Chapter Two

Serenity's POV     "Come." That is all I heard of the man's voice and I walked out of my cell without looking up at him. I followed out behind him and I see the sun peeking through the doorway. I found myself getting excited for a moment because I haven't seen or felt the sun in a very long time. When the sun touched my skin, I smiled. I haven't smiled for as long as I could remember but feeling the warmth of the sun was the best thing I could have asked for. My moment was ruined when I hear Nova's voice, "Why are you smiling?" I didn't have time to react before her hand connected with my face again. I heard the man let out what sounded like a grunt and Nova stopped what she was doing, to my surprise. I then heard the mystery man speak, "Serenity, this way." He leads me to my parents’ home, and I could assume it was their home because of how closely it was to my cell. The mystery man opens the door and I heard three voices speaking among themselves. The first voice I recognized as my fathers, "I think she would make a fine wife. She is obedient and she knows her place." I then hear another man speak but this wasn't the mystery man speaking. This man’s voice was much darker and harsher, "Is this her? Serenity? What a beauty she is." His voice sent a chill down my back and I instantly got a bad feeling. I started feeling uneasy and I wanted to run away. He walks over toward me, making a circle around me. He finally stops when he is behind me and I shudder once I feel his hand touch my shoulders. He begins to move his hands over my arms in a rough motion. His feeling alone made me want to vomit. I hear him speak again and it was enough to almost sent me running, "You have such beautiful skin, but you are far too pale and skinny. You will come back to my home and that is where you will spend your time. You will address me only as Alexander or sir. Do you understand?"     "Yes Alexander," I spoke but the word sounded more as a croak. He continues to slide his hands down and over my stomach. As his hands grip my thighs, I turned and smacked him. No one touches me like that. It didn't feel right for him to put his hands on me and it was out of shock that I slapped him. I heard everyone let out a gasp and I knew I had made a mistake. He lifted my chin with one hand and with the other, he slapped me harder than I ever been hit before. The pain I was feeling was like any other I had felt before. He was much stronger than Nova and all the time I had gotten use to her blows, was nothing compared to his. I fell to the ground, my vision unclear. Darkness surrounded me as eyes closed and I drifted off into a slumber.
