Ivory's POV.
“Isn't this a little bit too tight Lily?” I said, feeling very comfortable.
“The Alpha specifically asked for you to appear in this dress my lady” Lily responded. “Now hold still and let me zip it up for you” Lily added, chuckling quietly.
“Haha, very funny Lily” I said, sounding sarcastic.
“All done.” Lily announced, taking a few steps away from me.
“Why do I have to dress like this? And this much makeup?”
“You look very beautiful Luna, a smile will go better with your dress” Lily said, walking to the closet to get my shoes.
I stared at the gigantic mirror that captured my entire reflection.
I was wearing a striking, sleeveless red dress. Its straight silhouette hugged my figure like a crimson shadow. The vibrant color ignited my porcelain skin, and the sleek design accentuated my toned arms and elegant neck.
My hair was neatly styled by Lily into loose waves .
Although I haven't been in the pack for long, Lily was my only one I could call a friend and also someone I could confide in.
Growing up, I had no one I could call my friend. I wasn't even allowed to step out of my father's cabin without the supervision of him or his beta.
“Found them,” Lily announced excitedly, holding a pair of black heels. “This will go perfectly with your outfit.”
“Yeah, I am definitely not wearing that.” I said, rolling my eyes.
“Stop being stubborn Luna. You of all people should know he doesn't like being kept waiting for long” Lily said.
I rolled my eyes again and sat on the bed while Lily helped with my shoes.
“You look stunning Luna” I heard a voice coming from the entrance of my room.
Lily quickly stood up and bowed her head. “Beta Alex, how can I be of help to you?” She asked, maintaining a serious tone.
I almost broke down in laughter because I had forgotten how serious she could get.
“Excuse us!” Alex said, locking his eyes with mine.
“Yes Beta” Lily bowed one more time before leaving.
“Ethel doesn't like waiting,” Alex said to me, smirking.
“I am ready.”
“Good thing Ethel asked me to come get you then. He would have been starstruck with your appearance and might not want to attend the party” Alex teased, laughing at the top of his voice.
“You are impossible.” I said, rolling my eyes.
“Shall we?” He asked, placing his left hand on his chest, with his palm facing inward.
I slid my right hand into his, resting it on his left arm. “Let's go” I spoke softly, followed by a giggle.
In comparison to Ethel, Alex was well built up. His dark black hair complemented his brown skin. He was as tall as Ethel and had gray eyes.
There was something about his eyes that I couldn't quite understand but whenever I looked at them, I found solace.
We got outside the pack house and met Ethel standing in front of a carriage. He carried a huge scowl on his face.
He snorted loudly. “It took you long enough. We are running late.” He said, before getting into the carriage.
“How rude. You specifically asked me to wear this dress. The least you could have done was say I looked good in it," I muttered under my breath, gritting my teeth.
“I will see you at the party Luna.” Alex said, bringing back my attention to him.
“You aren't riding with us?” I inquired with a raised brow.
“No. However, my carriage will be right behind yours” He said, giving me a reassuring smile.
“Are you coming or not?” Ethel growled, sounding agitated.
“You should go now,” Alex said, opening the door of the carriage for me.
I climbed into the carriage, and the horses took off.
The first few minutes of the ride was a quiet one for Ethel and I. I had so many questions to ask but I was a bit skeptical.
“Ask what you wish to know” Ethel said, as if he had just read through my mind.
"Uhm... you... you never told me where we are going," I said, raising my head to meet his cold ocean blue eyes.
“My father's oldest friend is celebrating his birthday. That is where we are headed.” He answered, shifting his gaze from me.
“His wolf says you look beautiful” Lyka, my wolf said.
I couldn't help but to blush at the complement.
Ethel noticed and stared at me questionably.
I cleared my throat and sat upright. I knew the rest of the journey would be a quiet one, so I rested my arms on the window of the carriage and admired nature.
"You look much better in the dress than I expected." Ethel said. I could tell from his voice that it was difficult for him to say, and I could not help but giggle.
It took us approximately twenty minutes to arrive at our destination.
Ethel and I stepped out of the carriage, and everyone's gaze was fixed on us as we entered the house where the celebration was taking place.
“Ahhh.. you must be Ivory, our new Luna” An elderly man spoke excitedly as he walked towards Ethel and I.
I smiled in response to his gesture.
“I am Sabastian, welcome to my house and party. Feel at home dear” He said, tapping me lightly on the shoulder.
“Alpha Ethel, do you have a minute? I need to talk to you privately. I hope you don't mind Luna?” Sabastian said, staring at me with an unsettling smile.
I nodded.
I watched as they entered another room.
As soon as I turned around, I bumped into one of the Omega wolves serving drinks at the event.
“I am sorry Luna, please don't have me killed” She pleaded, abruptly going down on her knees.
“Please get up, it's fine.” I said, turning around to make sure nobody noticed what just happened. “I just need to clean up, please direct me to the restroom.
“Upstairs, the first door to your le..…”
“Thank you” I said, rushing upstairs without allowing her to complete her statement.
*******
As soon as I finished cleaning myself up, I couldn't help sensing another presence in the bathroom.
I raised my head up and saw an unfamiliar man's reflection in the mirror.
“Who are you and why are you here?” Were the last words I remembered saying before losing consciousness.
