In the bustling heart of the city, destiny quietly unfolds for a humble village girl named Sophie. Raised in the countryside by her loving father, Sophie comes to the city in pursuit of a better life, only to face disappointment when she misses her job interview after saving a stranger's life. Heartbroken, she crosses paths with a mysterious man dressed as a construction worker, who assures her that her dream job isn't lost.

To her surprise, she is later offered a position even higher than what she applied for, leaving her both stunned and grateful—but also curious. Could the man she met have had something to do with it?

Sophie’s new life begins at a prestigious company, unaware that the man she bumped into is none other than Ethan Montgomery, the heir to one of the most powerful and wealthiest business empires in America. Ethan, disguised that day to observe the company from the ground level, is secretly searching for the girl who saved his mother in a tragic accident—the same girl who unknowingly now works in his company.

But Ethan’s inheritance comes with a condition: he must marry before taking over his father’s empire. Pressured by his mother and a mysterious will, Ethan offers Sophie a marriage contract—two years, no strings attached. Desperate to support her father and unaware of Ethan’s true identity, Sophie agrees.

What begins as a marriage of convenience becomes the center of a storm. Chapter 1 The Promised Made In Tears
The soft rays of morning sun spilled through the open window of a small cottage nestled deep in the countryside. The air was fresh, and birds chirped joyfully from the tall trees surrounding the wooden house. Inside the house, Sophie stood in front of a mirror, brushing her long, black hair. Her brown eyes reflected quiet strength, and her lips pressed together in thought. She was twenty-two now, a graceful young woman with a kind heart and big dreams. Her life had never been easy, but she wore her hardships like a badge of honor. Sophie Blake had learned to be strong, not because she wanted to, but because life left her no choice. Her father, John Blake, stepped into the room with a steaming cup of tea. His hands were rough, scarred from years of hard labor, and his back slightly bent from age and work. But his eyes sparkled whenever he looked at Sophie. “Here, Sophie. I made your favorite—ginger tea,” he said with a smile. “Thank you, Papa,” she said, taking the cup from him gently. They sat quietly for a moment, the warm morning stretching between them. Sophie’s thoughts drifted back to a painful memory she never liked to revisit. She had been five years old when her mother died. The memory was carved into her heart like a scar that never truly healed. Her mother had fallen ill—a terrible sickness that made her weak and pale. They rushed her to the small hospital in town, but the doctors refused to treat her. “We’re sorry,” one of them had said coldly. “But without a deposit, we can’t admit her.” Sophie had watched from a corner of the hospital room, her tiny hands clutching her doll, as her mother struggled to breathe. Her father had begged and pleaded, even knelt down before the nurses, but no one helped. They didn’t have enough money. That night, her mother closed her eyes for the last time. Sophie never forgot the sound of her father’s cries. From that moment, a vow was born in her heart. A small, broken girl promised herself that she would grow up to be successful, strong, and rich enough to never let anyone she loved suffer like her mother did. “I will take care of you, Papa,” she had whispered to herself many nights while lying in bed. “I’ll make sure you never cry again.” Years went by, and Sophie studied harder than anyone in her class. While other kids played, she was reading old textbooks or helping her father. She never had fancy clothes or expensive books, but she had something far greater—determination. John Blake did all sorts of work to support her. He carried blocks at construction sites, worked on farms, mended fences, and even sold firewood. His palms were always calloused, his clothes worn, but he never once complained. “I want you to finish school, Sophie,” he would say. “You’re my pride. One day, you’ll do great things.” And she did. Despite all odds, Sophie graduated at the top of her class from the local university. She wore her second-hand graduation gown with pride, tears streaming down her face as she looked at her father clapping in the crowd. He was dressed in an old, faded shirt, but he looked at her like she was the brightest star in the sky. After graduation, she returned home for a short time, helping her father around the house and preparing for the next step. She knew her future wasn’t in the village—it was in the city, where opportunities lived. She just didn’t know when or how it would happen. That afternoon, as she helped her father peel cassava in their small backyard, her phone buzzed in her pocket. She wiped her hands and pulled it out. A new message. “Dear Miss Sophie Blake, you have been shortlisted for an interview at Montgomery Corporation. Interview