Wolves Wait For No Man

Thom’s POV: It was finally time. There was a faint scratching sort of sensation in my head, I made sure to relax as much as possible, focussing on that feeling, because I knew it was my wolf. I was lying on my bed, I still had about half an hour before shift time and I wanted to have this first meeting privately. I felt a little bad that Nixie wouldn’t get this, we would change together once her wolf emerged, at exactly the time of her birth, but as I was slightly older I could indulge a few minuets to bond with my wolf. The scratching sensation increased both in frequency and force, I thought for a moment something was wrong, but then... cool, calm, bliss... ‘Hello?’ I asked, tentatively. There was a pause and then, a very deep rumbly voices spoke clear as day inside my head. ‘Hello Thom, it’s good to finally meet you.’ I grinned, ‘and you too, what’s your name?’ ‘My name is Raoul’ he said proudly. We talked fo a few more minutes before we had to join the party out in the gardens. I couldn’t wait to see what Raoul looked like. Nixie’s POV: I stood centre circle outside the pack house, Thom beside me was standing proud and eager, wearing only his boxers, rippling golden muscles catching the moonlight in the most beautiful way. I was desperately trying not to look at him, but his eyes were unashamedly, unwaveringly on me. I was still in my dress, I didn’t see the point of taking it off in front of all these people, not while I was still waiting for my wolf. I heard a clock strike ten, cheers rose from the partygoers, I heard my family shouting Happy Birthday, I saw huge smiles and expectant eyes. I waited for the pain in my head that I’d been warned of... but it didn’t come. ‘Please turn round.’ Said a smooth honey like voice from inside me. My eyes went wide, ‘who..? Are you my wolf?’ I asked. ‘Yes, yes, I’m Lowe.’ Said the voice. ‘Now please turn round, can’t you smell it?’ I frowned a little, raised my nose to the air, and inhaled... the smell of warm cinnamon, and vanilla flooded my nostrils, I outwardly moaned, as I turned to find the source of the smell. “Thom,” I whispered, his eyes were darker than I’d ever seen them before, so he was mine after all. “Mate!” Came a voice far to deep from between his lips. It must be his wolf - I thought, suddenly nervous and taking a step back. A look of hurt flashed across his handsome face. Before I could do anything though Lowe seized control. I felt myself being pushed to the back of my own mind.... Thom’s POV: I couldn’t tear my eyes of off her, she smelt so good it was all I could do to kept from drooling in front of everyone. ‘Could she be..?’ I asked Raoul. Raoul was panting inside my head, tongue lolling out of his mouth, a clock struck ten and he howled with anticipation. ‘YES.’ She turned to look at me, beautiful green eyes wide, she said my name, and it was instantly my favourite sound.  ‘Mate!’ Raoul’s voice came from my mouth.  She stepped back and I suddenly felt panicked, she wouldn’t reject me would she... Her eyes turned black and I watched amazed as she shifted flawlessly - no screaming, or discomfort, or drawn out breaking of bones. It was so quick, like she’d been doing it for years. Her dress lay in tatters on the ground, and where she had stood just seconds earlier, was a small white wolf with golden paws, and green eyes, she was incredible - I thought. ‘Perfect, our mate, is perfect’ Raoul corrected. She bounded past me in a playful, yet seductive manner and swept her fluffy tail across my face, before disappearing into the forest. I was vaguely aware of our parents and the rest of the pack talking, as they watched, but my focus was elsewhere, I needed to catch her now. I willed Raoul to the surface , and together we began to shift. I could hear my own badly suppressed cries of pain, as I clearly felt each and every bone in my body break and reform. Hair sprouted from my paws, and my face elongated into my wolf’s snout. It felt like it lasted forever, but once it was over, I heard cheers, as I raced away following my mates scent deep into the forest. The thrill was pure exhilaration, she had stopped now and I was getting nearer. But there was a second scent growing more potent, caramel, I’d smelt it this morning too when the guests arrived.  Raoul quickened his pace, until he emerged by a small brook in a clearing, stopping next to Nixie’s wolf. She was staring across, the brook at a glossy black she wolf, who in turn was focused intently on the two of us. ‘Mates!’ Said Raoul, nuzzling Nix and crossing the stream. Eva’s POV:  I couldn’t believe it, I had gone for a run in my wolf form, and was heading back towards White Star, I knew I was late for the shifting, but I didn’t really care. Not after the day I’d had, I really just wanted to be alone. I wasn’t too far away when the most succulent smells hit me. ‘It’s them, it’s them!’ Cried Skye, ‘our mate, we finally found them!’ ‘Who is it?’ I asked her eagerly. Into view came a small white she wolf with startling green eyes and golden paws, my heart raced faster. But that was only part of the scent, I was confused for a moment until another wolf emerged beside her. A huge copper wolf with grey eyes, he nuzzled the first then they both crossed over to me. The three wolves greeted each other, and I retreated happily to the back of our shared mind, I knew things would get heated fast, they always did with wolves. - Skye has been waiting just as long as me, I would allow her this time to bond with her mates, and I would meet them after. - I couldn’t believe it two mates!
