Eyes

I could feel the eyes of all the people looking right at me and Lorcan. "You can talk here." I gestured to everyone around me. "I would like a private place for this conversation." Lorcan rolled his eyes. " These people are part of my life, I have nothing to hide from them." I rolled my eyes and looked directly at Lorcan. "Really?" Lorcan took a step closer to me. I could smell Lorcan's strong scent mixed with the bright cologne. My wolf twitched anxiously at his sudden step forward. I stayed still and looked straight into his eyes. I didn't want to avert my eyes or lower my gaze, because that would be like admitting that I was afraid of him. He ran one hand through his black hair and shifted his centre of gravity from one leg to the other. I looked at him from head to toe. He wore black shoes and black jeans. Underneath his white shirt, the top of which was slightly unbuttoned, you could see a hard-trained body. "I've come to report on your job description, which is already set." Lorcan smiled with his white teeth. "That would be?" I asked in a calm tone. "Easy job." Lorcan winked. I could feel my jaw tense up as I clenched my teeth hard. I'm sure that everyone standing there could see Lorcan winking at me. It was not a flirt like everyone here thinks. These words mean something more than 'easy job'. "That's it?" I said through gritted teeth. "Yes." Lorcan said shortly. "Great, I'm going back to enjoy my party." I turned around and walked towards the depths of the park. "Be safe Amelia." Lorcan's cold voice reached my ears. I could feel Lorcan's angry gaze fixed on my back. I sat down on the nearest bench and put one foot on it. I turned my head slightly and before my eyes I could see a beautiful green park so reminiscent of home. My sensitive werewolf hearing pick footsteps close to me. Instinctively I turned my head towards the direction of the sound and Lilly appeared before my eyes. "How are you?" Her gentle hand touched my shoulder. Soon she took her place next to me and looked at the trees. It was difficult to know the exact answer to her question. Lorcan seemed to have walked away and gave permission to the weaker ones to get on with their lives. I gritted my teeth and my eyes flashed a pale yellow colour. I hate this werewolf with all my feelings. "Amelia. " Mum's voice reached my ears. I turned my gaze towards my mother, only now I was completely calm, and my outburst of anger disappeared for the moment. "Yes, Mom?" I smiled a little. " We'll talk about it when we get home." Mum smiled, tucking a strand of my hair behind my ear. "Sure." I replied shortly. Mum soon walked off to join the guests who were gathering in places. I could feel my wolf inside me just shaking. I knew that this trembling was not for nothing. Of course I would have loved to make his face hurt with my teeth, but everyone would have been scared. They would find out about me and then there would be a million problems and I don't need any more of them. I sighed at the thought and turned towards Lilly who was still sitting next to me. "Let's get out of here, somewhere," I raised an eyebrow at Lilly. "As far away from here as possible." she whispered. I gave my hand to Lilly and in one easy motion, I pulled her towards me. Lilly and I walked slowly towards the depths of the park, which eventually intersected with the main village road. And beyond that the real world begins, without benches and lights. "I can't believe he's here again." Lilly muttered to herself. "It's like he lives in the shadows." I sighed. " He'll have you forever in eight days, I don't think there's any need to spoil every last day of your freedom." said Lilly indignantly. "Amelia." Mum's loud voice reached my ears. Lilly and I had almost reached the exit of the park. I turned over my shoulder and saw my mother standing quite a distance away. "Yes," I said out loud. " Come back before it gets dark." Mum waved and smiled. I waved and smiled to show that I would come back as told. After a few more steps, a large road with a huge field of wheat behind it caught my eye. "Finally, a break from negative thoughts." Lilly exclaimed, stretching her arms out to the side. "Something like that." I smiled half a smile. Inside I was feeling very strange at the moment. As if part of me was very tired and wanted to sleep. I felt like I was in a daze, but for some reason I managed to keep going. "So what is our goal?" Lilly said, looking over her shoulder. "When I see you, I'll tell you." I smiled as big as I could. After a huge meadow we were finally greeted by a forest. My feet could feel the soft forest moss under my boots and the birds chirping in the trees nearby. I smiled at how nature can make me feel. It's like a place where I always feel at home. Judging by the sun shining through the treetops, it is probably eleven o'clock. The weather was not very conducive to my summer clothes. Fortunately for me I hardly felt the cold, it