Chapter 2

Six months later …

As the saying went, enemies were bound to meet on a narrow road.

Now it really happened.

Vany was only thankful that her face was not clearly seen in the sauna room, but it was clearly not easy for her to muddle through, seeing Diego’s car driving in, Kai took Vany’s hand and was about to go over, but as soon as he took her hand, she flinched her hand away as if she touched a dreadful animal.

Kai paused and looked at her, seeing her deadpan, he smiled and said “sorry, I forgot you don’t like people touching you”.

In fact,Kai was about twenty three, just five years older than her, but unlike Vany who was cold, mature and unpredictable, he was not quite mature.

Vany took a cold glance at the black hummers van and said “your base is not suitable for me, and take your gun back, I don’t want it anymore, I will be off in a minute”.

Vany was scared for the first time in her life, she didn’t want to relive that scary memory of her exchanging combat with Diego, the only person who was better than her in martial arts, but to her surprise, Kai refused to let her go.

“Where are you going?,thank you for the two days, not only did you save my life, you also cleaned my wound, how on earth can I treat my benefactor like this” Kai said gratingly

How could she tell Kai that she deliberately did it so as to get into the XI base, but seeing Diego as the boss, her interest for the XI base vanished, she didn’t want to spend a minute with that scary man.

“Didn’t you say, you didn’t have a place to live?,since you are very good in martial arts, why don’t you just stay in our XI base” Kai whispered to her

“You know that not just anyone can stay in the XI base, but I am sure that with your skills, you will be training with us in no time, besides you saved my life, you can be admitted as long as I introduce you to the drill master. And our boss has some family matters so deal with, so he doesn’t spend much time in the base, so the drill master is responsible for the member recruitment, although our boss is very difficult to get along with, our drill master is, so you can be rest assured, you will be able to stay here”

Vany:” “

She didn’t want to stay here anymore, that fearful man(Diego) hunted her for days.

“Do you want to see our boss”. “No”

Vany’s response was simple and clear that even Kai looked at her in surprise, who didn’t want to see Diego Alonzo, the most eligible bachelor in New York?

However Vany remained deadpan, and no one could decipher what she was thinking about.

As the black hummer stopped, many men came up to greet Diego but Vany had no intention of approaching it, she turned and walked to the back of the crowd, arms around her chest silently looking at the car surrounded and thinking.

XI base was indeed the best military training base in the United States, it was connected to both the underworld and the police so no one dared to mess with them. Besides this place was said to be top notch and a lot of noveau rich people were here from different families in US, so this place was the best place to find her family.

Provided that they were willing to accept her, her only issue was that fearful man(Diego)

If Diego didn’t find her true gender in the orphanage, she could stay.

Diego was the boss of the base and there were so many members of the base. There were Atleast several hundreds in the base, in addition to many that were out in a mission or served in the police. It seemed that a man with high hierarchy would notice her, a lowly peasant.

“It seemed that he only attacked me because I accidentally bumped into him, while taking a bath, and saw him naked” she naively thought.

He was posed of because of the anger and her provocation.

There was no animosity between them and they didn’t even seem to know each other before, so he didn’t seem to pay attention to her.

At the end, when Vany saw Kai, standing not faraway from her, she said “ isn’t he your boss, why don’t you go over?”

“Our boss is actually cold hearted and grumpy, but he has done a great job, and no one in the base can beat him, besides a lot of brothers are particularly warm to him because of their worship for him” Kai coughed and gave an awkward smile “ I wanted to go over and greet him in the first place, but you are here, I can’t leave you alone, besides even if I go ther he won’t even notice me. My martial skills are not good enough to attract master’s attention, so I don’t expect to be noticed by him. It is pointless to me to go suck up to him now”

Vany smirked “your martial arts are not bad, you just need time”

Kai glanced at her “how old are you?, I need time? Then what about you?”

Vany smiled coldly “eighteen, but I grew up with America’s most famous gangster since I was one and was even often used as a decoy, leading to me learning survival at a very young age, at the age of ten I began to learn how to shoot, are you sure you want to discuss age with me?”

“Such a big stepper!” Kai muffled under his breath.

He only entered XI base at the age of twenty and had only received three years worth of training. No wonder the gap in strength between him and her was so wide.

In the near distance, when Diego got off the car, the people around sensitively noticed that the air around their boss suddenly seemed to freeze.

As known to many people, although their boss was the eldest grandson of the Alonzo family who owned a multi billion dollar enterprise, he didn’t seem to contact his family much, but he suddenly went back to the Alonzo family recently, and no one knew the reason. But judging from their Boss’ face, they had to thread carefully these following days.

Just then, out of the corner of his eyes, he caught a glimpse of the figures situated at the corner of the crowd. When he caught a glimpse of Kai,he remained expressionless and then he suddenly paused for a second and looked over there again.

The king like man, suddenly at somewhere and a cold gleam flickered across his eyes, and everyone else also looked in that direction.

“Boss…you”

The man raised his hands and signaled them to shut up.

A gesture from him silenced the whole crowd.

Diego would only speak to the memebers when he wanted them to strengthen their training. The new and semi members who were still in training could rarely get boss’ attention. Even many of the older members, who had completed different dangerous missions did not get a chance close to boss, but boss who had seemed indifferent to everything, seemed to be attracted now .

Who was that guy?

They knew Kai but who was that guy behind Kai, his short black hair just reached the auricle. Although being coldly stared by Diego, he was also still casual and calm without any extra reaction.

The boy’s figure looked quite familiar from a distance.

Diego looked in that direction coldly, slipped one hand into his trouser pocket, and walked over.
