Sofia entered the building of Goddard Company for her second day. It took her too hard to understand the organization she got into yesterday. But today, with her new friend Gad, it lessens her worried about being alone inside the company. She was tossed by a serious gaze of few employees on the lobby. It made her conscious about how she looks today. She’s wearing a fitted jeans and plain blouse with a blazer, two inches high heels and a light makeup. What are they doing? Do I have a dirt on my face? She took her phone out of her pocket and look her face on its black screen. She noticed nothing wrong on it, so what are those gazes mean?
“Hi, Sofie!” Gab greeted her, “You’re early than yesterday.”
“Hello, Gab.” She smiled at her. “I don’t want to hear another snarl from our wonderful Mr. Goddard.”
“Oh, dear, you said it very well.”
“Silly.” They chuckled walking inside the elevator. When the door about to shut, someone took a hand in the middle to prevent it. She gasped as she found out who is it, it was her boss. Demire. “G-good morning, Sir—I mean Mr. Goddard. Sorry!”
“Tsk!” He hissed and stood beside her.
“Good morning, Mr. Goddard,” Gab greeted him. Both girls went upset when they received no reply from him. What do they have to expect from this man? They met him muted. He only talks when it he wants something from you, or he will be benefited by it.
Wow! He’s too kind! Sofia rolled her eyes. As the door opened, he walks out first. “I wish he will learn how to be kind to others,” she muttered. They walked out the elevator
Gab chuckled. “Yah, I hope so.”
They separated to their own cubicle. She brought some of her thinks to display on top of her table. Since it was too plain yesterday. She has the small picture frame, where her picture on her debut was attached inside, six inches at all sides. “Pretty cool,” she mouthed and smiled. She gasped when a wireless telephone on her table rang all of the sudden. She sighed when she found out it was just the phone. “Good morning, this is Sofia Pollyana from Goddard company, what may I help you?”
Demire laughed on the other line. He forgot to tell Sofia he will use the phone to call his secretary when he needs. Freak! What more made him laugh is the way she tried so hard to make her voice nice. “It’s me, come inside my office.”
“Mr. Goddard?” She went surprised. “Why did you call on this phone?”
“That is an insane question I ever heard. I won’t waste my time to stand, go out my office, call you and go back inside again.”
She suddenly went into embarrassment as she realized what is he trying to say. He has the point, of course who would do that kind of stupid things. If she will be the boss, she’ll do the same thing. “P-pardon me. Mr. Goddard. I’m coming.” She ended the call and took a very deep sigh. She was praying the ground would eat her now to disappear. That was so embarrassing for her. She fixed herself and faced the door of his office. Why do she had the hesitation to get inside his office? She sighed again before she knocks the door. “M-may I come in?”
“Yeah, get in.”
She opened the door and walked near his table. A poker face of him did not surprise Sofia, in fact she loves his emotionless expression rather than he laugh after what she did. “Do you need anything, Mr. Goddard?”
“Isn’t it obvious, Sofia?”
She bit her lower lip for another embarrassment. She couldn’t find a better word to say next. She remained silent, instead.
He coughed and glared at her. “What do you think is your job?”
“W-what do you mean, Mr. Goddard?”
“Do I have to remind you every day about what you should do and not?” He clenched his fist on the table. He shouldn’t act the way he was badly affected of her charm, they are on work, and he hates when his employees don’t do their job well. He doesn’t like to waste his precious time and so his employees should act the same when they were in his company. “My number one rules is ‘No late’ that was I really hate the most, and yet you’re late in your first day. Second is I don’t want to see anyone inside my company talking about something that is out of their job.”
Her palms got dampen. She badly needs to go out of his room or she’ll end up fainting.
“Do I have to tell you every day that you have to make me a coffee every morning?”
She sighed. “N-no, Mr. Goddard,” she answered her voice was stuttering.
“How about yesterday I caught you on cam, talking to one of our new employees as if you don’t have any job?”
“About that, Sir—”
“Mr. Goddard.”
She receives another death glare from him. “M-Mr. Goddard, I’m sorry. It wouldn’t happen again, I promise.” She gulped and squeezing both of her palms. Demire notice that mannerism of her. And he found it cute. He can’t no longer resist her, she’s completely afraid of him. That is what he really wants her to feel him.
“Your job is not to sit your chair the whole day.” He understands she is new to this field and little bit brat. He thinks, she needs more time for her to learn his preferred day with his secretary.
