Alex had succeeded in staying away from Piers for most of the morning. It was partially her plan. Partially because it wasn't totally intentional of her to avoid him but she enjoyed her time with Maria and Isabel. Maria acted like a mother figure to her, although she was on good terms with her own mother who was still alive. Isabel was like the younger sister she wished she had but never did. She enjoyed hanging out with them.
It was now slightly past 12 PM and she was sitting alone in her room. She was on her iPhone going through her social media feed when she heard a gentle knock on her door.
"I'll be at the door soon", she said. Her tone of voice was equally gentle and she had doubts the person outside her room heard her.
