CHAPTER TEN
I woke up in the hospital bed with the person that claimed himself to be the CEO. He looked at me closer and I opened my eyes up to see his face, almost touching my head. I sneezed all of a sudden which sent him the signal that I was awake and he staggered on his feet. He looked at me and said "You are awake?" I wouldn't answer as I gnashed my teeth in anger.
When he saw that I wouldn't give any responses, he continued and said "I thought you wouldn't wake up" he chuckled, leaving me speechless on the bed. I watched him with despise and I thought in my mind "How could a person be this callous?".
Just then, something hit me in my head. He made a statement which made me turn my head swiftly at him. "I told the CEO that you were too small to be handled by he wouldn't answer" he said, laughing at me hysterically and his laughter reminded me of what he did to me the other time.
I stood up immediately and faced him "What did you mean by what you just said now?". He didn't reply me, instead he looked away from me and I walked around the hospital room when he replied "So I can act so well like this?".
"Act?" I asked with my eyes widened, then I asked further "Excuse me please... Why are you talking in parables". I threw alot of question at him which he didn't answer and I asked further saying, "Who are you, Mr?".
He turned to look at me and he uttered "I am the CEO", then he burst into deep laughter. I scrambled through the bed, resting my head on the wall with the hospital bedsheet held tightly to my chest. I looked wearily around and the more I looked at the man, the more my heart skipped out of fear.
He continued whistling while walking round the room in the hospital. He made a halt all of a sudden and began to walk towards my direction. I shrieked with fear but the door was closed to allow anyone to hear my loud cry. He reached my side and told me to keep quiet, then he said "Did you really think I am the CEO?".
I couldn't move my lips and I panicked in fear, while watching him. He moved closer to me, using his nose to sniff at me like a barking dog and then he said "Why? Are you afraid to let a Psycho be your CEO?". He looked at me deep in the eyes and he burst into laughter.
"Wow! I will have to further more in my acting career" he said and then continued "I wonder why I left my Acting school into doing this..." he replied himself, shrugging his shoulder.
Just then, he received a call on his phone and he went out to pick the call. "Hello boss..." he said, while he signaled to me. He strode towards the door and closed it behind while he talked to the person over phone.
I quickly stood up and walked round the room, searching for an escape route but I couldn't find one until I surrendered and walked back towards my bed when he spoke out, coming inside. "Why did you surrender?" he said, hanging up the call. "You could have passed here and run... Don't you think?" he uttered, showing me the way to the escape route.
"How did he know I wanted to run away?" I whispered in mind and asked myself further "Did he plant a camera here or what?" I said, looking round the room to see if a camera was plugged in truly.
He jolted me out all of a sudden and said "Okay madam... The CEO is waiting for you in his office". I looked behind to face him while I asked "The CEO again?", he nodded his head affirmatively and answered "Yes, the CEO" and he added further "And I told the CEO earlier that you are not capable of working as his Bodyguard but he wouldn't listen, saying you will learn... Now, is this how you will be behaving as his Bodyguard?" he asked rhetorically, rolling his eyes at me.
I laughed hysterically so suddenly but I didn't know where I got the nerves from, probably because I heard he was talking about another CEO again. He stared at me and he was amazed to see me laughing at his front.
"Madam, are you sure you are good?" he said, searching my eyes for an answer. I moved to him and said "What has been happening since?". When I saw he wasn't answering, I asked further "Are we in some kind of a squid game or what?".
He burst into laughter when I heard I mentioned 'Squid Game' and he asked me again "Squid Game... Did you just say Squid game?". I answered and replied him with "Yes" and I further added "If not that we are playing games, then who are you and who is the CEO that is waiting for me again?".
"Okay, you will find that out yourself later" he replied me and turned his back on me so I could put my clothes on. "Are you done, madam?" he asked me but I didn't answer. I put on my clothes and then looked around because I couldn't understand what was happening in here. I didn't find any clue so I surrendered to see the CEO whom he said is waiting for me since.
He turned around this time, without asking me anything. When he confirmed that I was ready, he faced and said "Follow me". I obeyed and followed out of the room. He led me through a basement and in no time, we arrived at the company.
