Hidden Secret

Chapter ten : Manya

I run for hours, not sure where I'm going, I just run. After about three hours of running, stopping then running again I smell the smell of fire. I look around and decide to go investigate. I trot through the woods, knowing my wolf body is sure footed and I won't fall. I get to the edge of a clearing and see houses, all surrounding a fire in the middle. Young kids were dancing and playing and telling stories. I sit down and just watch, amazed at how much fun they were having. As I'm sitting there watching I hear a loud low growl. “You get up slowly, and I won't kill you.” The voice echos in my head. I know it's another wolf because this one smells of pine and like water? Does water have a smell? While I'm thinking of this I do as he says. I stand slowly and turn around. Standing behind me is a large brown wolf with black spots. I look at him trying to see something human in this wolf, but I have no luck. “Walk into the clearing and to the big house in the middle.” The man's voice echos. I do as he says and slowly start walking. All the kids that were playing and dancing where all now stopped and standing behind their moms and dads. I walk and finally see the big house in the middle of all the other houses. “If you make any untold move I will kill you.” The man echos in my head. “He is no match for us sweetheart no worries.” My wolf says to me. This makes me giggle. When I get to the steps leading to the house I stop. Out walks a wolf that is a light brown color, with glowing purple eyes. This wolf smells only of pine and nothing else. I tilt my head to the side and look at him. He look so familiar. “Who are you.” The new voice echos. I look at him. “Who are you?’’ I ask. Both the wolves look taken aback. “My name is Toby, alpha of the Knights pack. Now you are?” That name sounds familiar but I just can't remember. I stand up a little straighter, I'm not sure why , but I do. “Manya King.” I say. The alpha's eyes soften. “Manya it's me Toby, I gave you a ride home the other day.” Now I remember. “Why are you out this far away from home?” “I changed for the first time was scared, and I was upset so I ran. I smelled the fire and came to see what it was. I was just sitting watching about to leave when your buddy, found me.” I look back at the wolf behind me who looks embarrassed. “Well you don't smell of a pack. So we thought you was a rough.” I nod. “Do you know how to change back?” His voice echos. I shake my head. He looks at the old who found me and says something and the wolf runs off. “He is going to get you some clothes then we will get you changed back.” I nod and wait for the wolf to return. 

After the painful change I sit in Toby's home with a cup of hot chocolate. “We need to call your brother and let him know where you are I'm sure he is worried.” Toby says sipping his coffee. “Yeah he may be.” I say playing with my cup. “So what's going on with you and that Ace guy.” Toby asks kind of nervously. “Nothing.” I say and take a sip. “Oh, okay, so would you like to, uh maybe go out sometime?” He seemed so nervous, nothing like the strong alpha I had seen no less than an hour ago. “Um yeah I would-” That's when we heard all the growling. “What the-” Toby didn't get to finish what he was saying because a very angry puffed up Mike came busting through the door, Ace was on his heels, looking more angry than Mike. “You son of a bi-” Mike touched Ace on the shoulder and he stopped talking but it didn't stop him from seething. “It isn't his fault, I was running and smelled the fire and stopped. They helped me shift back and got me some clothes.” This seemed to calm Mike some but not Ace. “You seen her naked?!” Ace yelled and started to walk toward Toby. “No he didn't he gave me clothes and told me what to do and I did it on my own.” I started to raise my voice also since Ace was yelling. He stopped and just stared at me. “Thank you for helping her Toby but your help will not be needed any more for my sister. We are leaving.” Mike looked at me and I knew I had to follow, so when he went out the door so did I, with Ace right of my heels. “What was you thinking?!” Ace yelled as soon as we got outside. “I don't know.” I say and look down. “You could have got killed! Or hurt! For being stupid!” Ace was in my face yelling and I could feel my angry start to boil. He kept going on until I couldn't take it anymore. “ENOUGH! YOU WILL NOT GET IN MY FACE YELLING AT ME!” I yell and everyone goes silent. Ace looks like he has been slapped and takes a few steps back. Mike looks surprised and I'm standing there breathing heavy from my outburst. Ace looks at Mike and Mike at Ace they looked so confused. I look between them than a feeling of exhaustion came over me and I passed out. 

I woke up in my warm bed and stretched out. I froze when I felt someone laying next to me. I roll over and see Ace sound asleep. Anger rose in me but left as soon as it came. He was so warm and smelled like the woods, it was calming. I roll back over and close my eyes. “ I'm sorry.” I feel someone whisper in my ear. “After you left I told Becky to leave me alone that I don't like her. I also threw that picture of me and her in the fire.” “I'm sorry for yelling at you.” I say and snuggle into him. I have never been so comfortable.

When I woke up again Ace was still in bed with me, and I stretched and he grabbed me. “I told Toby I would go on a date with him.” I say and feel Ace stiffen. “Why?” He growled out trying to keep his temper. “Because I was mad at you and images of you and that b***h kept flashing through my mind.” “Oh.” He says but his grip never loosened. “I don't want to go out with him, I want to go out with you.” I whisper. Ace pulls me closer and whispers in my ear, “Me too.” I giggle and twist in his arms and stop when I meet his eyes. They are full of want and that makes me smile. He kisses me and I freeze. I start to kiss him back. He rolls me on my back so he is on top of me kissing me, but suddenly pulls away. We lay there breathing heavy. “I'm sorry.” I breath out. He smiles at me. “You have no reason to be sorry.” He breathes out, and rolls off of me. “Come on it's time to get ready you have a long day ahead of you.” He says and grabs my hand. I roll back over and stuff my head back in my pillow. “I don't wanna get up. Can't we just stay in bed?” I whine. “No you're getting accepted by the pack today so that you can't run off again.” He says pulling me more until I fall off the bed. I laugh and pull myself up and grab some clothes. “You better go get dressed mister we have a big day today”,I say as I push him out the door. He turns around a gives me a quick kiss before he walks down the hall to his room. 

I go to my closet and start picking out clothes but get stopped by a hand on my shoulder. “I want to know everything little lady.” It's Rosa. I smile at her. “You sit down I'll pick out your clothes, but I want you to tell me everything.” I sit and start my story from the beginning. As I tell my story Rosa nods and gasp at all the right parts, I know she is just acting because all the servants talk. “So that's how I changed, yelled at Ace, and now I'm here.” I finish up. She looks at me with big eyes. I guess she didn't hear about last night yet. “Strange.” Is all she says as she hands me a teal sundress and some white sandals. “Go get dressed and we will start on your hair.” I go and get changed and then all the boring stuff begins.
