I exploded. I didn’t know what came over me. I placed my hand over my mouth. I can’t believe I just said that.
He started at me. How could I be so stupid?
“I could never do that. I really want to know you and be your friend,” he said sadly. “But I understand if you don’t want to be my friend.”
I didn’t know what to say. I want to be his friend. There is something about him that I can’t help but feel attracted to. Like a pull.
“I do want to be friends, but you need to go easy on me. I’m new to the whole friendship thing,” I replied. I really did want to get to know him. Like really know him.
He smile and nodded. “Friends.” With that said he reached his hand out, asking for a hand shake. I took his hand and shook it. The tingled went up my arm and I quickly pulled away.
He restarted the car, and drove off.
As he turned into my street. I was praying that he would not be home.
I guess God did not hear my prayers as his car was parked in the drive way. I stayed frozen. I didn’t want to go down.
“Are you okay?” Blake asked, snapping me out of my thoughts. I nodded and I exited the car. I wobbled to the door and opened it with the keys that I had.
As I walked in, I heard the car drive off. The house was still a mess the broken glass was uncleaned and remained on the floor. Dry blood was seen on the wall. Great.
I heard stumbling in the living and my father came to my view. He stood there drunk and angry with a bottle in his hands. Fury hooded his eyes.
“Where have you been?” He asked angrily.
“I messaged you about the school camp,” I replied. His eyes travelled to the back pack and back to my leg.
“You think that you can lie to me. You think I can’t smell him on you.” Smell? Smell who? I could not reply as he grabbed me by the hair. Making my crutches fall to the ground.
He smashed my head against the wall, I could see the stars. He grabbed the fall crutch, he lifted it about his head and brought it down to my body. Over the broken leg, then to my torso and to my back. Repeatedly until he had enough. He walked to the kitchen, opened the fridge and got a cold beer. He walk toward me and kneeled to my height.
“You think you can lie to me. This is what you get for being a slut,” he said. He got up and spat at me and walked to the living room. Planting himself on the couch.
I got up slowly trying not to wince. Collected the crutches and walked up the stairs. Walked into my room, and headed straight to the bathroom. Slowly washing the now dried blood and see the new bruises form.
I had no energy to change. I climbed into my bed and started at the ceiling. Despite everything that has happened I could not but think about Blake. Would he help me escape this nightmare? I closed my eyes and darkness took over me.
Waking up the next day was a b***h. My body ached as I got up from the small broken bed. I looked into the mirror and saw the new bruises and cuts that invaded the areas of my face, hands and the stable leg. I went to shower, hissing as the boiling hot water grazed the bruises.
When I finished showering I walked to the travel bag that was given to me by Ashley. It had many beautiful clothing but I could not wear them as they would draw unwanted attention. I grabbed my normal jumper and pants, slipped on my sneaker and headed downstairs.
Reaching down the stairs, I realised that it was oddly silent. He wasn’t here, thankfully, he must have gone to work. I have been living here for the past few years and I still don’t know what is occupation is. I always wondered how a man like him can a decent job.
I took an apple from the bowl, placed it in my bag and headed out. The walk to school was soothing, listening to the music that blasted through my headphones. Today seemed like a good day.
Arriving at school, I saw that Lucy was not anywhere near my locker. That’s odd. Firstly, my father wasn’t home and now Lucy isn’t here. God must be looking out for me today. Shaking the feeling that rested on my gut and proceeded into opening my locker.
I saw shadows hover over me, turning around slowly, I was greeted by Jace, Grace and Ashley. I was glad to see them, but felt disappointed to see Blake was not here with them. Grabbing what I need. I closed the locker door.
“Hey,” I said confused, what is going on?
“Hey,” they replied in unison.
Ashely stood tall in a pink skirt, a white basic top and white boots that covered her ankles. Her hair was placed high in a ponytail with a cute pink bow. Grace wore her red shirt, black ripped jeans and combat boots. She straighten her long blue hair and wore a jean jacket. Jace wore a navy jeans with a plain white shirt, hair was slicked to the side with white sneakers.
“Is something wrong?” I questioned. I know we got close when I was spending time at Jackson’s but I thought they would leave me alone afterwards.
“What do you mean? We are walking to class,” Ashely replied.
“No thank you.”
They stood there gaped. “Why not?” Grace broke the silence.
Sighing I replied: “If you don’t already know. I have no friends, and I am okay with that. So me hanging out with you, guys. The most well popular people in the school, will bring attention that I don’t need. I just need to focus on my studies get a good score, and leave this town.”
“Well, I don’t care about what other people say. I want to hang with you because you are a great person and great to be around with,” Ashley replied. They nodded.
“Do you really hate this place?” Jace asked.
I nodded. “This place has done nothing but bring me pain.”
Grace nodded. She understood, somehow. I don’t know her personally but she seemed to know a lot about pain.
“So can we have lunch together?” Ashley asked again. I wanted to say no but my mouth did not move. She had sadness in her eyes, breaking my frozen heart a little.
“Yeah, we can have lunch together,” the girls smiled and wrapped their arms around mine. We began to walk.
“What happened to your face?” Jace asked. I froze in my spot. I covered it well. Think. Think.
“Nothing important. I have book shelve in my room and I was reaching for a book, it fell on my face and the shelf collapsed.” I cannot believe that it can out smoothly. Lying is normal to me. There are time I start to believe the lies I tell.
“Are you sure?” Grace asked. She knew I was lying. She know what a punch would look like. According to Ashley she was moved her by her mother because she was involved in Gangs back in her hometown.
“Yeah. I am sure. Don’t you guys trust me?” I said.
“We trust you. But we also care about you. Whatever you are going through, let us know and we can help you. No matter what.” Jace said, tears gathered in my eyes as I tried to blink them away. They can’t help me, no one can.
The bell rang and we began to move toward the classes.
Blake
It was the next day. Today felt like a good day. I did my normal routine and went to school. The only reason I was excited was because she was in all my classes. I get to speak to her. I don’t like the idea of us just being friends but it is better than nothing.
Walking late to school I see Jace, my sister and Grace gathered around Alison’s locker. Chatting. I didn’t bother listening in on what they were saying.
She was beautiful and she didn’t even know it. She had a heart of gold, humble and absolutely gorgeous. From where I was standing, grey areas that were badly covered were seen on her eye and temple.
I could hear Jace asking the question that I played in my head. The lie that come out of her made me want to go there and demand the truth. What kind of animal would hurt her? Such a beautiful soul.
Jace looked at me and nodded. Knowing that I just heard her s**t lies. The bell went. They started to walk to class.
I began to walk as well, when I saw Lucy.
She was on the phone. I could not hear what the other was saying.
“Meet me tonight to discuss everything. The usual place.”
“It’s about her. The one I sent you a photo of.”
“She is his mate. I want her gone.”
“Make me proud,” she commented and hanged up. She glances around, I hid quickly behind the wall. She began to walk to the class.
Who was she talking to? Was is about Alison? What is happening? The unsettling feeling danced around in my gut. Something is going down. I know it.
