I was up early. And in a very good mood. I was going to meet someone special. I had a feeling about it. I loved being in this town. I had moved here to this town to look after my grandma for my great aunt Alice.
I ended up not needing to when Alice finally married Sam. I moved into the house where she used to live in. When she worked for the Brady Bunch family.
I felt just awful when I met Mrs. Brady at aunt Alice church one Sunday. She seemed so alone and sad. She told me she lost her husband over a year ago. Aunt Alice introduced us.
And I grew to be very close with Mrs. Brady. I always had been an only child. And I wished for a big family. So, I enjoyed hearing all the great stories about family trips. And her kids.

Mrs. Brady was super excited when Greg her oldest son planned on moving back home. To take over his father's company before it would be sold off. I met Bobby once.
He was married and younger than I was. Newly married. I know aunt Alice and Mrs. Brady were hoping to make a love match with Greg and me. But all I wanted to do was to make a groovy new friend.
I was so happy Greg was in town. I waited a day to trot over there so he and Mrs. Brady would get settled in with one another.
But now I was heading over today with aunt Alice. To meet Greg and have a luncheon this afternoon. I hum to myself. And I make breakfast. I wondered what Greg was like. What he was really like?
Was he everything his mother claimed for him to be?
Tall, dark, handsome?
Sweet and shy?
Talented?
Charming?
I bet a lot of girls in this town would be thrilled to have Greg back home again. I hoped to meet the girls when they visited this Christmas. If I did not travel back to see my own family like last summer out in Michigan.
I ate my grapefruit and my toast. I then head upstairs to get ready for my day. I take a long hot shower. Then wash my hair good. And when I get out, I dry off and wrap a towel around me. Towel dry my curly sandy blond hair.
I head into my room wearing nothing but my towel. I to go to look through my clothing for the perfect outfit to meet Greg in. I lay the dress out on the bed. Two of them. Then muddle over what I should wear. I wanted everything to go perfect with our meeting.
For aunt Alice and Mrs. Brady of course.

I hear whistling outside my window. I gasp as I glance outside my window. I spy someone. Greg was out there taking the trash out for his mother. I smile. He had yet to turn around. I did not get a good look at him. Darn. He heads back inside and not turning around. Oh well.
I sigh. I begin to fidget and get my bra and underwear on. I turn around to go grab my dress from the bed. I glance across the window. I find two brown eyes looking right into mine.
I gasp. Greg. I hear him chuckle as I now gasp with horror. I run to the window. I pull down the blinds so he can't see another thing.
"Thanks, Bobby, for taking out the trash" I hear Mrs. Brady say.
Oh, so that was Bobby.
Not Greg.
"I got it mom, Bobby was busy!" I hear him say.
"Thanks Greg!" answers Mrs. Brady.
I groan. I feel my cheeks heat up. He saw a little too much of me. Maybe I could cancel today. How could I go over there now? I was humiliated. Not that it was Greg's fault. I had no idea his bedroom would be facing mine! I feel hot tears come to me as I scramble to get dressed. The doorbell rings. Not yet. I was so not ready for this.
I run downstairs. Fully dressed. There is aunt Alice. I let her come in after we hug.
"Excited about today?" she asks me cheerfully.
"You know I am not feeling well. I think that time of the month is heading my way. I need some rest on my day off" I mutter.
"Why are you trying to get out of the meet up? You were so excited to meet Greg. Mrs. Brady has a lunch all planned for us" mentions aunt Alice.
"Maybe we can do this another day" I plead.
Aunt Alice shakes her head. "No, we need to go today. Greg is working tomorrow" she reminds me.
"Fine I will go. For you and Mrs. Brady" I mutter.
Aunt Alice look puzzled. "I thought you wanted to go and meet Greg" she wonders.
I wince. "I had wanted to" I say softly.
I tell her what just happened. She bursts into laughter.

