That evening, Diane returned to find Mary Lynn and I sitting on my bed. She immediately sensed that something was wrong, that I was distraught and had been crying. Looking at Mary Lynn, she said, “Mary Lynn, what’s going on? Why is Laura crying?”
“Laura and Tony broke up,”Mary Lynn replied.
“Why? What happened?” Diane asked.
Mary Lynn told her that I was still shaken up about it, but that I wanted to speak to both of them tomorrow, to get their opinions.
Diane immediately came to my side to comfort me and hugged me, as I continued sobbing.
