Chapter nine: Manya

"She isn't old enough for this yet! She's only 18! This shouldn't happen till she is 20." It is Ace talking but I don't know who he is talking to and I can't open my eyes to even see, the pain is to bad." "She is special Ace, you know this, she has Alpha blood in her. She's going to change faster. Plus she's met her mate, which is honestly what more than likely triggered it." It's Mike talking now, but I'm really lost, mate..20..I'm confused. I hear Ace sigh. "I shouldn't of gotten near her yet, I knew I shouldn't of." Ace says and I can feel the sadness in his voice and I want to comfort him but I can't. "Listen Ace you did what you felt you needed to do, and to be with her was that. You can't leave her now though, not with what's about to come, because all the male wolves are going to be smelling her a mile away." I feel the bed sink down and feel a hand grab mine. I feel the little jolt of electricity and I know it's Ace. When he touches me the pain eased a little and I can open my eyes. "Hey beautiful." Ace kisses me and I close my eyes because every time he touches me the pain goes away someWhat.. was.. you.. talking..about.." I look at Ace because he is right in front of me. "I will tell you as soon as the pain goes away okay?" I nod and then drift into a dreamless sleep.

My eyes flutter open and I roll over. Thank god I can move now. I hit a hard wall and try and focus my eyes, when they finally do everything is clear. I can see the defined mussels on Aces back, and every stand of his hair and the stitches on his arm. Wait, stitches on Ace's arm. I reach over and touch them and a jolt like I had never felt before buzzes through me. I jump back a little and try and focus on my hand. Instead though I can hear everything, I can hear the birds chirping outside the window, people talking down stairs, this is weird. I feel Ace move beside me and I look at him. As soon as his eyes open and he sees me he jumps up. "Manya!" He says and grabs me. I hug him back. "I was only asleep for a couple hours Ace." I say laughing. He pulls me back so we are looking eye to eye. "Manya you was asleep for a week." What?! No way I was asleep for a week. I look around then I hear a voice that isn't mine. "Sorry dear took longer than expected to wake up." I look around looking for the owner of the voice. "I'm in your head." It echoes again. I keep looking around and Ace is watching me. "Manya we need to talk, tonight is a big night for you." I stop looking around and look at him. "What do you mean?" “Okay so the voice in your head that you hear? That is your wolf.” I look at him like he was crazy. “I promise I'm not crazy, just talk in your head, you will get an answer.” “He is f*****g nuts I say.” “No Hun, he is right.” The voice in my head answers back. My eyes get big. Ace grabs my hand and I'm too shocked to pull back. “It’s okay.” I look at him with big eyes. “Why is there a voice in my head that I can’t control?” “I can't answer that….your brother wants to.” Ace says. In my head I can faintly hear a wolf howl. I must be going crazy.

“Mike you better stop stalling, I want to know why I'm going crazy.” “You aren't going crazy Manya. This is just hard to tell you right now, I wanted you to get used to us first.” Mike puts his head in his hands. “Mike I'm going nuts, if you know what's happening you need to tell me!” I yell not meaning to. “So you say you hear a voice in your head that is talking to you correct?” “Yes.” I answer starting to get annoyed. “Okay, Manya don't be freaked out, but we,” He waves his hand around the room,” We can shift into wolves.” He watches me carefully. I start laughing. “You're crazy.” I laugh even harder. “Manya I'm not joking.” He is very serious. This makes me laugh even harder. “You turn into wolves?!” I keep laughing. “Manya have dogs ever followed you? Cats don't like you. You can see better, hear better.” I look at him. “You and Ace are crazy!” I say. Mike reaches for my hand but I pull away. “Don't touch me.” I say and start shaking. “You better get outside sweetie, we are going for a run.” The sweet female voice in my head says. I stand up shaking and can hardly hear Ace and Mike yelling after me as I run out the door. “Manya come back!” I faintly hear Ace yell. As soon as I get outside I hear loud cracking, and popping and I fall to the ground in pain. Everything hurts. “Relax Hun, this won't hurt as much.” The voice soothes me. I do as she says even though I think I'm going nuts. I close my eyes and let the pain sweep over me, and as soon as it starts it stops. I open my eyes and I'm on the ground. I look around and Ace and Mike are just standing at the door looking at me. “Don't just stare at me you weirdos.” I try and say but I hear a bark instead of my voice. I look down and where my hands were just moments before are huge white paws. I stand up and I'm on four legs not two. I look around. I’m a wolf. Wolf..wolf..I just turned into a wolf, in the back yard. I look at Mike with panic in my eyes. He slowly steps off of the porch, and walks towards me. I try and tell him to stop so I don't hurt him but it comes out as a growl. I look around when I hear it and bow my head. This doesn't stop Mike though. He keeps walking towards me, and slowly puts his hand out. I sniff it, he smells like earth, and it eases me. I put my head in his hand and he pets me. I was so caught up in the moment that I didn't  notice that where Ace was standing was now a huge brown wolf. I look at him. “Can you hear me?” I hear his voice echo in my head. I tilt my head confused. “Just talk in your head and direct it towards me, I'll hear it.” His voice echos again. “What am I?” I ask. I hear him laugh and it makes me feel warm inside. I smile then I hear tires on the road in front of the house. I look and while I'm looking Ace shifts back to human form. I sniff the air to see what I smell and all I get is a strong perfume smell that makes me sneeze. Mike smile at me sneezing, and it agitates me that he finds it funny, so I growl at him. This makes him laugh even more. 

While I'm growling at Mike I see Becky walk around the corner. She walks over to Ace and wraps her arms around him. He tries to peel her off but she just latches back on. I sit watching this as the anger and hurt washes through me. I just sit watching until I can't anymore. I stand up and stretch some. “Let's go run.” I say hoping my wolf will reply and not Ace. “Yes.” Was the only response I got, and I can tell she is upset also. I look around for the nearest woods and take off running.
