After taking a long shower, I was on my way to get dinner started until I got a call from Natalie. At first, I wasn't going to answer it, but after she kept calling, I decided to see what she wanted. "Yeah?" I answered. "Ayden?" Natalie called my name. "Are you busy?" I walked out of the room and headed downstairs into the kitchen. "No, I'm not. What is it?" "Um... We need to talk." "Okay, then talk." I was still angry with Natalie. So, my being nice was out of the question. "I know you're mad at me about that night at Alias' house and I'm sorry." "I don't forgive you. Is that all you wanted because I have something to do and you kind of called at a bad time." "Can you come over? I feel it's better if I just show you." "Show me what?" "Ayden, just come over." She hung up the phone and I sighed as I turned back to my room to get dressed once again. *** I knocked on Natalie's front door and waited for her to answer it. She opened the door and moved out of the way. "I'm here," I told her as I walked inside. "So, what did you want?" Natalie closed the door and turned to me. She held a plastic stick in her hand and she handed it to me. "What is it?" I asked her. "Just... Look at it." She told me, avoiding my eyes. I sighed as I glanced at the stick. In the middle was a plus sign, but that was it. So, of course, I didn't understand it. After staring at the stick for a good minute, I turned my attention back to Natalie, waiting for an explanation ffrom her. She sighed and snatched the stick out of my hand. "You're really going to make me say it, huh?" She sighed. "Well, I don't what it is." I told her. "So, can you enlighten me or someth-." "Ayden, I'm pregnant." I stopped talking and I just stared at her. There was a whole bunch of mixed emotions. The majority of me was happy about the news, but then, I needed to be cautious. Was she telling me the truth? My mind was just all over the place, so the best thing I could do was question her. "When did you find out?" I asked her. "Today, at my doctor's appointment." "Were you feeling sick or something?" Natalie shook her head. "Um, you don't have to worry about it, though." "What are you talking about? It's our child." "Ayden, I.... I don't want to carry a child." That threw me off. I tried to place my hand on her stomach and she moved back. "What the f***s wrong with you? I can't touch your stomach?" "Ayden, I'm not keeping it. I'm calling the abortion clinic tomorrow morning and making an appointment." I stared at her for a minute before I released a chuckle from my lips. "Why in the f**k would you want to do that?" I asked her. "Because it's my body and my decision. I don't want to carry a kid." "So, you'll kill a child because you want to be selfish?" "My choice. My decision." "f**k you and your f*****g decision. You're giving me something I always wanted, then you want to be a b***h and take it away from me. Why?" Natalie shook her head at me, then walked over to the couch. I groaned and leaned against the wall. I didn't want to be near her at that point because I was so mad. "I thought you would be accepting of my decision." Natalie said to me. "I don't accept that. You're taking something away. Something you and me created together." "Ayden, I didn't want a baby. I want to be a model. I don't want to be a mother." I pushed off the wall and walked over to her. Kneeling in front of her, I pushed the curly strand of hair out of her face and smiled. "I'm only going to say this once." I told her. "You kill my child and I'll be glad to take your life as well." I got up and walked to the door. "So, you're just going to threaten me because I don't want to have a child?" She asked me. I turned to her and shrugged. "Take it how you want to." I told her. "You thought of it as a threat and I thought of it as a promise. Kill my child and I wouldn't mind returning the favor to you." I walked back to the door and opened it, stepping out of the house. Right as I got to the car, I glanced up at Natalie, who was watching me from her front porch. I got into the car and was ready to head out. I needed to talk to my parents about this. *** "Wait, so she's pregnant?" Adonis asked me. "How are you so sure?" I sat at the table and shrugged my shoulders. "She should me a stick and it had the plus symbol on it." I told him. "This is what you wanted though, right?" Kieran asked me. Mother brought me a plate of food and I smiled at her before I dug in. I always loved her peppered steak with rice and cabbage. Father sat at the table across from me and sighed. "Are you going to tell your brother?" He asked me. I stopped eating and glanced at him. "To be honest, I don't even think I will have to tell him anything." I told them. "Your brother needs to know that'll he have a niece or a nephew on the way." Mother told me. "Not if there's no baby." Everybody glanced at me with confused looks. Everybody, except Adonis. "She wants to terminate the pregnancy, huh?" Adonis questioned me. "Yep." I admitted. "You're not going to let her do that are you?" Kieran asked me. "You have a say in that pregnancy." "Yeah, but in the human world, women have a choice in what they can and cannot do with their body." Father explained. "She could get it if she wants it." Just hearing that had me worried more. I was beginning to regret f*****g Natalie and I was starting to see why my brother told me to stop f*****g with her. Sighing, I finished my food, then got up. "Ayden..." Mother called me. "Where does Natalie stay?" I glanced at my mother and shook my head. As much as I wanted my mother to talk some sense into that girl, it was not her business. It was between Natalie and I. Nobody was in that bedroom, but me and her. So, I was going to do everything I could to make sure my child made a safe entry into the world. "I'm going to go talk to her some more." I told them. "If I need help, I'll let you guys know." "Okay baby." Mother sighed. "Be careful, okay?" I walked over to my mother and we hugged. Then, I left the kitchen and exited the house.
