Vanessa The dashboard shows it’s almost midnight. Michael Cárdenas slows down and parks the car on the curb across from the impressive façade of the Gran Hotel del Sol. The building looks immense to me, several stories tall. The US flag waves proudly on a column, carried by the breeze. The place captivates me. I’m not used to hanging around the upscale neighborhoods of Houston, Texas, so nervously, I fidget with my fingers. “Maybe he’s already inside,” I whisper. “Keep your eyes on the entrance,” Michael insists, firm. “He’ll arrive with the others.” A slight sigh slips from my lips, but I turn my focus back to the hotel entrance where valets wait, smiling politely at the guests. Something tells me there’s tension in the air. Since we parked, the flow of luxury sedans hasn’t stopped.
