16. The Alder GateAiden had barely fled a few feet from the Wall before he heard cries behind them and the rustle of branches as the soldiers climbed the tree and jumped to the Wall. The whizz and click of arrows hitting the ground by their feet intensified. Aiden scrambled after Falkor and Tristan behind the nearest building. They paused. Falkor glanced behind then ducked quickly back and pointed down a path to the left. They ran along the path, then back onto a street, turning one way then another through the maze of buildings and lanes. Torches flashed between the houses. They ran on, twisting through the streets until the cries dimmed behind them. And in the silence Aiden’s skin prickled.
