The Battle That Started it All
(Gabriella POV)
“For what?” I demanded. “Tell me!”
“You and I are alike, you know. Two halves of a whole.” I looked at him, horrified.
“Alike? Never.”
“Oh, you have no idea. While the Moon Goddess gifted you with the power of the Gemini, Satan gifted me with his powers." he began to laugh eerily as I looked up at him fear running like ice through my veins.
Seems he can't stand that Goddess of ypurs, as much as I can't stand all these f*****g supernatural, higher than thou, species who took the world from humans and made us the lowest on the food chain. And finally, it is time. We will control the world once again.” He reached out with a shadowy hand and yanked me toward him by my throat.
His claws raked me, a slice of pain that burned like fire. It felt like it tore at my very soul, and I screamed. The moon’s energy surged into me, lighting me up like a live wire.
My entire body vibrated, and my breath came short. I looked up at the moon, drawing its strength into me. I’d never felt like this before.
My eyes searched for Jordan until I felt her hand enter mine holding onto me. Her wings unfurled and I watched as the moon poured it's energy into both of us at once completing the transformation of the Gemini. Surely, no one had ever felt like this before.
The sheer force of the power threatened to rip me apart. Every atom in my body felt like it wanted to tear away from the one next to it.
We had to do something with this energy—had to dissipate it. Use it against our enemies. It was the only way. I drew in a ragged breath, trying to keep from going to my knees. We raised our hands and directed it at the watcher.
The energy exploded out of us. Brilliant white light lit the room. It shot into our attackers, driving them backward.
He disappeared in a flash of black and white light, an impossible light show that reeked of death. I went to my knees, nearly blacked out from the pain. In my peripheral vision, I could see Jordan still standing.
The Maker’s unkillable forces were still here. I gasped, turning my attention to them. The energy still ran through Jordan, demanding to be released. I watched focused, as Jordan unleashed her power directly at them. I had no idea what she was really doing—I just prayed it would work.
All around, the Maker’s fighters fell. Beams of her brilliant white light slammed into them, driving them against the walls and piles of machinery.
They lay still, silent. Agony seared me, the force of the transition knocking me onto my back. My head slammed into the ground, and I blacked out.
(Jordan POV)
"Mom! Mom, wake up!” I shook her shoulders gently, trying to rouse her.
Fear iced my spine as I took in her pale, glowing face. Please be okay. When the power had left her entering me I’d felt it like a punch to the gut. The power was too much for her, as she was not fully a Gemini. I placed my palms on her chest and closed my eyes willing the rest of the power into my body from hers. I watched as the glowing in her face disputed and breathed out relieved when I head the soft thud of her heart.
Meanwhile, my bond with my mates had exploded to life, stronger than ever. My soul had felt pulled to theirs, the intensity of it stunning. The beast had woken inside me, growling MINE! I knew they too had recieved a bit of my gift as they stood by, fighting with everything they had to keep me and my mother alive long enough for us to do what we needed
. Finally, my mother managed to pry her eyes open.
“What happened?” Relief rushed through me.
“Are you all right?”
“I’m fine.” Wincing, she sat up.
“Um, not sure you are though,” Mom said looking up at me as everyone surrounded us, but in my fear, they’d been invisible to me.
“What?” I asked.
“You’re glowing,” Ky said from behind me.
And I was.
My skin had a faint luminescence, like that of the moon. It had been brighter when the power first surged through me, but it was still distinctly noticeable. I looked down at my hand, frowning.
“What the hell?” “Your whole body is glowing,” Raiden said.
“But it’s fading a bit.” my mother blinked, her gaze locked on my face, but she looked as though she might pass out again. Weakly, she asked,
“Did we win at least?”
“For now,” I said. “We took out the minions, but the watcher disappeared. He’ll be back though. Someone with that much rage won’t quit.”
“He’s so powerful.” She shivered, eyes stark. Mom looked around.
“Where’s your father?”
Shit. In my panic over her, I’d forgotten about dad. He’d been at the front of my mind until she’d been wounded. I looked up, searching for him. I spotted every single one of our pack, except for him. No. On the ground, mom swayed, her eyes fluttering shut. I reached for her, gripping her shoulders to lower her back down. Worry shot through me.
“Lie still.”
“Greyson?” she asked. I swallowed hard, dread rising inside me.
“We'll find dad.”
(Gabriella POV)
Sometime later, I woke in my bed. The pain was gone, but I felt weird. At my bedside, Jordan bolted upright. She’d been snoozing, and her hair was a wild mess of crimson around her head.
“How do you feel?”
“Fine.” I sat up.
“What time is it? “More like what day.”
“Huh?” I rubbed at my face, trying to wake up fully.
