There was something inside Demire that he could not explain. His lips never forget to smile every time he set his eyes on her. She’s eating like a zombie, and looked zestful with her foods. She has nothing to ask him and Demire loved to watch her, that’s why silence won their atmosphere. “What could you tell about the dinner? Just something came up to your mind when you tasted them?” finally, he got something to ask her. He never had to feel awkwardness, he’s enjoying watching her.
She paused separating the tomato on top of the beef. “They’re good, I love the combination of sweet and spicy flavor.” Then sneaped the piece on her fork. “I love spicy foods.” She giggled, shown him how she really loved the food she eating.
“Great,” he said and smiled.
“How dare you!”
They both searched to see who yelled inside this romantic restaurant. Sofia frowned to see a woman one table apart with them, standing with those fists clenched in anger. The woman was looking for a man on the table where the woman was seated few minutes ago.
“Don’t mind them, Sofia,” he said and continued eating, but Sofia didn’t remove her gaze to the couple started arguing. “Sofia,” he called her when she remained staring at them.
“I gave you everything, Joseph! And this is what you can only give me?” The woman with its beautiful red dress, blonde hair, red lips and dark makeup. She looked like at the age of twenty-five and above. “I won’t accept it!” Her fists were closed in so much anger. Sofia didn’t remove her eyes to them and something came to her mind, it’s all about her and her forever relationship status. Single. Seeing this kind of argument in this private place and same as in her apartment when Lily and its boyfriend were having the difficult argument. She decided to be single for the rest of her life.
“Sofia, I said don’t mind them.” He touched her hand on the table and gently pressed it to bring her attention back to their table. Then, she did.
“I’m sorry, I just remember something.”
“About argument with your boyfriend.”
She faced him confused. “With boyfriend? I don’t have boyfriend.” She sighed and wagged her head, it’s a sign of her disbelief.
“Oh, why?” He started to be curious but he had to prevent he was not, so he brought back his attention on his dinner. And avoided to look at her. “You’re beautiful, I mean, how come you had no boyfriend. Juts broke up with him?”
She wagged her head. “No, I never had a boyfriend since birth.” Her face grimaced and sipped the wine. “I don’t know why, but yes… I never had boyfriend since I was born.”
Demire was surprised of what she just said. His eyes flashed with something he was not sure about. “Really?” He paused when he realized what he just said. “No, I mean it’s okay.”
She smiled and nodded. “How about you?”
He got a deep breath before he answers her question. “I got someone I fell in love many years ago…” In just an instant, memories went back to mind.
“Demire!”
He heard a voice from his back. When he turned to face the owner of his voice, her run towards to reach her immediately. “Angelique!” he called her name as she fell in his arm before on the floor. She’s puking her own blood, and completely weak. She hugged him.
“D-Demire…” she’s stuttering, her lips were too pale. She touched his cheek and tears started to shed from her eyes. “I… l-love you.”
“Angelique! What happened!? Answer me please! You left me after knowing I am a vampire and will go back with me, pale, weak and bleeding? This is not fair!” He hugged her. She never got a chance to answer him. Angelique, the only mortal on earth he fell in love was died in his arm. He has no power to heal mortal nor revive their lives. After her death he found out she was sick. Stage four cancer. And she scaped the hospital only to see him before she died. What happened to her broke his heart, it left him dying inside and missing her. They met on the forest where they both wanting to scape the cruel world. They been together for four years until one day, she left after knowing he’s a vampire but little did he know she was sick that time and forcibly admitted to the hospital. Human’s life has an ending, and that taught him to never be attached to any of them or he’ll ended up in pain again. This is the reason why he avoided human but when he met Sofia, he woke up one day, he’s willing to step his feet out of the barrier he built to avoid anyone get in touch with him.
“Demire? Are you okay?”
He blinked when he heard her. He nodded. “Y-Yeah, I am.”
“Okay, you just floated for five minutes.”
“I’m sorry.”
“No, it’s okay.” She smiled before she finished her dinner. “This is a nice dinner.”
“Yeah, and thank you for coming with me.”
They finished their dinner having small talks. Demire loved what he shared with her. She's a nice woman with pure heart. And he's enjoying her company. He offered her for a ride going home, and Sofia didn't refuse she has to be thrifty. "Thank you for the dinner, and the ride," she said that made him nodded.