"Auntie" I grumble.
"I am sorry that is so funny" she giggles.
"Glad you find it amusing" I sigh.
"Greg is a gentleman. He won't bring it up" she vows.
"Are you sure?" I worry.
She nods. "Sure, he would not do anything like that" she says. "he is a great kid"
"So, I hear" I say.
Later on, by lunch aunt Alice has me feeling better about the luncheon over at the Brady's. I walk over next door with aunt Alice.
A nervous feeling jumble inside of me. I was about ready to head back to my place. I could not do this. No. Aunt Alice grabs my arm stopping me from leaving.
"You will be fine" she promises me. "Greg will adore you!"
She reaches over ringing the doorbell.
Mrs. Brady answers the door. She beams happy to see me. She hugs me then hugs Alice.
"Come on in ladies. We have been waiting for you!" she cheerfully announces.
I follow her inside. I had been in this place a dozen times and never been shy about coming in. Now I felt so shy. I hated feeling this way. I fold my hands together and follow them in.

"I made your favorite Daisy Mae" she brags.
"Oh?" I ask.
"Egg salad" she tells me.
"Oh great. I love them" I agree.
"And I made tuna for Greg" she adds. "GREG! DAISY and Alice are here" she calls up to the stairs. She had on a checkered printed orange and dark blue dress on. With a lovely tied bow ribbon in the front. She always wore her wedding rings still.
"Coming mother" I hear his deep voice answering.
I suck in my breath. He comes jogging down the stairs whistling to himself. He was wearing a dark blue jean shirt and dark jeans.
"Where is Bobby?" she asks.
"He will be back. He had to run some errands" Greg tells his mother.
"Daisy Mae I am so thrilled you finally get to meet my son Greg" she turns to me and says. "Daisy Mae Ferris meet Greg. Greg Brady. Greg this lovely lady is Daisy" she introduces us.
"Groovy!" Greg chuckles.
His cheeks were red. My own turn red as our eyes meet. Locking on one another. I knew he was thinking of our first meet. Of meet being half naked in my bedroom.
He goes to shake my hand. But I can't make myself reach my hand out to him. To nervous to. He pulls back.

"Head this way. Let's have lunch" says Mrs. Brady.
"Pleasure to meet you Greg" I say softly.
"What?" Greg asks me. "Sorry I did not hear you"
"It is nice to meet you" I mutter shyly.
We all sit down. The adults have me seated next to Greg.
Of course.
"I am happy to finally meet you. My mother has talked so much about you that I feel like I know you" laughs Greg.
"Same" I chuckle.
Aunt Alice smiles at me.
"Ready to eat?" asks Mrs. Brady.
"Sure" I agree. "Everything looks great"
"Sorry I did not hear you. Everything is so loud down at the office and the construction sites" says Greg.
"No worries" I say with a smile.
I soon excuse myself to go to the bathroom.
When I come out there is Greg.

"Oh hi" I stammer.
"I was wanting to talk with you alone" he tells me.
"Oh?" I ask. "Why?" I ask feeling nervous.
"I am so sorry that happened to you. I really did not see a thing" he lies though I know he saw plenty.
"Thank you, Greg." I say with a smile.
"I was worried you might not come after that" he says. "But you did, and I am glad"
"You know I almost did not come" I laugh.
We chuckle.
He was sure easy going to be around. He had a fantastic smile to. His eyes twinkled when he laughed.
"I would love to show you my father's old office sometime if you have time" he offers.
"I would love to" I agree.
"Great. Come on let's enjoy that groovy lunch mother made" he cheerfully says. I follow him back into the dining room area. I felt better about meeting him. He sure made me feel at ease.
He soon is joking with aunt Alice and Mrs. Brady. I was enjoying hearing his stories. He would glance my way and smile at me. I could not help but smile back.
Greg seemed to be everything they claimed he was. Maybe he was that one of a kind guys I had been hoping to find for myself.
I held on that hope down in my heart. I would have to wait and see how Greg felt about things. And how he would end up feeling about me....
