I opened my eyes with difficulty and was greeted by a completely unfamiliar room. I was lying in a huge double bed. My eyes explored the room, which was a pale cream colour. A huge white chest of drawers with a bouquet of flowers sat against one wall, and on the other wall a huge window was decorated with luxurious crimson curtains. Outside the window I could see forests and a large body of water. There were two doors in the wall in front of me. One probably led to the bathroom and the other to freedom. I quickly sat down on the edge of the bed. Instantly I felt sorry for my head, which had become heavy. I was distracted by the opening door, which of course was to freedom. At this moment my eyes were on my forehead. Before my eyes stood none other than Lorcan himself. I felt my wolf instantly wake up and bared her teeth. I didn't get up from the bed, I just stared blankly and didn't understand the reason why he was there. Of course I didn't even know where I was.
"How do you feel?" Lorcan's rich voice reached my ears.
"I need to get home." I said quickly.
I saw Loran's face instantly tighten and her eyes turn slightly golden. I knew it was rude to do that, but I didn't belong here. I need my freedom, it is not time for me to stay here.
"It wasn't me you could have killed." Loran rolled her eyes and yawned towards me.
"Thank you for everything, but I still have my freedom." I retorted sternly.
"As you wish." Lorcan smiled slightly.
I hesitated for a moment, I didn't know why he was smiling. I sat up from the bed, thankfully my head felt a little better. I tilted my head lower so I could see my clothes. Of course he was smiling because I was wearing his jacket where I was above my knees. I turned to Lorcan instantly and raised an eyebrow. I couldn't believe he was touching me. I felt my hands start to shake, so I instantly hid them behind my back.
"Your clothes were wet, they should have been removed before you reached the bed." Lorcan said without emotion.
"Don't you ever touch me again," I said through gritted teeth.
"Your clothes are on the chair by the window. Go on, I'll take you home." Lorcan smiled and sat on the edge of the bed.
My eyes immediately found the chair where my shorts and black jumper were lying. I picked up my clothes and put them on the bed. Lorcan was still sitting on the other side of the bed, watching my every move with his black eyes.
"Turn around." I cried through my teeth, raising my eyes to his.
Lorcan smiled with half a smile and then turned his back to me. I took off his jacket as quickly as I could and slipped into my shorts and sweatshirt. I smiled broadly when I finally got my clothes back.
"It's time." Lorcan's voice reached my ears.
I didn't know when, but he was already standing at the white door. I blinked a few times at his quick movement. I could see perfectly well that the bed and the door were separated by probably five metres, but he moved as fast as if it was only two steps. Without saying anything, I followed Lorcan. Every fiber of my being wanted to get out of here and back to my house as quickly as possible. I could feel every inch of this house soaked up Lorcan's scent. I could guarantee that he lived here.
When we walked through the white door we were greeted by a huge guest room. All the furniture and carpets looked so old, as if they were antiques. The large windows gave this guest room a cosy feel. I averted my eyes, not wanting to pry too much. Finally, we walked out of the guest room into a long and wide corridor that led to the exit. Large crystal chandeliers hung somewhere above my head. Finally, my eyes saw a light at the end of the tunnel. A large wooden door was wide open. Fresh air reached my lungs and my sense of smell detected strangers nearby.
"Harold we're going to bring Amelia home." Lorcan's stern voice filled the air.
Soon my eyes adjusted to the sunlight. In front of my eyes was a small terrace where three werewolves were standing. It was Harold, Lorcan and one I hadn't seen yet. He looked quite young. He had light blonde hair and blue eyes. He stood all straight as a string and tensed up. I never thought that Lorcan would exert such a strong influence on his own kind.
"Very good, sir." Harold said in a calm voice.
Soon Harold came down the terrace steps, followed by Lorcan. I looked around the place where I was. Ahead I could see a pale yellow car parked in the car park. As far as the eye could see, there were only woods and one large meadow. I looked over my shoulder and my eyes were drawn to a huge white house which had two floors with a huge balcony. It was like a giant mansion.
"Come on, get in." Lorcan's voice reached my ears.
I turned around and I was standing in front of a bright yellow car. I quickly took my place on the back seat of the car. To my surprise and anger, Lorcan was not in the front seat. There was only one seat between us and that was annoying. I felt. The loud slamming of the door meant that Harold had taken his place on the driver's side. A soft engine noise reached my ears, which was for some reason reassuring.
Out of the corner of my eye I looked at Loran, who was sitting comfortably in the seat. He had one arm out of the open window and the other resting peacefully on his stomach. I could see the profile of his face, which looked stern and dark. I could see the golden sparks in his black eyes. His gaze was fixed somewhere far away on the road ahead.
