She should not tell it to him but Sofia is a person who was always been happy to share her thoughts with a person she was comfortable with. What she just told him made him paused and stuck staring at her. In his whole life, there got one person again who had the guts to tell him they are comfortable with him. He did everything he can to avoid humans being close to him. He was just a living vampire hiding himself on a fake identity of a man. It seemed Demire has not been good at avoiding human because there is a woman tonight who had been true to tell him she was comfortable with him.
“Don’t be,” the only thing he managed to tell her and put his cup on a wooden table on his side. Two words that means many things for him. He does not want her to feel comfortable with him, because he knew himself—if she will find out about who he was and what is he. Surely, she will regret meeting him. He knew what will be her reaction if ever she will find it out. She will run away and will forever avoid him. Humans are humans. He’s not belonged to their world but he has no place to live with, to keep his fang is the only thing he knew to live his life peacefully. Demire once asked himself the reason of fighting his life against the odds. He can end his existence anytime he wants but he’d chosen to live and continue his life like a normal human being. And that thing remained question in him. Why he lives still a mystery for him, or maybe the right answer is to be richer than he was now, but it has no sense. He knew it.
“Can I teach myself to be uncomfortable with you? This is what I feel. I feel like you are my savior, my knight in shining armor.” She smiled and gaze at him.
He met her gaze and her beautiful eyes. “I’m not, Sofia.” He bit his tongue and looked away. Deep inside of him, he wanted to give her a smile. He loved what he heard from her. It seemed to lift his heart from a deep drowning water. He sighed. “We will have a long weekend and tons of work. You should rest now.” He tried to change the current atmosphere with her.
“I cannot sleep yet.”
“Because you are drinking coffee.”
“I just want to try what it feels, and what make you do it at evening.”
He sighed. “I just want to relax.”
“Beer can do it.” She did not remove her gaze to him.
“I don’t drink alcohol.” When the cold air blew again, he noticed she’s cold. He stood up and removed the robe he wore to keep him warm. He’s already dressed up with his white shirt and long black silk pants. He gave her the robe. “Use this.”
“Thank you, but you might get cold too.”
“I’ll be okay.” He went back to the couch. Placed his both beneath his head, leaned on the backrest and looked up to the sky. “I lied today.”
“What do you mean?”
“I ordered you to cancel all my appointment, right?”
She nodded and covered herself with his robe. She cannot help herself not to stare at him. He’s getting more handsome in her eyes and getting more hotter than she first met him.
“I’m planning to rest and visit a very important place to me tomorrow.” He’s watching the dark sky with few stars shining independently. Suddenly, he remembered Angelique. The first ever woman he fell in love with. They used to look at the dark sky and talk about how their day had been. She was everything he has before but a just a memory now.
“I see.” She saw something very deep in his eyes. “I heard you hate absents, but today you cancelled all your appointments, if that’s so, then that place and the date tomorrow was very important for you.” She wanted to ask more about it but she does not want to invade his personal life. She has her own life to tackle about.
“Yes,” he said. Tomorrow is the very important day for me. It was the first day I first met her wearing a white dress. Angelique’s memories still had the part in his heart and no matter how many years had pass. He will be in his heart forever.
“Then, I’ll be on the office alone.” She sighed. She felt a sudden feeling of uneasy. “What time you will leave, so I can leave early in the morning.” She took her coffee and finished it.
He faced her. “Maybe ten in the afternoon.” He saw her eyes trying to tell him something. He’s staring at those eyes for a minute when a thought came to his mind. “We’ve done our work today. What do you think if I ask you to come with me?”
She looked at him immediately and a smiled drew her lips. “Are you serious about it?”
He nodded.
“That’s a nice invitation and probably I will accept it, but I don’t think it’s a right time to come with you. It’s your special day.”
“Yes, and I feel like to show you some good places I had been. You seemed to like travel didn’t you?”
She nodded and smiled. Her heart was leaping in so much happiness. “Yes, I really like it.”
