Empire in motion

Episode 7 – “Empire in Motion” The city pulsed with life as dawn broke, skyscrapers glittering under the rising sun. While most of the world still stretched awake, Li Xue was already at her desk, eyes sharp, fingers moving quickly over contracts and emails. The clock read 5:47 AM. Coffee steamed beside her, untouched for the moment. This time, she didn’t need it to stay awake—her ambition was enough. No more tears. No more distractions. This is who I am now. At the weekly executive meeting, whispers hushed as she entered the room. Her fitted black suit, her steady gaze, the quiet authority in her steps—it was enough to command the room before she even spoke. “Good morning,” she began, voice crisp. “Let’s get straight to the numbers. Last quarter, our revenue increased by 23%. That’s not enough.” Mr. Zhao frowned. “Not enough? That’s the best growth in five years.” “Five years of mediocrity,” Li Xue countered, her tone like steel. She projected a chart onto the screen, bold red lines climbing upward. “I’m not here to repeat history. I’m here to write it. My target is 50% by next year—and here’s how we’ll get there.” Her plan unfolded in slides: international branches, strategic partnerships, tech integration. Each detail was precise, daring, flawless. When the executives fell silent, she leaned forward, eyes gleaming. “If that scares you, resign today. But if you’re ready to build an empire, follow me.” The silence cracked into reluctant applause. Respect filled their eyes. The Ice Flame was no longer a rumor—she was real. By afternoon, she was juggling three calls, signing papers with one hand, and checking digital reports with the other. Assistants rushed in and out, carrying stacks of contracts. “Ms. Li, the Korean investors want a personal meeting—tomorrow.” “Put them at 7 AM. Back-to-back with the European call.” “And the charity gala?” “Send my donation. I don’t have time for red carpets.” Her office buzzed like a war room. Yet, amid the chaos, Li Xue’s movements were smooth, controlled, relentless. That evening, Hui Ying stormed into her office with a bag of food. “Xue, you’re going to kill yourself if you don’t eat.” Li Xue didn’t look up from her laptop. “I’ll eat later.” “No,” Hui Ying said firmly, shutting the laptop with a dramatic snap. “You’re eating now. Or I’ll feed you like a child.” Li Xue sighed, but her lips curved into a smile. “You’re impossible.” “Impossible is working twenty hours a day and still looking like you walked out of a magazine,” Hui Ying shot back, setting down dumplings. For the first time, Li Xue laughed—an easy, light laugh. “Maybe I really don’t need him anymore,” she murmured quietly, almost to herself. Hui Ying froze, then smiled knowingly. “Exactly. You never did.” Weeks blurred into months. News articles began to flood the business world. “Li Xue Expands into Global Markets.” “The Ice Flame’s Empire: How One Woman is Redefining Power.” She didn’t notice when the nights stopped being about heartbreak. She didn’t notice when her coffee breaks no longer came with memories of Lei Feng. She didn’t even notice the moment she had truly moved on. All she knew was that her empire was rising—and she was rising with it.
