Dreams Together
Episode 1 – “Dreams Together”
Li Xue woke to the soft morning sunlight filtering through the sheer curtains of her apartment. The scent of jasmine from the balcony drifted in, mingling with the faint aroma of freshly brewed tea. She smiled, her heart fluttering at the thought of today—today, she would see him.
Lei Feng.
Even the name felt like poetry on her lips. He was everything she had ever dreamed of: kind, passionate, patient. Her life had always been orderly, ambitious, and disciplined—but with him, it felt alive in a way no spreadsheet or boardroom could replicate.
She adjusted the ribbon on her silk blouse and glanced at the tiny pendant on her neck, a gift from him last month. “To remember that no matter where we are, we carry each other.” The words had made her laugh and tear up all at once.
A soft knock at the door pulled her from her thoughts.
“Xue?” His voice—deep, calm, familiar—sent a shiver of delight down her spine.
“I’m here,” she called, smiling before opening the door.
Lei Feng stood there, tall and effortless, his black coat draped over one arm. His eyes met hers, warm and full of unspoken words. “Morning,” he said, handing her a small bouquet of lilies.
“For me?” she whispered, taking the flowers, her fingers brushing his.
“For always,” he said, a teasing glint in his eyes.
They sat across from each other at the tiny kitchen table, sharing breakfast in a comfortable silence. Sometimes, no words were needed—they just existed together, each smile and glance saying everything.
Later, walking hand in hand through the quiet streets of the city, Li Xue felt a thrill in her chest. This was the life she had imagined: small, cozy, intimate, filled with laughter, love, and whispered dreams.
“I’ve been thinking,” he said suddenly, eyes twinkling. “Once we’re married… maybe a small home by the river? Just you, me, and our little world?”
Li Xue squeezed his hand, warmth spreading through her like sunlight. “I’d love that,” she murmured. “A place just for us. No distractions, no chaos… just you and me.”
He smiled, brushing a strand of hair from her face. “It’ll be ours. I promise.”
In that moment, with the city waking around them and his hand warm in hers, Li Xue felt invincible. Love had a way of making her feel stronger, braver, and yet… tenderly soft in the places no one else had touched.
She didn’t know that the world could change in a heartbeat. She didn’t know that the same dreams she held close today could shatter tomorrow.
For now, though, there was only him. Only them. And in that perfect, fleeting moment, Li Xue allowed herself to believe in forever.