I directed my gaze somewhere out of my window to the fast-flying trees and the bumpy road. The silence of the car was filled with some quiet song with a calm melody. After a few minutes, my muscles relaxed and my eyes closed a little.
I felt a strange sensation in my right hand and opened my eyes wide to look in that direction. My eyes saw Lorcan's hand on my shoulder. I looked away from his hand, towards his eyes with a quick and angry glance.
"Don't touch." I hissed angrily.
"We've arrived." Lorcan said, rolling his eyes.
In one swift movement, I got out of the car. Then the most delightful fruit met my eyes. It was my parents standing at the gate of the house. Without waiting, I rushed into their arms and hugged them tightly.
"Are you all right?" My mother's voice was full of excitement.
"Are you okay?" Dad's eyes looked at me from head to toe.
"I'm fine, I'm fine." I hugged them both tighter.
Then the atmosphere instantly became depressing and unpleasant. I saw Mum and Dad looking behind me. I turned around and Lorcan was standing in front of me. He was the same as always, with his head held high and his face unreadable.
"Seven days, Amelia." Lorcan said slowly.
"I know." I stared, squinting my eyes.
I don't know why, but I could feel a huge tension in the air. The air had become so oppressive and thick. Then everything instantly disappeared and Lorcan's loud laughter reached my ears. I could feel his eyes on my forehead. Lorcan never acted like that. He had always been serious, and now he was laughing. I felt really uncomfortable.
"Be safe, Amelia." Lorcan said in a calm tone.
"Why?" I said in a calm tone.
" It's my duty." Lorcan smiled with half a smile.
The next thing I saw was him getting into the front passenger seat and closing the door. There is a quiet engine roar and the car moves out of the way.
"What happened to you?" Mum said, hugging me on the shoulder.
" I don't know, I just felt weak." I said in a calm voice.
" We'll have to see the doctors." Dad said as he walked by.
" Lilly came by yesterday and said Lorcan took you." said Mum in a shaky voice.
" We didn't know what to expect." Dad grinned.
" I'm safe and sound. Let's go get something to eat." I said as I opened the door to the house.
" Lilly said Lorcan promised to take care of you." Mum opened the fridge.
"I'm glad he gave you a hug." Dad smiled.
"Scrambled eggs and bacon for breakfast?" Mum asked as she closed the fridge.
" Perfect." I smiled from ear to ear.
I poured myself a glass of water and sat down at the table. Dad was sitting in the chair to my right, reading the newspaper. He is a middle-aged man with hair that is starting to grey a little. His eyes were dark brown and his short nose was held up by round glasses. Dad was a well-known doctor who had cured many werewolves of their injuries. That's one of the reasons why we live a little better than others.
"Where did you wake up?" Mum asked as she put the plate in front of me.
"It was probably Lorcan's house." I shrugged and picked up my fork.
"What is it?" Dad said, looking up from the newspaper.
" Big and ancient." I threw a piece of egg with the fork.
" I can see it's very pretty in there." Mum sat down at the table.
" It's a huge mansion somewhere in the woods." I shrugged and put the casserole in my mouth.
"I thought Alpha Lorcan lived in the city." Mum furrowed her brow.
" I guess you don't have to live in the city to visit it." Dad wrinkled his forehead.
"Well, yeah, they're moon cursed. The closer to nature, the better for them." said Mum when she had finished chewing her food.
I was glad that my relatives weren't the ones who blindly hate werewolves. They understood them perfectly well, but there were still some people who were driven by blind anger towards werewolves. I have heard that one of the villagers has even attempted to kill an Alpha Lorcan. He signed his own death warrant just by uttering those words.
"Why are you not at work?" I looked up from the food at my parents who were having a quiet lunch.
"We were told you were coming back we had to make sure you were okay, so we had to cancel work." Dad said calmly.
"Of course we'll be back in the afternoon." Mum sighed softly.
I knew exactly how much Mum disliked her job. She worked in the village bar where all kinds of people gathered. You could meet people from the cities, you could meet people from this village, or of course werewolves. My mother always wanted to be an artist. The walls of our house are hung with her beautiful handmade paintings.
I finished my soup and put the dishes in the sink. I turned on my heel to go straight through the kitchen door. Of course I was stopped by Dad's shouting which meant that the conversation between all of us here was not over. I turned on my heel instantly and went back to the table. I raised my blue eyes to Dad and waited for Mum to finish eating.
"Did you have something important to say?" Mom put the dishes in the sink.
"I wanted to talk to Amelia." Dad turned in my direction.
"What's so important?" I said with a smile.
" I wanted to give you this." Dad pulled an envelope out of his pocket and put it down.
"What's this?" I furrowed my eyebrows and turned my eyes towards the envelope.
" It should make life a little easier for you over there to begin with," Dad smiled half a smile.