scheduled for Monday, 10 AM. Kindly confirm your attendance.” Her breath caught. Montgomery Corporation. It was the biggest, richest, most powerful company in the country. Every graduate dreamed of working there. It was a place where dreams turned into reality. Her hands trembled as she stared at the message. Could this be it? Her big break? The beginning of the life she had always dreamed of? The morning Sophie left for the city was painted in golden light. Birds chirped gently, and the cool breeze rustled through the trees, but there was no joy in the Blake household. Her father stood by the door, his weathered hands trembling slightly as he held out a small lunch wrapped in brown paper. “You’ll need this,” he said softly, placing it into her bag. Sophie looked around the small cottage she had known all her life. The wooden floors that creaked under her steps, the walls filled with childhood drawings, and the soft bed where she had dreamed of a better life—all of it would stay behind. “I’ll be back soon, Papa,” she whispered. John Blake swallowed hard. “I know. But the house will feel empty.” His voice broke, and tears slipped from the corners of his tired eyes. Sophie rushed to hug him tightly. “Don’t cry. Please. I’ll make you proud.” “I’m already proud, Sophie,” he said, squeezing her. “But remember what I always told you.” She nodded through her own tears. “Always help those in need. Be kind even when it’s hard. If you can help someone, don’t hold back.” “Yes,” he said, kissing her forehead. “The world needs more good people. And you, my daughter, are one of the best.” They hugged for a long time before Sophie finally stepped into the small bus that would take her to the train station. From there, the long journey to the city would begin. As the bus pulled away, Sophie watched her father grow smaller in the distance, wiping his face with the back of his hand. She bit her lip to keep from crying again. The train ride was long and quiet. Sophie sat by the window, watching endless fields blur into tall buildings and highways. She clutched her small bag tightly, filled with clothes, certificates, and dreams. This was her first time leaving home alone, and her heart was pounding. When the train finally arrived at the city terminal, Sophie stepped out into a world full of noise, cars, people, and movement. The air smelled different. Everything was louder, faster, and brighter. Her heart raced with a mix of excitement and fear. She checked the time on her phone. The interview was still a while away, and she decided to walk a little. She didn’t have much money for taxis, and the company wasn’t too far. As she crossed a busy intersection, a loud crashing sound filled the air. Tires screeched, horns blared, and people gasped. Sophie turned just in time to see a black SUV spin out of control and slam into a streetlight. The front of the car was crumpled like paper. Gasps and murmurs spread around as a crowd gathered, but no one moved closer. “Someone call for help!” a man shouted. “Wait, the car might explode,” another warned. But no one stepped forward. Sophie didn’t think twice. She ran. Heart pounding, she rushed to the driver’s side. The windshield was cracked, and smoke rose from the hood. Inside, a woman was slumped over the steering wheel. “Ma’am! Can you hear me?” Sophie cried, pulling at the door. It wouldn’t open. With a grunt, she ran to the passenger side and yanked that door open. Crawling inside, she gently touched the woman’s wrist. She was breathing, but weakly. “Don’t worry,” Sophie whispered. “Help is coming.” She reached for her phone with trembling hands and quickly dialed the emergency line. “An accident just happened near City Avenue! A woman is trapped in her car. Please, send an ambulance!” The dispatcher responded quickly, and Sophie gave them the location. She stayed with the woman, holding her hand. “You’re going to be okay. Stay with me. Just keep breathing.” Minutes later, the ambulance arrived. Paramedics rushed over and carefully pulled the woman from the car. As they lifted her onto the stretcher, something strange happened. The woman, barely conscious, opened her eyes for just a second. Her gaze met Sophie’s, and something flickered in her tired eyes. Then she looked past her—at the back of Sophie’s neck, where a small birthmark shaped like a crescent moon rested. The woman’s lips trembled as if she wanted to say something. But her eyes closed again. Sophie watched in silence as the ambulance drove away, its siren wailing into the distance. The crowd began to disperse. No one even looked at her. Her heart was still racing from the adrenaline. Then it hit her. The time. She grabbed her phone and checked the screen. Her eyes widened in horror. She was already late for her interview. At Montgomery Corporation. Panic surged through her. She hailed the nearest taxi and jumped in. “Montgomery Towers, please! As fast as you can!” she shout ed. The driver nodded, but traffic was thick. Sophie sat at the edge of her seat, biting her nails. Her heart pounded harder with each passing second.
