Mandy didn't allow herself to bask in Bruno's comfort for long, regaining her composure within minutes. She had already witnessed the consequences of trusting a man, thanks to Robin and her mother. She absolutely refused to repeat that mistake. Moreover, Bruno wouldn't help her forever; his interest in her body would last a few years at most.
"Thanks, I'll just wait for the lawyer Uncle Ryan arranges," Mandy abruptly changed the subject. "Have you gotten the details of the auction? What's the ring's starting price?" She needed to start preparing the money.
Bruno also caught the underlying meaning in her words: "Not quite sure, but it doesn't matter. We have money."
