Invisible

The sun was shining and the war cries raged on in the distance, every normal kid my age would be spending their time playing soccer or some of those stupid online games ( they aren’t even real). Not me! I’m stuck in my grandma’s dusty old attic trying to block out the squabbling of four perfectly mature adults. My mum and her brothers never really got along, mum was the only girl and the eldest that pretty much made her an enemy to my uncles Dan, Steve and Fred. Ever since grandma’s death two weeks ago their usual squabbling has turned into a more violent sort of debate. I sighed as I got up walked to the witches case, when grandma was alive I used to come over here every day and she taught me new tricks every day, it was fun while it lasted. I picked up the backpack with all the cool tricks and starting climbing back down to the kitchen where there was chocolate cake, I grabbed a slice and went into the garden where I found a nice grassy spot in the shade and started reading some of the Nancy drew books lying about. “Hey, Emma come play tennis or badminton with us!” Ted my eldest cousin shouted from the court on the other side of the garden, “That’s too hard for her! Why not a game of lawn ball?” Toby my nerdy cousin debated, “What about just letting her read?” Daniel (Danni) my timid and manipulative cousin replied, oh he’s just adorable. My whole family is athletic, everyone except me. Mums an international gymnast, dad’s a footballer, uncle Dan, Steve and Fred are wrestlers, 13-year-old Ted is a soccer player, 11-year-old Toby is a jockey even 9-year-old Danni is a basketballer and me, well I Emma Silverwhisp am a nerd, being a 15-year-old computer whiz, level one hacker and child prodigy, I have no time for sports and if I do it will probably be eSPORTS and I’m not talking about those cringe online games either! Like my mum I get bullied a lot especially by my cousins for being the only girl and the eldest, unlike my mum I also get bullied for graduating university with so many degrees as well as my lack of enthusiasm in sports! But that doesn’t hold me back! I’ve got my own house because in grandmas will she left her mansion, her cottage and all her twenty four cars to me as well as the pass to all secret headquarters of LOL a top secret organisation that uses knowledge as the key to the future!
