**Blood of the Forgotten Alpha**

She woke up marked.

The blood bond burned across her skin like a brand of ownership, tying her soul to the one man she had sworn to destroy. Kael, the ruthless Alpha of the Shadowfang Pack, the same monster whose wolves had slaughtered her family and left her the sole survivor of a once-proud bloodline. Everyone said the mark was a death sentence. In their world, a rejected omega forced into a mate bond with her greatest enemy had only one fate: submission or the grave.

But the bond is incomplete. Something older and far more dangerous already claimed a piece of her long before Kael’s teeth ever touched her throat. Night after night the incomplete mark twists inside her, feeding her visions of a m******e that does not match the story she has been told, of a hybrid bloodline that should not exist, and of a prophecy rewritten in blood. The more she fights the connection, the stronger it becomes, dragging her into a web of pack politics, forbidden power, and a war that has been simmering in the shadows for generations.

Kael is not the simple villain she believed. He is a hybrid carrying the same forbidden blood that runs through her veins, a man who claims he was framed for the destruction of her pack, and a mate whose dominance both terrifies and awakens something feral inside her. Every forced proximity, every charged confrontation, every moment of hate that edges too close to desire pulls them deeper into a dangerous dance neither of them can escape. Allies turn into enemies. The dead refuse to stay buried. And the person who has been quietly guiding her from the darkness may be the very architect of the s*******r that orphaned her.

As rival packs close in and an ancient gate between worlds begins to stir, the incomplete bond becomes both their greatest weakness and their only hope. Completing it could crown them as the most powerful pair the shifter world has ever seen… or it could open a door that consumes everything. With every chapter the stakes rise higher, the secrets grow darker, and the line between love and destruction blurs beyond recognition.

In a story driven by relentless suspense, shocking betrayals, and an enemies-to-lovers tension that refuses to break, one rejected omega must decide whether to finish the mate bond that was never meant to exist or destroy the only force strong enough to save them both.

The mark
**Chapter 1** **The Mark** Pain dragged her back to consciousness like a hook through the ribs. Lyra’s eyes flew open. The ceiling above her was stone, black and veined with silver that pulsed faintly in the dark. Not her ceiling. Not her room. The air smelled of smoke, pine, and blood—old blood, new blood, and something metallic that clung to the back of her throat. She tried to sit up. Chains rattled. Iron cuffs bit into her wrists, bolted to the wall on either side of the narrow bed. Her bare feet scraped cold stone. She wore a thin black shift that stuck to her skin where blood had dried. Every breath scraped her lungs raw. Then she felt it. A burning brand across the left side of her throat, just above the collarbone. The skin was swollen, hot, and throbbing in time with her heartbeat. She twisted her head as far as the chains allowed and caught the edge of the mark in the dim light: a crescent of teeth, overlapping, sealed with a second, deeper bite that looked almost ceremonial. Mate mark. Her stomach turned to ice. No. No, no, no— The door at the far end of the chamber opened without a sound. He stepped inside like he owned the dark. Tall. Broad-shouldered. Black hair falling past his jaw. Eyes the color of winter steel. The same eyes she had last seen through smoke and screaming the night her pack burned. Alpha Kael of the Shadowfang. The butcher who had ordered every living soul in her bloodline slaughtered. He stopped at the foot of the bed and looked down at her the way a man looks at something he has already decided to keep. “You’re awake,” he said. His voice was low, almost quiet. “Good.” Lyra’s throat worked. The words came out cracked. “You marked me.” “I did.” “While I was unconscious.” “You would have fought.” A faint, humorless curve touched the corner of his mouth. “I don’t have time for theatrics.” Rage flooded the cold. She lunged as far as the chains allowed, teeth bared. The iron cut deeper into her wrists. “I’ll kill you.” “You’ll try.” He stepped closer, unhurried. “The bond is already started. Fighting it will only make the fever worse.” She felt it then—a low, wrong pull beneath her ribs, as if something invisible had hooked into her and was slowly tightening. The mark on her throat pulsed harder. Heat spilled down her spine. She clenched her jaw against a sound that wanted to escape. Kael watched her struggle with clinical interest. “Your pack is gone. Your Alpha is dead. You have no rank, no protection, and no allies left alive. The only reason you’re still breathing is because that mark is on your skin.” “I’d rather die.” “That option is no longer yours.” He reached into his coat and drew out a small silver vial. The liquid inside glowed faint blue. Without another word he uncorked it, grabbed her jaw with one hand, and forced the contents past her lips. Bitter cold flooded her mouth. She choked, spat, tried to turn her head. He held her until she swallowed. The fever under the mark eased slightly, but the pull between them only strengthened. Kael released her and stepped back. “That will keep you from burning out for the next few hours. The bond is incomplete. Until it is finished, every hour you resist will hurt more than the last.” Lyra’s voice came out raw. “Why? Why mark me?” For the first time something flickered behind those cold eyes—something that was not triumph. “Because the people who ordered your pack’s destruction are still looking for the last blood of the old line,” he said quietly. “And because the mark they wanted on you was never mine.” The words landed like a second brand. She stared at him. The chamber suddenly felt smaller. The silver veins in the stone seemed to pulse faster. Kael turned toward the door. “Rest while you can. At dawn the Council will demand to see the new mate of the Shadowfang Alpha. If you try to escape before then, the bond will drag you back, and I will not be gentle the second time.” The door closed behind him with a soft, final click. Lyra sat chained in the dark, the taste of the silver liquid still bitter on her tongue, the unfinished mark throbbing like a second heart. Somewhere deep in her chest the bond whispered, low and insistent, and for the first time since the night the sky turned red she felt something colder than hatred. Fear. Because the man who had just left the room had not looked like a conqueror claiming a prize. He had looked like a man who had just made a terrible, irreversible mistake. And the mark on her throat was still changing.
