The Jade Moon Luna

1234 Words
Eva’s POV: The sooner we arrived at the White Star Pack the sooner we could get home, the sooner I could get away from that sorry excuse of a husband of mine! I thought trying to block out the groans of him and his mate opposite me in our limousine. It wasn’t that I was jealous, all though because of my mark it would always hurt, but I was happy for them - on the whole that is. I just couldn’t believe how badly things had worked out, it was such a stupid situation, and things between the two of us had been on a downwards spiral ever since he’d met Margot two years ago. The Moon Goddess must hate me, I thought. “She doesn’t hate us.” Said Skye, my wolf inside my head.  “One day we’ll find our mate too, then the elders will let us end this mess!” I sighed to myself, I knew she was right, but it had been years, I was twenty-two years old, and I hadn’t found them yet.  I could hear Margot and Felix’s breathing getting more and more erratic, so at least they would be finished before we arrived. I forced myself to look out the window, as they screamed each other’s names, and slumped down in a heap. I cursed my wolf’s heightened senses, as no detail was lost, I could hear her licking him clean, even as his scent ran down her legs. “Five Minuets.” Called the driver. Thank the Goddess... Nixie’s POV: We all convened to greet the visiting pack leaders in front of our pack house, I counted twelve black limousines, a couple of Lamborghinis, and a Ferrari reader than my hair.  Guest rooms had been prepared on all three upper floor in our home, and even then I wasn’t sure we actually had enough space for them all. My Mum and Dad greeted most like old friends, and Mal and Casey greeted them after with a mixture of eager excitement, and polite interest. I smiled watching them, definitely more excited for tomorrow than tonight. I recognised members of our neighbouring packs and said my own salutations, as was expected as the Alpha’s daughter.  After a few minuets there were only a couple more packs to welcome, and I heard Thom close by take a sharp breath, and his body stiffened. “What’s up?” I said, turning my head to look at him - goddess he was beautiful. He seemed startled to see me next to him, “umm nothing, nothing..” he mumbled and walked away. I followed his grey/blue eyes though, and felt a small warmth in my lower abdomen, “Wow!” I breathed so quietly. She was beautiful! I was surprised when a man and another woman emerged from the car also they looked a little bedraggled honestly, the man draped his arms around both women and walked over to us. I noticed that neither woman seemed happy with this arrangement. “Welcome Alpha Felix,” greeted my father, “ Luna’s Margot, and Eva.” He finished bowing politely to both ladies. What?? I thought, how can he have two lunas!? The First woman Eva, flinched visibly at this, and spoke before her husband could. “Thank you Alpha Henry, it’s a pleasure to be here. Luna” she said turning to my mum, “did you receive my communications, I sent them ahead of us?” Mum looked shocked but she composed herself quickly, “Yes, Luna Eva, I was a little confused, but an adjoining room has been prepared for you. Perhaps my daughter in law Casey could show it to you?” “Thank you, please lead the way.” She said to Casey, strolling right past her, through the front door. The other two mumbled apologies and hurried after her, Casey grinned at me her eyes wide, “I like her!” She muttered as she passed. ... “What was up with those guests, the Luna seemed really put out?” I asked.  My mother and Casey were helping change for the ceremony, in just a couple more hours I would be stood with Thom and we’d shift. I needed to be able to stirp out of my clothes quickly or they old be torn apart as my body changed. “Who, Luna Eva?” Asked my mum. “Yeah, she didn’t seem happy with the other two, and how weird to have two mates!” I said flinging another dress into the discard pile. Way too many buttons - I thought.  “Well it’s not as uncommon as you’d think, although I’ve only known a few where that’s been the case. At Jade Moon though I believe the situation is different. You see Eva doesn’t have a mate.”  I gasped and so did Casey “So the other two are...?” Asked Casey. “Yes.” Said my mother, “ Felix and Eva are chosen mates, but the connection is not the same, so when he met Margot, he married her too.” “But why wouldn’t they break up, I know its not normal for wolves, but why keep a chosen mate when you have a fated one! No wonder they all seem upset.” I said. I put on a deep, purple maxie version of the dress I’d worn earlier it was loose and light with an elasticated empire band so I’d be able to step out of it easily later. “Thing’s have always been a bit different at the Jade Moon pack,” said mum, she’d majored in ancient werewolf history so I knew she’d know all the strange details.  “A long time ago the Alpha Beau of Jade Moon was mated to a witch, but he rejected her, because their two tribes were at war, but not before impregnating her. The story has many variants, but most say that the witch killed the Alpha, making her daughter the reigning Luna, she then put a powerful hex on her daughter so that her bloodline would only ever have girls. It’s just a story now, and probably miles from what the truth really was, but Jade Moon is the only pack I know of where the alpha power is always past down through the females. So he can’t divorce Eva without loosing his position as Alpha.” She explained Casey whistled beside me, I felt a pang in my heart that I couldn’t quite explain.  “No wonder she wanted her own room, that must really suck.” I said solemnly.  My mum hugged me to her, “Try not to fret my love, you look beautiful darling, are you ready to go down?” I nodded. “Alright,” shouted Casey brightly grinning at me, “lets get this party started. Can I get an - aahwwooo?” I laughter her, shaking my head at her ridiculous fake howling, she was hilarious.