was just cool and that did not bother me. "What do you think he meant by easy work?" Lilly's voice broke the silence. "I hope it's housework, not building his new fence." I rolled my eyes. "Do you think he'd be so cruel as to tell you to do men's work?" Lilly rolled her eyes. " It's not called s*****y for nothing, girl." I smiled broadly. " I don't think he's that cruel." Lilly smiled half a smile. " Aren't you afraid of him?" I rolled my eyes at her. " I don't doubt that he's cruel and everything. I wouldn't want to have a face-to-face conversation with him. Nevertheless, I have seen the way he looks at you." Lilly whispered. "What?" I said and laughed out loud. "He wouldn't hurt you Amelia." Lilly rolled her eyes. " Just because he needs me to work for him for the rest of his life." I muttered. " Don't be so pessimistic." Lilly punched me in the shoulder. " Okay then, tell me about your ideal boyfriend." I said smiling. "He should be dark brown - Lilly's voice finally leveled out like an identical ringing in my ears. I knew every word she was going to say because this topic had been brought up probably a million times. I couldn't help but ask because I love to see her eyes start to shine. how much she talks with all sorts of fruitcakes and facial expressions. At that moment I could immerse myself in my thoughts. I could hardly wrap my head around what it meant to have such a Lorcan visit. He seemed more serious and self-confident than ever. These thoughts probably caused a few wrinkles to form in my forehead. "Amelia are you listening?" Lilly's voice brought me back to the dialogue. "Yes." I smiled half a smile. "Where are your thoughts going?" Lilly smiled broadly. "Away from reality." I rolled my eyes. "No, she's serious, what's going on in your head?" Lilly rolled her eyes. I know she could see right through me. In so many years of communication she knew every muscle in my face when I was lying, when I was smiling or hiding tears. I sighed heavily and looked into her eyes. " It's hard to accept, you know. With the idea that I have to go away and leave all the people I care about. I wish I hadn't been born at a time like this." I turned my eyes away into the woods. "There is a chance for all of us Amelia. I know it's hard for you. But you cannot live with the pain of these years of s*****y. You have to gain strength and take everything you can from this life." Lilly blinked. "One simple reminder that I have two personalities, one of which is much more emotional than the other. For her, my wolf feels sad, for me, tears well up. She is happy, I can hardly contain my smile. All my emotions are heightened." I looked at Lilly out of the corner of my eye. "I know, darling, but you've been living with this for seventeen years, you're very good at controlling it and hiding it from others. I know it's harder for you right now than it is for me. I have yet to experience it, and you are here and now." Lilly smiled half a smile. "Eight days, not here and now." I punched Lilly in the shoulder. "Eight days." Lilly exclaimed loudly. Lilly's voice echoed through the forest. After a long journey, we finally came to a clearing in the forest. The sun shone high in the sky and the tall meadow swayed beautifully in front of us. In the middle of the meadow was a huge oak tree with its branches and leaves forming a large shade. "I'm taking a break." Lilly started to run across the meadow. "You're cheating." I shouted as I ran to bite her. Laughing out loud, we both snuggled under the oaks and looked up through the branches at the blue sky. Every now and then we could see another dark cloud that could bring nothing but rain. "Look there's a giraffe." Lilly pointed her finger at the sky. My eyes darted in the direction Lilly pointed. The bright white cloud had a long neck and two small protrusions. I smiled broadly and started to explore the sky with my eyes. My eyes fell on a large white cloud that looked like an elephant. I am not going to lie, this cloud is a pure elephant. "Look an elephant." I pointed my finger at the cloud. We lay like that for probably an hour. Lilly lazily got up from the ground and stretched out her hand in my direction to help me get off the ground. "Enough lying down, it's time to go." Lilly said lazily. "You want to go home already?" I smiled as I looked around. "Probably had too much cake." Lilly laughed out loud. '" You won't know when to stop eating." I stepped next to Lilly. We walked side by side through a large meadow until finally a large forest met our eyes. It was as if my bad feeling had been erased. I still felt a little strange, but it was all in the past. We climbed up a small hill which met us as we left the forest. When we finally reached the top, we both burst out laughing. Before our eyes, somewhere in the distance, we could see the city. Or rather, we could see what was left of the city. After the war between the werewolves and the humans, most