Standing in the balcony of a farmhouse, a girl in her twenties was gawking at the moon.
Her face forced a smile, she imagined how her life would have been if she was still with her father and sister. It reminded her that her father had exiled her from the pack.
She was reminded that her sister had turned everyone against her, she was the one that caused her all the pain she had received. She wanted to get their father’s attention, she also wanted to be the one that Kyle weds. She had always loved Kyle but in the end Kyle always chose her.
Alissa Pitch made one mistake, and that mistake led to her downfall. Not even her pleading could save her. The memories of her father ordering the pack to throw her out of the pack flashed through her mind again.
She could hold back the streams of tears, she was in pain and there was no one there to comfort her at the moment. She looked at the evening sky.
She sniffed away her sadness, and wiped the tears from her tender face. Her nose flared, and sighed. “Father, I miss you.”
She remembered when she would get into trouble and Lucio would always come to save her from her father. Lucio was always there to save her.
“Lucio.” She said as the wind blew her brown hair, she traced her melon shaped belly, she looked down at growing belly.
Yes, she had life growing in her. She was reminded everyday that she had been given a chance to bring forth life into the world. Some women didn’t have the chance or opportunity, but she had the chance to give birth to triplets.
She had wanted to end her misery, when she was exiled she had no place to go, no one to run to. She decided to end her life, she had used a sharp rock, she closed her eyes and was about to stab it into her chest so she could stop feeling the pain.
Someone stopped her, she looked back and saw Lucio standing behind her. “Lucio?” She immediately hugged the beta tight as she cried, he was always there whenever she needed him and had always saved her from troubles that could literally hurt her.
“Alissa, there there, don’t worry as long as I'm here no one would hurt you anymore. I’m sorry I couldn’t do anything to stop your father, I was under the Alpha’s command.” He said as he took the stone from Alissa’s hand.
He took her and the both of them began to walk somewhere, “I will take you to some people, the two of them are good hearted souls. They are the last survivors of the Nightghale pack. The two of them would take care of you till you give birth.” Lucio added.
Lucio was Alissa’s uncle, he was the late Luna's older brother and only brother. He always cared deeply for his late sister’s children and promised his life to make sure that no harm befalls them.
Lucio led Alissa through the forest where they met an elderly couple waiting for them. Lucio introduced them as Malia and Jared, the two of them were the last survivors of a ghastly pack war.
They took Alissa in and for the past eight months they have been taking care of Alissa. Alissa smiled when she remembered the times when Lucio would sneak in to play princess with her and Ariel.
She was still taken aback, she didn’t notice Malia coming out of the balcony with a coat. “My dear, it’s cold this evening. Please always carry your coat with you.” Malia covered her with the coat, she wasn’t Alissa’s mother but the way she cared for.
Alissa smiled as she covered herself properly with the coat and smiled, “Thank you, Malia. I will forever remain grateful for everything that you have done for me.” Alissa smiled as she looked at the elderly woman.
“Nonsense, you are practically my daughter. So why would I bother? Besides it’s fun having someone to talk, someone that reminds me of the good old days.” Malia said smiling graciously, she looked at Alissa.
“Now dear, dinner’s ready please come inside whenever you want and make sure that you eat up.” Malia said as she entered the house.
Alissa looked at the sky before getting up to head inside, she was walking towards the table to have dinner with the two. She walked towards the table and suddenly started having weird pains in her belly.
She walked to the table and sat down, the pains kept increasing she couldn’t tell what was happening, Malia noticed and she held her hands, “Alissa dear are you ok?” Malia asked as she held Alissa’s hands trying to find out what was going on with her.
Alissa felt something rush through her, she looked down and it turned out that her water broke, “Malia, it’s happening! The babies are coming!!” Alissa said, shaking.
Malia was bewildered for a moment but she had to keep her cool, in order to make sure she doesn’t complicate issues with Alissa. “Oh dear we have to get to the clinic but that would take time and you’re already in labour.” Malia said as she rushed to Alissa’s side.
