Jane’s POV “Linda common you’re not going to keep ignoring me like this are you” I said while trying to turn off the loud music Linda was listening to “Can you let me be and leave the music alone”standing up from her bed she turned the music back on and moved her waist to the rhythm of the music “Shutting everyone out is not going to help” “So letting people in will help?” “It was a mistake Linda” “That is the lie everyone keep telling me” Linda finally turned the music off with her eyes filled with tears and fatigue written all over her body she took the glass of wine sitting on the table,gulped every single drop of it,staggered and dropped on the floor took a deep breath”that is the lie everyone keep telling me,that is the lie y’all want me to believe” she said pointing at me “You’re a drunk” “I’m not drunk” she shouted “why can’t you believe me,he wasn’t deserving of anything that happened that day…..and I…I….I didn’t mean to” “I know and I believe you, just take it easy on yourself” “I am all alone” “No you’re not,I’m right here and I’ll always be here” I helped her up back on the bed “but for now you really need to take a long rest and I promise you that……” Linda was already fast asleep. I stayed in bed with her till I was sure she’s deeply asleep before heading out the room Linda has been through so much and at this point she needs me if she has to remain sane………. (One year ago) LINDA’S POV “Here’s your milkshake chummy” Jane sat down beside me and handed a cup to me, and she’s been calling me Chummy since elementary school though I’m used to the name but I still believe I’ve outgrown it “Don’t call me that, it’s too clingy” “But you’re my chummy” “Ewww,how does that sound girl you’re not even a guy, and you know I’m straight asf” Jane rolled her eyes at me and I smiled widely at her “Whatever so how far about your internship” “Yea,uhhhm about that Mrs Davies wants me to go that at the Colony’s empire” “That’s so thoughtful” I glared at her in such horror“thoughtful? Just as she was about to continue her phone rang “let me get this” after few minutes on the phone Linda was very upset who ever it was definitely said something she doesn’t like “Hey what’s wrong” “Mrs Davies said I resume tomorrow,why would she do that,can’t I choose where to intern” “Baby you’re a designer you should be happy to intern in the best design company in the world! Screw Phillip and go kill that s**t ok. I’ll have to go now I have a train to catch, see ya tomorrow” “Bye b***h”. ******** Early Tuesday morning I thought to grab a coffee before heading to Colony’s empire and I didn’t plan to go late since it’s my first day at work. I ordered for my coffee just as I was bout to pay “sorry a gentleman already paid for your coffee” “what! please who’s that” “He said to tell you it’s from a friend” “Ok thank you” “You’re welcome ma’am ” I took my coffee and left,when I go to the company I was taken directly to the boardroom where I was told to give a presentation on design. “s**t a presentation on so early like I’m not prepared” I thought to myself I was shocked, i wasn’t prepared, it’s not done, sweat broke out on my face and I suddenly started feeling very hot nobody gives a presentation on their first day of being an intern at least not one that I know of, but I knew I had to do it. I took the front and started and after few minutes I was done and everyone applauded except……….”That was a total disaster for someone whom I was told was the best in her class” silent broke out, everyone was shocked as they all turned and looked at Phillip “If you can give such mediocre presentation in this circle how do you intend to represent us when you face the big world” he stood up and left,just after that others started leaving the board room,I wanted to run after him and dish out some blow to on him for being such utter disrespect but decided against it “How could he talk to me like that, he’s so proud Jeez, so full of himself Mr perfect” “Mr Phillips wants you in his office miss” the secretary said as I jerked back to life “one minute” Stella left as I took my time to put my dress in order and rearranged my hair after which I found my way straight to Phillips office. “Sit” “I’d rather stand” Phillip raised his head up to look at Me “Good choice” such rascal I thought today myself “Where you given a breakdown of how the company works” “I was sir, but I’m still trying to……” “Rule no.1 we don’t try here we go for it and we get it” “Understood”, he looked straight into my eyes without blinking.