of the towns remained uninhabited. Only windowless buildings with cars in the middle of the road stand. Somewhere, traffic lights are flashing and shop signs are broken. "How do you think werewolves will ever live in peace with humans?" Lilly's voice reached me. "Maybe when they understand each other." I shrugged. "What do you mean?" Lilly asked, raising an eyebrow. "Werewolves have a side to them that often acts on instinct, but humans take a more casual approach, they get over all the feelings." I said as I looked out at the ruined city. "Looking at the behaviour of werewolves at the moment, they're completely beastly." Lilly laughed out loud. "You know the war started for a reason." I looked at Lilly out of the corner of my eye. "Well, yes, humans started the war by killing one of the Alphas." Lilly sighed. " We are partly to blame for our current situation." I said calmly. " I guess we should be glad we still have the freedom to walk around." Lilly shrugged her shoulders. "One has to hope that one day we will be able to forgive people for their cruelty." I turned my eyes away from Lily towards the city. "Now you talk like them." Lilly smiled. "Sometimes it's all crazy, you know?" I said, lifting the corner of my lips. "Having two personalities in one body?" Lilly said with a wink. "Pretending to be something I'm not, pretending to be completely free." I raised my eyes to the clouds that circled over the city. "I'm glad you can be your true self around me." Lilly put her arm around my shoulders. "It's going to rain." I pointed my finger at the dark clouds over the city. " We should probably head for home." Lilly looked at me questioningly. " Let's get going, or we'll come back completely wet." I turned on my heel and headed into the depths of the mass. Although the sun was still warming up, the wind had gone from warm to brisk. We hurriedly made our way through the bushes and trees towards our destination - home. The sun was shouting that it was already evening and the dark grey clouds seemed to be just around the corner. I knelt under a tree, breathing deeply. The whole hike through the woods was at a pretty fast pace so I had to stop for a moment. " Well done." Lilly laughed, leaning against a tree. I looked at her and she was breathing loudly and struggling to catch her breath. I laughed hard and stood next to her. Soon my sensitive hearing heard the first drops of rain touching the ground. In just a few seconds it started to rain harder and harder. "Perhaps we should wait for it to clear up?" Lilly looked at the dark clouds above our heads. "Are you going to sit here for three hours?" I raised an eyebrow at her. "Then we're moving on." Lilly walked towards the meadow that led towards the house. I followed Lilly and cold raindrops started falling on my face. And so began our journey towards home. After the first twenty steps we were completely wet. The white wet shorts stuck uncomfortably to my skin. The skin on my legs felt like goose bumps from the cool drops of water, and my hair was sticking around my face. I wouldn't say it was one of the best trips. Finally, the main village road appeared before my eyes. We were almost out of the forest when my eyesight deteriorated instantly. I had to stop because I could hardly see where to go. "Amelia, are you all right?" Lilly's caring voice reached my ears. "Yes give me a second." I stuck out my finger to show that I was stopping. I felt overwhelmed and my eyes refused to see. It wasn't that I couldn't see anything, but that the fetus in front of my eyes was actually blurred. A hard stab in the chest made me clutch at the spot. I felt panic overwhelm me, because I had never felt anything like it before. After another burst of pain near my heart, I had to kneel with one foot on the wet forest ground. "Amelia?" Lilly's hand touched my shoulder. "Something's wrong with me." I said in a weak voice. "Give me your hand, we can't stay here." Lilly took my hand. I stood on my feet and took the first steps carefully. After two more steps, I felt my body completely weighed down and I lost my balance. The sky in front of my eyes instantly turned dark. Somewhere in the distance I think I hear a voice. "Amelia, someone help me, please." Lilly shouted at the top of her voice. I opened my eyes with difficulty and the first fruit to come into focus was Lilly's tearful face. She was kneeling next to me, completely wet and scared. Neither of us knew the reason for what was happening to me now. "Amelia stay with me, you hear? Please don't close your eyes." Lilly stroked my arm. My eyes wanted to rest for a moment. It seemed that if I closed my eyes and rested for a while I would be full of strength again. Eventually my eyelids closed completely. I opened my eyes for the last time and somewhere in the darkness I saw golden eyes with red rims. There seemed to be someone else's words in the distance "Lorcan....don't know....well...."
