Father Romero

In the Beginning, I was a normal young man. I lived with my mother and three sisters in Madrid. We were a lower class family making ends meet by selling bread and coffee at our grandmother's local shop. My mother was also a seamstress. She always wore the most amazing dresses I had ever seen as a child. My family was normal but just like everyone in this world, we had a secret we hid from others. I could say we had the means and ability to live higher than our status but it would cause us to be a target and we would cause more trouble for our kind. My mother and all the woman in her family were part of a very powerful witch coven. My mother was known as the "poderosa bruixa de sang." The powerful blood witch. Our family was sought after when it came to anything witchcraft. New witches wanting to learn the craft or covens needing help with a powerful spell or anything of that sort. But I could say other than that everything else was normal in my life. I was groomed to become the most powerful witch in our region. I would one day hold every power given to our family through generations. I was to lead our kind to a revolution against others out there who thought of us as the weakest of this world. We would show the world why they should fear witches and how powerful we could truly be. I didn't really have a choice so whether I can remember believe in this cause or not was irrelevant. I was a good son and I wanted to make my family proud but then I met Valencia. She was very beautiful and I was captivated by her immediately upon looking at her blue eyes. She had short jet black hair and her skin was as pale as snow. She smiled at me slightly but then quickly ran away. I like a fool ran after her. Apparently, she was owned by a coven of vampires. She was this month's source of food and I had taken them from her by helping her escape. I kept her in a room above my grandmother's shop. I healed her wounds and helped her cleanse herself from the vampire venom. I know I had fallen in love with her instantly but spending so much time with her had made me want her even more. She was timid but began to tell me about her family and how they were killed by vampires and she was taken two years ago. I am surprised she lived so long but she was very beautiful, perhaps they wanted to turn her but I knew I would never let that happen. My mother and grandmother had found her after three months of me hiding her. They told me to get rid of her and that I should not trust her but I couldn't abandon her. I warned my mother time and time again to leave us be. My mother one night tried to poison Valencia. I caught her and quickly left home. We spent years living on our own. My mother wanted me to return so I could perform the ritual and absorb my family's powers. I didn't want that life anymore. I wanted to live quietly with Valencia and someday marry her. I didn't know at the time that she preferred the latter. One night, we were attacked by vampires. At the time, I thought it was a coincidence but she had planned the attack so I would be scared to go back home and get the powers that would make me strong enough to kill any enemy that came our way again. I did go home but I went home with the intention of getting a cloaking potion so no supernatural creature could find us. When Valencia found out what I was planning she staged another attack, this time her old friends found out and thought to take back what was once theirs and make me pay for what I had tried to take from them. All three of my sisters died that night. My mother and the rest of my coven managed to escape but I knew this was the beginning of the end. I was banished and shunned by the coven and my family. I really wished I had left it all be after that but I still loved her and so I wanted to look for her. I was right the coven wanted to turn her and so they did. I killed every last one of those vampires and took her with me. I tried to help her control her hunger but one night she took more than I could give and I was turned into the monster I am today. We both tried to control our hunger for some time but threats around us caused us to become savage monsters. The taste of blood was always sweet at the first drop. Then it turned bitter but it was still enriched with everything I needed and wanted. My family soon found out about my transformation into an undead and they came for us several times. I would take Valencia far away and wait until they found us again. She wanted to fight but they were still my family and I had put them through enough. Valencia and I continued to move around Europe trying to find a stable life but for a vampire, it was very hard. It took my coven three years but they finally found us. My mother looked me straight in the eyes and cast her spell to try and kill me. Valencia tried to attack her but I somehow managed to use some powers I still had in me and stopped her. She quickly ran away and it took me years to find her again. I used the little powers I had to cast the spell and absorb the powers I was supposed to all those years ago. I was now more powerful than anyone could ever imagine but that just put a bigger target on my back. There were a few rumblings around town so I left. I hid until I heard the news of Valencia and what she was doing.
