Chapter 8

1425 Words
Aunt Alice and Mrs. Brady had asked me to come over after I had gotten out of work. I was not sure what they both wanted. But it was odd both ladies had called me while I was at work. Requesting that I go to Mrs. Brady's house right after I got off work. I was so curious to know what was going on. I knew Greg was working with Bobby and Peter today. So, he would not be home. Maybe I would get to see him when he got off work. He had to come home sometime. We did not have a date until Friday night. I had to wait all week long for some time alone with Greg. I could hardly wait for this week to be over with. So, we could go on our date for Friday. I was super happy with the way things were going with Greg. He called me every night to talk to me even if I did not get a chance to run into him. And spend time with him. Sometimes he sends me a little flower arrangement. From the local flower shop. I really loved that he was thinking of me. He did not have to spoil me. I just loved knowing he missed me as much as I was missing him during this weekday. After I was off work I head over to the Brady's house. I pull my car into my driveway. I change clothing when I get home. I wanted to look decent in case I happened to run into Greg when he got off of work. I was hoping to see him. Even for a moment. Every moment with Greg was a special one. I dress and freshen my make up before heading over to the Brady's. I notice aunt Alice car was parked in the driveway. I reach out and ring the doorbell. ♡♪♬♪♡ "Hi" Marcia greets me. "come on in. We have been waiting for you" she tells me as she drags me inside. "What on earth is going on?" I ask curiously. "Mom and Alice are making their annual strawberry jam for the big contest in this years fair in town. They want us to taste test the jam. Dad used to each year. But dad is not here. They want you to taste the jam" laughs Marcia. "Oh no I do not want to be in the middle. Maybe I better go" I warn her as I turn to leave. She stops me. "Come with me" she laughs. We head into the kitchen. "Wonderful! Daisy is here!" says aunt Alice. "Daisy we want you to do something for us if you would please" begs Mrs. Brady. I make a face. "I know. Test some jam?" I laugh. "Marcia you promised not to tell" sighs Mrs. Brady. "but now that you are here would you test it?" she asks me. "Sure" I agree with a smile. "How about on some toast? We baked home made bread" offers aunt Alice. "Really? Oh that would be outta sight" I say happily. ♡♪♬♪♡ We slice up the bread. Then I help Marica set up the table. For the big taste test off. I hoped I would love both and not have to be picky. Aunt Alice used to give us jams all the time. I was sure to love hers though. I hated not to help Mrs. Brady. How could I pick one jam? Mr. Brady had a hard job here. He had big shoes to fill. "Have a seat. Let the testing begin" says a cheery Mrs. Brady. I sigh as I smile over at Marica. We spread jam one on the bread. Then take a bite into the warm jelly. It was oozing with sugary goodness with the fluffy warm bread. Nothing beat the fresh baked bread. Wow was it yummy after a hard days work. A good snack for me! "So how is it?" asks Mrs. Brady. "Tangy. Sweet. I loved it so far. It hit the spot with the bread" I tell her. She smiles. "Great. Now try jam two" she orders. She helps get another piece of bread ready. The next piece was a little sweeter then the other. But it had a hint of real sliced strawberries in it. I loved fresh berries. So good. I moan softly as I munch on the bread. This was going to be hard to pick. "What did you think?" asks Alice. "Wow are there real berries in this jam?" asks Marcia. "Yes" says Alice. "I believe there is" "Outta sight" sighs Marcia. "Now try both. One at a time one more time" orders Mrs. Brady. "Alright" I say. We do as we are asked. "So who will win? One or two?" asks Mrs. Brady. "Who is one who is two?" I ask. "No no that is not how it works around here. Tell us one or two" warns aunt Alice. We laugh. "I had to try" I giggle. "What do you say ladies?" asks Mrs. Brady. "Mr. Brady always had a hard time picking to" she laughs. "Alright I must say number two is my favorite" I announce. "Yes!" laughs Mrs. Brady. "Seriously?" sighs aunt Alice. "I agree the fresh berries are a big hit for me to" agrees Marica. "I think I will win this year" laughs Mrs. Brady. Aunt Alice looked bummed . She sighs. She tries Mrs. Brady's batch. "It is good" she agrees. Mrs. Brady beams. "Thanks ladies" she happily answers. ♡♪♬♪♡ We are all munching on our snack. Talking about the up coming fair that was coming to town. I wondered if Greg was going to take me to the fair as his date. That would be so romantic going to the fair. Maybe he would win me a stuffed animal to take home. Ride the ferries wheel and look at the stars in the sky. Listen to a live band play. It was going to be great. "How about you come with us to the fair?" asks Marica. "I would love to come" I agree. "Great" she answers with a smile. "it is a family tradition. We all always go" "I bet it is fun" I answer. She nods. "It really is" she agrees. Greg comes in with Bobby and Pete. He has a happy smile on his face when he spots me. I could not help but smile back at him. I loved seeing that handsome face. I was going to get to see him. My heart soars with joy inside. "Hi" he greets me. "how was work for you?" he asks me. I get up out of my chair. He takes me away from everyone to chat. In some den area. ♡♪♬♪♡ "I had a good day. But it is better with you" I answer him. "I was hoping to run into you today" he admits. "Everyone asked me to the fair are you going to go?" I ask him. He nods. "I was planning on asking you for a date to go" he answers. "leave it to my sister to ruin that" he sighs. "I am flattered she asked me to take part with you guys. I can't wait to be your date. It will be so romantic" I sigh. "Dates to the fair can be very romantic. I look forward to going with you" he says smiling at me. He kisses me. "Daisy I love you" "I love you to Greg" I answer him. He holds me close. "Want to stay for dinner? Since you are already here?" he offers. "Sure, why not" I agree. "Mom made stew for tonight there will be enough for everyone" he says to me. "Great my day is looking up now" I giggle. "Oh, why is that?" he asks me. "Because I get to see you and have you for my dinner date" I tell him. "Good answer" he says as he kisses me. I feel his smile on my lips. "Greg are you in your father's den?" Mrs. Brady calls out. He groans. "No privacy" he sighs. "Yes mother" he answers. "I am with Daisy" he tells her. "give us a moment, will you? I asked Daisy to join us for dinner" he tells her. "Wonderful I was going to ask" says Mrs. Brady before she leaves there. "I need to find my own place soon. So, we can have privacy" he grumbles. I touch his cheek. "I love it here. But I understand. We can always go to my place to" I remind him. I kiss him. "I wish I had more time for you each day. I promise once things slow down, I will make time for you" he offers. "You are so sweet. I would love that Greg" I add. We kiss. "I love you Daisy. I would do anything for you" he vows. "I would for you. I love you Greg Brady" I promise back. I meant every word of what I said to. •♡•♡•♡•♡•♡•♡•♡•♡•♡•♡•♡•
