Miles POV
Growing up I’ve had everything come easy to me. I didn’t have to work or ask for help or anything. All I ever wanted was given to me without even getting to ask for it.
I grew up with what’s known as generational wealth. We’re known for our wealth and yes, of course we also do smell like money.
We are the Callahans.
Oh my bad, apologies for not introducing myself properly. My name is Miles Callahan, the heir to Callahan Groups, a successful global popular company founded by my great grandfather. But today isn’t about me or the company; it’s about my sister.
Brenda Callahan, my annoying brilliant softhearted sister who somehow convinced me that she didn’t need a visit for two whole years.
My phone buzzes as I step out of the jet.
“My darling was your flight?”, my mom’s voice chimed, dramatic as usual. “It was fine mom. Private jet, remember? It was definitely smooth and comfortable but I understand you just want to hear the voice of your lovely son” I replied.
“Haha you caught me there, stay safe as usual and don’t forget to come by if you miss us, love you! Bye!!” She said,
“Bye mom! I love you more” I replied and with that the call ended.
She still treats me like a child.
Hmm it’s about time I pay my lovely sister a suprise visit. I am an alumni of Woodland University, the most expensive private University in the world. You either get in with your money or with your brain. I know you’ll guess that I got in with money but nahh I didn’t.
I got in with my brain.
People assume otherwise and I let them, it keeps my rivals guessing and I love being underestimated.
I could’ve gotten in with money but I didn’t want to build a foundation where I didn’t deserve to get in the first place.
“Time for bed Miles”, I said to myself and slept off.
I woke up around 8am ready to suprise Brenda. I got ready and drove to Woodland University. Today is Saturday so no lectures, what a perfect day to suprise her.
I phoned her, “hello little lovely sister please look outside your window, beside the founders statue to be precise” I said.
She looked outside her window, “Miles!!!!! Oh my gosh!!! It’s you” she responded heartily, screaming loud enough to embarrass me, I love her anyway.
“Yes, yes, it’s me” I replied laughing and hugging her because she flew herself in the sky for me to catch.
I told her to get ready because I’m taking her out ASAP. She was filled to the brim with excitement. We went to shopping malls, hair spa, and she bought all sort of clothes from her famous brands which of course I paid for. We spent the whole day together. I’m such a big bro. It’s almost 4pm and I have to return her back to her residence.
We returned to the building and signed in at the reception . She gave me a tour around female residence and I must confess it’s much more beautiful than the male’s.
“You didn’t tell me you had a roommate,” I said as we stepped inside her room.
“Oh! Right. She’s like a sister to me,” Brenda says smiling.
“What’s her name?” I curiously asked.
“Naya. Naya Wells,” she responded.
My smile drops.
No, it can’t be her.
“Is she around?” I ask, voice a little sharper than I intended.
“She went to class earlier. She’ll return soon,” Brenda replies.
I don’t wait.
Suddenly I needed air and space… and distance.
“Tell her I stopped by,” I muttered and left.
Later in the day I got a call from my buddy Dante. He asked to meet up in our favorite bar.I got there in less than 10. He looked unusually nervous.
“I… got a girlfriend,” he confesses.
I raise a brow, “we literally promised to get into relationships the same day.”
He hesitates, “bro she’s different, look.”
He shoves his phone at me.
I whistled, “she’s fine damn!”
He laughs, “speaking of fine, I think you should give Tessa Leigh a shot.”
I scoff. “Tessa? She’s obsessed.”
“But?” Dante smirks.
I sigh, “but I … don’t hate her.”
“Exactly! You’re a handsome billionaire. She’s a beautiful successful businesswoman. It fits,” he cajoled me.
Maybe he’s right.
Mayne dating Tessa won’t be the worst thing.
I got to my house and took a hot shower to ease the stress that I went through in the day. I threw myself in my bed immediately I got off the shower. I pondered on what next to do, then I thought about calling Tessa. It wasn’t a bad idea afterall.
“Hi Miles,” she answered almost immediately. “You called, I must be dreaming.”.
“I’ve been busy, how about I make it up to you tomorrow afternoon, by 2pm at the newly opened 3-star restaurant which is about two streets away from my house?” I asked.
She was elated!
“Yess!!!! see you tomorrow Miles, can’t wait” she said and with that I ended the phone conversation.
I woke up the next morning thinking of one thing: Naya Wells.
Is it her? There’s no way
She shouldn’t be here… not in my sisters life, not in mine.
But there’s only one way to find out.
I dressed quickly, grabbed my keys and drove straight to Woodland University.
I can’t have her corrupt my only sister!!!
————————————————————
Everyone says Naya Wells is trash. A shameless girl who sleeps around for money.
A poor nobody who deserves no respect.
Miles Callahan believes very word of it.
She’s everything he hates; poor, surrounded by uncomfortable rumors and not his type.
The more people talk about her, the more disgusted he becomes.
Enemies don’t always stay enemies…
