Piers and Alex walked into the dining room hand in hand. Alex was happy to be by his side as they walked in, where the others were seated waiting for them.
"Finally they are here, we can eat now", Samantha whispered to her mom but her volume was still loud enough that Alex heard it.
"Good evening. I am sorry I kept you waiting at the dinner table", Piers apologised. He too had heard what Samantha said.
"Good evening. It's fine now you are here. We were expecting you to arrive much later actually", Philip said. Alex looked at the wall clock for the time and she could see it was 7:09 PM. They arrived one minute earlier than she had anticipated.
"Glad I did disappoint", Piers said, smiling. Alex could see that Philip and Ruth both smiled back at his joke. Lucy on the other hand didn't smi