Contractions had already started kicking in, Alissa was in pain. It was her first time experiencing that sort of pain. She was breathing heavily and the pain kept coming.
Jared had already checked the car but there wasn’t enough time fo Alissa to be rushed to the clinic, she would deliver the child inside the car.
“The car has some tuning issues, if we were to take it we wouldn’t get there on time.” Jared said as he rushed in where Malia was cooling Alissa down with a fan.
Malia has no choice but to have the children delivered at home, she was her pack’s doctor. And she had such experiences but it had been a long time ago. She feared the worse for Alissa one mistake could cost her life.
“Alissa dear, I need you to keep calm. We are going to proceed. I will help you to give birth here!” Malia laid Alissa down properly, setting everything to help her with the delivery.
Malia knew that it was going to be hard, since it was Alissa’s first time it wouldn’t be all easy for any of them. “Okay Alissa dear, push along with the contractions! Breathe easily!” Malia said as she waited for Alissa to push along with the contractions.
Alissa pushed along with the contractions as Malia had instructed, she felt the pain beginning to fade. She could hear the cries of her new born baby, “Alissa dear, you are doing great now, two more to go and you’re good to go!” Malia said encouraging Alissa to keep pushing.
Alissa gave it her last push, she felt relieved and tired of all the pushing and all the strain she went through. Malia took the newborns and went to clean them up.
Alissa was still recovering from all the pain she had just experienced a few minutes ago, she was happy that she had given birth to the babies safely and there weren’t any complications.
Malia brought the twins to their mother so she could see her newborn children, Alissa held the two of them close to her chest, tears falling from her eyes as she looked at them. They were so little and fragile, they were adorable.
Alissa remembered when her father had ordered her to terminate the pregnancy and she refused saying that the father might be out in the pack waiting for the right moment to come.
She was glad that she didn’t follow her father’s orders and removed the pregnancy, she wouldn’t have had the chance to see the two most adorable things that she had seen in her entire life.
“Yes Lucio, she is still resting. I will give her the phone now.” Malia came in holding a cell phone in her hands. She handed it over to Alissa and smiled.
“Hello uncle Lucio.” Alissa took the phone, she held it to her ears and waited for Lucio to speak on the other end of the line.
“Hello Alissa! Congratulations dear, words can’t explain how happy I am for you. I wish I could be there when you were giving birth but I couldn’t make it.” Lucio said on the other end.
“I know uncle, I know if there was a way for you to be here with me you would have come.” Alissa said as she smiled a bit, her smile quickly disappeared. “How is he?” She added as she looked at her babies sleeping gracefully.
“He’s fine Alissa, though he won’t say it he misses you Alissa. But I want you to promise me something Alissa.” Lucio said as he paused for a reply from Alissa.
“What is it uncle?” Alissa asked, she wasn’t sure what her uncle wanted her to promise. “Uncle, what is it that you want me to promise?”
“Alissa, I want you to promise me that you will make yourself happy alongside your children.” Lucio’s voice sounded like he was about to tear up, “Promise me that you won’t ever let anyone make you feel bad about yourself, because you’re not living just for yourself now.”
“I promise uncle Lucio, I won’t let anyone hurt me or make me feel bad.” Alissa said with her face lighting up, “And just you wait uncle I will make you proud, I will make my father and everyone in the pack proud.” She added, her face gleaming with joy.
“Good to hear that, I have to go now. I’ll send some gifts and things for you and the little ones. Bye Alissa, take care of yourself.” Lucio said before the line went cold.
Alissa dropped the phone on the table, she looked at her little kids. She had received a new reason to keep on living, “Kyle and Lily!” She said out loud with a smile on her face.
“I think those are beautiful names, and it suits them well.” Malia said as she handed Alissa some food. “I know they will grow to be strong and beautiful.”
Alissa nodded and smiled, she took the tray that Malia had brought, “Thanks Malia.” She smiled, the elderly woman ruffled her hair and left to get herself cleaned up.
Alissa turned her attention to her babies, “The both of you make me whole, with the two of you I will be stronger!” Alissa said, looking at her babies.
