A Living Nightmare
In a universe far beyond reality's touch, lies an ancient supernatural world ruled by twin gods, Deo-Derius and Del-Gatha. The two brothers divide the regions into six divine realms. The three archangels of Deo-Derius, Angel Aetherion, Bearer of Divine Light and Truth, rules over the realm of Aurethys. Angel Theoniel, Teacher of Healing and Sacred Life, rules over the realm of Elyndor Sanctum. Angel Zepharael, Revealer of Dreams and Prophecy, rules over the realm of Nymeris Veil. While the three arch angels of Del-Gatha, Angel Zecharion, Controller of Celestial winds and Storms, rules over the realm of Velkaria. Angel Vaelion, Weapon of Judgement, rules over the realm of Solthren. Angel Azrael, Interpreter of Celestial knowledge, rules over the realm of Obsidian Thorne. The six realms lived in harmony for many human centuries, teaching their divine ways to humans and making disciples. Desiring sole and divine leadership for himself alone, Del-Gatha got fed up with the order of balance and waged war on Deo-Derius and all his creations. A war erupted in the heavenly and human realms as brother went against brother, and sons went against sons, and disciples went against disciples. After almost a century of war, the divine order of balance was severed, and Deo-Derius laid a curse on Del-Gatha, corrupting all he ever made to be impure. The end of the war left Obsidian Thorne in a state of haphazard ruination, but an unending one still wages on in the hearts of the Twin-gods, the angels and everything that breathes! ~ Callista's Pov: I stood in an open field, admiring the subtle beauty of nature as the myriad of white carnations danced around my matching coloured flowing dress. The clear, beautiful sky reminded me of how limitless one could dream. Then I spotted a white carriage passing by from afar. It stopped in its tracks after the carriage-man spotted a large tree trunk blocking the path ahead. The escorting guards dropped from their horses to go and take a look. Suddenly, the place felt ominous as a thick fog started encircling the whole plain. Then it dawned on me! “Stop! Don't go there!” I yelled, running towards them. “Turn back! Runnn!” They couldn't hear me. A man's scream pierced through the atmosphere, and then another followed as something dragged them away. “Help us!” I could hear the screams of helpless women. “Sisters!” My heart raced on as I ran towards their direction. Then I tripped and fell, crouching in pain. A drop of blood fell on my cheeks. Slowly looking through the fog, I noticed the once beautiful carnations, now stained in blood. My eyes caught the movement of something; it seemed dark, big, ominous! ‘Run!’ My instincts kicked in as loud growls and footsteps followed behind my trail. Down to the ground I went again as something landed its heavy weight on me. “Let me go! Let me go!” My eyes were shut as I panicked. “Sister…” “Let go!” A consuming darkness was suffocating me. “Sister!” “Callista!!” I rose from the bed, gasping for air. ‘What was happening?!’ My eyes travelled about in different directions until they settled on a familiar face. “Callista, it was all just a dream! It's not real,” a pregnant woman who was sitting next to me assured me with a hug. “Isolde…” I cried as my tension slightly lessened, “Thank you, sister.” “Don't worry, Callista. We're all here for you, father is too!” “How is father? Where is he?” “He's already at the second temple with everyone. He specifically sent me to check up on you before I leave for the festival.” Isolde said, patting my shoulder. “And what about the snake?!” I looked at Isolde keenly, expecting a response. She raised her brows in annoyance. “There is no snake, Callista…” “What about the energy I had sensed from…” “Callista!” She cut in, standing to her feet. “You are a Light priestess…” she reminded me, as if I had forgotten my identity. “You ought to bring honour to Aurethys and not divide.” “Even if it is at the expense of shielding a traitor?!” I raised my voice back. “There is no traitor! You're just hallucinating. We, disciples of Aurethys, bear no evil. This recent tragedy was a work of those fallen and disgusting beings.” She paced around the room in her light blue dress. “Sister,” Isolde's voice softened as she noticed the disappointment I wore on my face. Leaning towards me, she said, “Today is a very special day for Aurethys and for Father. If you do love and respect him, let this be between us until the festival is over. I will personally go with you to tell him myself, okay?” “Alright, sister.” “Good.” She gave out a light smile and turned to leave, covering her hair with a matching veil. ~ I was walking around, as if keeping watch over all the Light Priestesses while they lay to sleep— eternal sleep to be precise. I wonder if this sleep was a peaceful one, though. I grew up in the Aurethys Temple with other Light Priestesses, dedicating our lives and virginity to the discipleship of Aetherion. Though I had six older sisters, the Priestesses were better at being true sisters than my blood ones ever could! We were one big happy family of sisterhood, within the confines of the Temple. The second temple of Aurethys was finally completed, representing a new order four hundred years after the Great Fall. We were seven in total who left to prepare the temple for its institution… But then, on our way there, demons attacked our carriage. They gruesomely dismembered the guards like they were animals and then… then… The atmosphere went very still for a moment; something didn't feel right. And then immediately something sent shock waves throughout Aurethys. “Arghhh!” A sharp pain stung my chest as I fell to the ground. I cleaned the dust from my eyes, looking up towards the sky, which had turned red and was darkening with ominous clouds. A loud horn blew across the sky, sending a sound of approaching trouble. Realising what this meant, I rose to my feet. Loud cries were heard from a distance: “Medin’s barrier has been breached!”
