Episode 13 – “Conditions and First Kiss”
The night air was crisp, city lights twinkling like scattered stars. Li Xue and Hao Ran strolled slowly down a quiet street, far from the bustle of traffic and neon. The conversation had shifted—first playful, then teasing, now deeper.
Hao Ran glanced at her, curiosity sparkling in his eyes. “So… all these years building an empire, completely alone… do you ever think about… having someone by your side?”
Li Xue’s lips pressed into a straight line. She didn’t glance at him. “Side? Maybe. But anyone who wants that side… has to follow my rules.”
He raised an eyebrow, intrigued. “Oh? And what rules are those, Miss Li Xue?”
She stopped walking, turning to face him fully. Hands in pockets, heels clicking on the pavement, her gaze unwavering.
“Listen carefully,” she said, voice steady, leaving no room for argument:
1. No kids.
2. I work the way I want—hours, decisions, travel—none can hamper my freedom.
3. My life, my rules. Any partner must accept that without question.
Hao Ran studied her, eyes soft but unwavering. A slow smile spread across his face. “Bold,” he said. “I like that. Clear boundaries. No illusions. No compromises on what matters to you.”
Li Xue crossed her arms, unimpressed by the compliment. “It’s not about liking me, it’s about surviving me.”
He stepped closer, just enough that the air between them warmed. “Survive you? Miss Li… I’ve admired you from afar since high school. I think I can manage a little… surviving.”
She let out a soft, incredulous laugh. “You think you can survive me?”
“Yes,” he replied confidently, eyes never leaving hers. “I think I’d rather learn than give up.”
Li Xue felt a flicker in her chest—a mixture of disbelief and something else she hadn’t felt in years: trust, maybe even longing.
For a moment, silence stretched between them. The city around them seemed to fade, leaving only the hum of distant lights.
Hao Ran leaned in slightly, his breath warm, steady. “You’ve built an empire, Li Xue… but even empires deserve moments of… surrender.”
Her breath hitched slightly. The words, the nearness, the bold confidence—it all broke through the icy wall she had built for six years.
Before she could pull back, he closed the distance. Soft lips pressed against hers—a kiss both gentle and fierce, carrying years of unspoken feelings, courage, and new beginnings.
Li Xue’s eyes fluttered open, meeting his gaze. The kiss lingered, a promise, a spark, a hint of the warmth that might just… change everything.
