CHAPTER THIRTEEN UH OH We found the dead store clerk’s house after that. It was starting to get dark, and we were all worn out, frazzled, too pooped to pop. Almost. I mean, really, how much energy does it take to pop, right? It was a small place, just barely large enough for the group of us. By then the captain had risen, so we stashed him and the private in a smallish attic along with a couple of fans and some food and water, so at least they wouldn’t melt or starve to death. “If you’re thinking about climbing out the window, don’t,” I told them. “The zombies are outside waiting for you.