“You’ve been out cold for three days.”
“No way.”
“Way. Nanny hasn’t left the room since we brought you back here. It was all we could do to keep her from barging in here.”
“What about your dad?”
“We found him, badly injured but alive. He is in the pack hospital recovering. His wounds are healing slowly, and the doc doesnt know why."
“s**t. I need to get to him. With me close he will heal faster .”
“Not until ypur healed. He'll be okay until then." she pushed me back down and I reluctantly gave in not wanting to worry her anymore than she was.
“Is everyone else okay?”
“Besides some ugly wounds, yeah. Recovering fine.”
“Thank fates.”
“But you… Do you remember anything?” I searched my mind.
“You glowed.” I looked down at her hand on mine. “It stopped.”
“And thank fates it did. We had no idea what that was.
By the way, You’re just a shifter again and so is dad.” I felt for my ears, wincing when I realized they were no longer pointed.
Now that my daughter was fully awake, I could feel it, the Goddess had taken the gifts she had given me, because I no longer needed them. My bond with Greyson tugged me toward him, making my heart race.
“I need to get to your dad, I promise Im fine." She hesitated but finally nodded stepping back. Aching, I climbed out of the bed.
“Just give me a few minutes.” she nodded, I hurried to my dresser to put on jeans and a shirt, then finishing the outfit off with boots. A few minutes later, Jordan and I scrambled down the stairs, outside and to the hospital. As quickly as we could, we made our way across town.
Fortunately, we made it to my hospital without trouble. With every minute I sat by his side, my mind raced, going over what had happened. Wild new powers had appeared in my daughter and I remember The Watcher said something about having powers gifted to him from Satan. Not good. The mere idea terrified me.
Greyson's groans tore me out of my thoughts and I squeezed his hand tightly watching him blink his besutiful storm grey eyes open.
His eyes focused on me and he smiled, "Hey you." "Hey you."
I said back to him as a tear slipped down my cheek.
"Is Jordan Okay?" he asked worried.
"Jordan is great." I smiled moving his hair out of his eyes.
"We are Shifters once more, you and me. We're merely werewolves. Our daughter has fully evolved and will take over as Queen of the supernaturals." I told him smiling.
"You're still a badass." he joked and I laughed with him.
"I love you so very much." I kissed his hand and he gently squeezed mine.
"Now we can live life like we always wanted." he smiled down at me and I nodded placing his hand against my cheek.
"Just an Ole boring Alpha and his Luna." I laughed making him laugh as well when he winced.
"I'm so sorry." I cried.
"It's worth it, to see that smile on ypur face. A smile for so long I thought I would never see again."
(Jordan POV)
I blinked, staring at my stunned reflection in the bathroom mirror.
“I can’t hide as faerie anymore.” I looked at Kyran snd Raidon who stood behind me.
“What will I do?”
They grimaced unsure of what to say. I had hidden who I was for so long. I didn’t need to hide my species anymore. The truth was out about me.
Sure, I liked my faerie powers, and now that my transition was complete our bond also seemed to be so much stronger and my instincts were driving me crazy wanting me to mark my mates. Now I couldn’t hide from it… Holy fates. I turned and went to the door, swinging it open.
Raiden and Kyran stood their gaze dark with concern. The bond between us pulled so hard that it made me gasp.
“Jordan.” Ky gripped my shoulders.
“The bond. It’s too powerful.”
“Yeah. Um....” My heartrate rocketed. His eyes blazed with heat.
“I can’t feel like this.” I gasped, feeling the tug toward him.
The desire blooming inside.
Oh fates, how were we going to get out of this?
“I can’t.” I licked my lips, and his gaze dropped to them.
“Jordan.” Raiden drew in a shuddery breath, his eyes flashing black. It was only for a second, but it was clear as day.
The Blood Moon Curse. The Watcher had cursed our bond. Fear pierced me.
“Raiden, your eyes.” “I know.” He shuddered.
“You need to run, Jordan. Run.”
Kyran screamed as his eyes too went from black to their beautiful blue as he fought the curse.
I drew back from them, my skin icy. Without a backward glance, I slipped around his broad frame and ran from the building like my life depended on it.
And maybe it did.
I heard howls and growls moments later as I reach my car. I fumbled with the keys in my hand and finally unlocked the door.
A loud thud turned my attention toward the house. Raiden and Kyran stood there in their beast form with ack orbs that's earned their surrounding for me.
I jumped inside the car and quickly started it. As I sped out I could see them giving chase so I floored it.
Finally, after miles and miles I pulled ahead of them. My heart ached. I already missed them so much. Would I ever be able to return to them? Or would the curse kill us all? I hope you