I knew perfectly well that the envelope contained Dad and Mum's hard-earned money. I looked at it with tear-filled eyes that came out of nowhere. I could not take the last of my parents' money from them. My heart just didn't approve and didn't allow it at all.
"Dad, I can't, knowing how hard you and Mum are working and trying.
"It's okay Amelia." Mum's voice cut me off.
"It's not okay." I sighed slowly.
"Don't worry about us, worry about yourself, okay?" Dad said, putting his hand on my shoulder.
I knew very well that Dad was the one who would always pull his family out of the pit. Whether it was debt, deprivation, lack of food or anything else. He always finds a way to make things right and to stand up to everything. I believed his words. I knew that he would take care of my mother no matter what.
"OK." I nodded my head and took the envelope from the table.
" One more thing." Mum said, looking at me.
"What?" I said, smiling.
"Perhaps Alpha Lorcan mentioned what kind of work you will be doing?" Mum was curious.
" I'm sorry, but no." I stood up from my chair and turned towards the door.
"I'll see you tonight, honey." Mum said before I stepped over the threshold.
"Bye mom." I smiled widely.
I ran up the stairs to my room with a quick step. Finally, hot drops of water ran down my naked body, chilling me. I guess there is nothing better than a hot shower after a long journey. With wet hair and fresh-smelling clothes, I stood in my room in front of a small mirror. I could feel my she-wolf's lasciviousness, as if she were skipping through a giant meadow catching butterflies. I guarantee there is nothing better than a clean coat. Soon a pebble hit the window, and then again and again. I got out of bed and walked quickly to the window. I opened it and held out my hand to Lilly.
"How are you?" Lilly looked at me from head to toe.
"I'm fine, tell me what happened?" I sat down on the bed and sat up, but my feet touched the ground.
"You lost your mind. I don't know what happened to you. Your face became whiter and whiter." Lilly lay down next to me.
"How did Lorcan find me?" I said, wrinkling my forehead.
"When you fainted, I started calling for help. We were a long way from the main road so probably nobody heard. Then a few metres away there were heavy footsteps. Believe me, I was scared as hell to see a werewolf in front of me. " Lilly recounted the details of yesterday's incident.
"How did you know it was Lorcan?" I said, furrowing my brow.
" I didn't know, he wasn't aggressive. He just lay down on the side of the road and laid his head gently on your chest for a few minutes." Lilly smiled.
"And then what happened?" I said, turning towards Lilly.
"I asked him to save you. There's no way I would have called for help, and the veins can't leave you." Lilly sighed sadly.
"I'm alive and well because of you." I said, hugging Lilly.
" Partly thanks to Lorcan." Lilly smiled.
" Can we not mention him?" I asked, furrowing my brow.
"Come on, tell me, how is it outside all the forests and villages?" Lilly wanted an answer.
"I don't know." I turned my eyes back to the ceiling.
"Don't lie, where did you wake up?" Lilly kept asking.
" Okay there was a huge double bed and a huge bedroom. The living room was as old as they say in the books. With lots of ornaments, massive beautiful furniture, beautiful carpets and an interior that gave you lots of space." I have told you the details of this morning at Visito Lorcan's house.
"It's all enough, and I'm jealous." Lilly tapped me on the shoulder.
"You asked for it." I stuck my tongue out at Lilly.
" I thought you'd be in a worse mood." Lilly smiled.
" Strange, but no." I smiled half a smile..
" Well we have seven days left right?" Lilly lay on her side.
"What are we going to do today?" I followed Lilly's lead and looked at her.
"First I'd like a good night's sleep, and in the evening we can meet at the same place as always." I smiled half a smile.
"'Sure, get some rest sweetheart, I'll see you tonight.'" Lilly stood up from the bed and headed towards the window.
"Maybe use the door, my parents should be out for work." I pointed my finger at the door.
Lilly instantly changed her direction towards the door. Finally when the door knocked I felt relieved. This time I made myself a little more comfortable in bed. Finally the warmth enveloped my shoulders and my body warmed up. My eyelashes closed under my eyes, immersing me in sleep.
The loud sound of the doorbell made me open my eyes wide and almost fall out of bed. I looked around the room, where it was slowly getting darker. I strained my ears to listen to every sound in the house, but my parents were not back yet. I crawled out of bed and quickly walked up the stairs to the first floor. I opened the front door wide and there was nothing outside. I immediately lowered my eyes to the ground and, to my surprise, saw a white box tied with a red ribbon. I bent down and took the box in my hands, and I saw a card next to the ribbon. It said, in a familiar handwriting, "I hope you are feeling better, Loran." In one easy motion, I tugged on the delicate red ribbon and it fell to the ground, fluttering in the air. Then, with a cautious movement, I opened the box and saw inside.