It was then I knew that the hospital was inside the company as we arrived there so quickly, by just through the basement. I looked around so weird as I followed him to the CEO'S office behind.
"Yes, this was where I came in the other time where I met the other CEO that I knew" I whispered and I followed him humbly. He brought out his Identity card and made a pass in which I followed him behind.
We went into the office and I saw a vivid figure by the window again. "Who is this person again?" I murmured and I couldn't think straight to the first CEO I met when I first came here. He turned his back to face us while he clapped his hand, saying "Look who is here" as he walked to his seat.
He waved to the Psycho that I came in with, that he could go. He bended his head slightly and said "Okay boss" while he strode towards the door and walked out, closing the door behind him.
My mind was not even there anymore due to what I encountered with the Psycho. I walked up straight to him and said "What's the next game again?". I uttered, not even bothering my head to think of anything as I sat down in the chair, crossing my legs together while I faced him.
"Well... That's nice of you, you just passed the test madam" he said.
"Oh! Really? You called that a test, right?" I asked him further, with my eyes widely opened.
"Yes, it is... I don't have any choice than to do what I did... Have you forgotten how you came inside the other day?" he asked, looking into my eyes.
"Okay?" I asked shortly.
"I will remind you then if you have forgotten... You remember when you first entered here... I needed to fin out before giving you any work to do because what if you were sent to kill me?" he explained to me.
"Okay" I replied him with a word because I couldn't afford to waste my saliva after putting me through that whole lot of stress with the Psycho earlier.
"However, congratulations... I heard you've stamped the contract paper that you were given" he chuckled at me.
"Okay... What do you expect? I was forced to use my stamp and you know I can sue you for that, right?" I said, while rolling my eyes at him.
"Really? Go ahead then..." he told me and when he saw that I wasn't replying him, he further added "I actually did that so you wouldn't breach the contract because you only said it with your mouth the other time".
"Okay, no problem" I answered.
"Anyways, that is that OK. So now, you've started work as from today already and like I said trying other time, I will be paying you with 200 dollars for a start and considering how well and how good you are, will determine your increase in payment" he explained to me.
"Do I have any other choice anymore?" I asked myself rhetorically and remembering what we have passed through at home, made me to agree with the contract without prolonging any matter. "Yes, understood sir" I answered after hearing the payment.
"Okay, that's good then" he said, standing on his feet. I could see him clearly now, without being under tension. He had this tough look on his face, but he was trying to hide it. I shrugged my shoulder and I cleared my mind off the thought because all what I could think was the money that I heard and I was already making a plan on how to spend it.
He sat down and dialed a number on the telephone and the person arrived instantly. The person brought in the contract paper and he collected it from his hand, looking at it while he nodded his head affirmatively at the same time.
"That's good" he said, turning to face me and he beckoned on the person who brought in the contract paper to wait. "So this is the contract paper" he whispered softly, holding the contract paper in his hand.
I didn't talk as I only watched him, displaying over the contract paper in his hand but what he said jolted me out suddenly. "Okay then, I will hand the contract paper over to my Lawyer to sign on it" he said, looking at my face.
"Is it up to that?" I asked, facing him directly.
"Yes, it is more than that... So he can act according to the contract signed if there is any breach of contract in the future" he chuckled, while he explained to me.
"Ohh..." I murmured.
"Yes... This seems more or less like a Future reference" he said, laughing hysterically.
"I see" I said shortly.
"That means we are good to go then, right?" he said, staring deep into my eyes.
"It doesn't seem like I have any other choice... Do I?" I said, rolling my eyes at him.
Just then, he signaled to the person who brought in the contract paper and asked him to give it to his Lawyer at his office. He gave it to the person and the person nodded affirmatively. The person strode towards the door and opened it while he closed it behind him as he left us alone in the office.
There was a silence for some time after the person had left, leaving me all alone with the CEO. I looked round his office and scanned everything I saw there with my eyes. "This office is not bad..." I whispered within myself and then I continued "How I wish I own this kind of office to myself one day".
"Hello" the CEO said, hitting the documents on his table to jolt me out from my thoughts. When he saw I was now fully awake from my thoughts, he said "Madam, you are not here to think but to work OK". He screamed at me and I nodded affirmatively while I opened my eyes widely to start my job as his Bodyguard.
