The next day they’ve taken their position on the field practicing,james sweating profusely goes to the table to take water stopped by josephena,she collected the water from him,you have to pay for it.

Why do I have to pay for what is free?

Eve pick a bottle of water from the table and left.

James angrily speaks,you don’t collect money from other student,why me?

She reply,Because I say so.

He grabbed the water from the table run as fast as he can,Josephena chase after him running round the field.

Kate looking around the field for Ami,James bumped into her falling on

the ground with the water.

Ami in the store room with Micheal, bring the balls down micheal says pointing up.

Ami look up,how do I get it down?i can’t reach it,you do it yourself.

I will have done it myself if not for my broken hand.

Ami flabbergast,climb the ladder throw down the balls to Micheal the balls dropped rolling out of the store,Ami exclaim you could have catch the balls,why did you let it roll out?

He reply, I can’t catch many balls with one hand,I need my two hands to do that.

She climbed down picking the balls into the basket,Micheal push the basket while she pick the balls,after they are done picking the balls,he let go of the basket.

Ami placed her hands on her waist breathing heavily,she quietly push the basket to the field.

she sneak away while Micheal is distracted,she sit on the floor grab the water in front of James gulp it down.

James shout,that my water.

Josephena laughs,says,that’s the end for you.

Kate ask Ami,what is going on between you and Micheal?

Josephena cut in,you’ve been running at his beck,is he bullying you? If he is I will teach him a lesson.

Kate speaks,Micheal doesn’t bully student.

Josephena reply,what am I saying? Micheal does not treat students badly.

Ami sit down quietly not giving them a response.

You left your position to gossip,Anitha says.

Am not a gossiper like you and no student is hurt.

You have to maintain your position as a medical assistance not wondering around,we are a team we need to stay together to provide first aid to any injure student.

They went back to the tent together.

Ami is happy that she escape their question about Micheal,she join her

team to practice for the race,a figure blocked her track path stopping her from the race.

She get angry to see Micheal,yell out,what do you want from me? I have to practice for tomorrow competition,”other student were watching them”.

Emily freak out throw the medicine box in her hand on the floor,why are they always together?.

Calm down, it a coincidence,Anitha says.

She glared at her, she is getting on my nerve I have to do something.

Ami ask Kate to drop her at home,my car broke down and it getting late.

On their way,Josephena sat at the passenger sit glaring at Ami through

the mirror.

she avoid eye contact with her by looking outside the window.

out with it girl, Josephena says staring at her.

what do you mean?.

What is going on between you and Micheal,is there a secret we don’t know.

She reply,there’s no secret.

Then why are you two always together?,you barely have time to

practice.

Kate contribute,she is right tell us what is going on.

She hesitate,am the one that broke his hand and he promised not to tell anyone as long as I assist him during the competition.

“Kate and Josephena aghast,” that why he's taking advantage of you.

She reply,yes.

I wish am the one that broke his hand, I will be glad to do all his work.

Kate and Ami look at Josephena and laughs.

Ami get down from the car,thanks for the drive.

Kate reply,anytime bae.

Josephena waved at her,good night.

Its late at night when Emily returns,she enter the kitchen to get water,Kiana beat her shoulder.

She flings out,mum you startled me.

It 1am,where have you been?

She smiles, I went to get a gift for my dear sister.

What do you mean by that?,what are you scheming?

Mum calm down,a little gift will not hurt.

Whatever you do don’t let your father find out,I don’t want to get kick out of this house.

Emily walks out on her with the glass of water in her hand.

It a good morning indeed mum,she pull a chair beside Kiana sitting across Ami.

Kiana speaks,it only a week left before your marriage,you should come

along with me to the mall,lets fix a wedding dress for you.

Austin says,Emily you should go along with them.

I have no reason to be there,am not the one getting marry.

Am already looking for a suitor for you,once Ami gets marry you are next.

Dad I don’t need you to find me a man I can find one myself.

Austin reply,Those ones you go around drinking and partying with.

At least I know who they are not a total stranger you know nothing about.

Austin looks at Ami eating quietly.

Kiana smirk at her.

The competition has commenced each team are talking between themselves.

Josephena is setting the medicine box on the table,Anitha joins her under the tent,no wondering around, today is the D-day we have to be on stand by till the end of the competition.

Eve ask,what if we want to use the restroom?

Emily reply,you hold it in,I don’t want to lose any mark because of a silly mistake.

Ami and James stands on the field together,James says,the marathon is

ongoing I wonder if Kate can make it to the end,he look at Josephena

under the tent looking out anxiously.

Ami walks to her assuring her,kate is strong she will make it.

Josephena,they’ve gotten to the finish line Kate is nowhere to be seen,I should go and find her.

You can’t leave,you have to stay right here,Emily stops her.

James shout,look pointing to Anitha’s direction.

Josephena run to her,hug her tightly takes her to the tent.

Ami brought out a chair for her to sit on.

James drag Ami,lets go it our turn.

Micheal grab her hand from behind,Ami look at him holding her tightly,what do you want again?

Don’t look at me like that,I just want to wish you,all the best.

She ran to take her position “exclaim” I got this.

The race begin students are cheering for them,Ralph got to the finish line,the noise died down they are surprised to see Ralph getting the first position in the race,Ami comes second.

A tall dark skin black hair his brown shinning eye complementing his black skin,his muscle is seen through his white t-shirt approach Ami on the field with a rose flower and a box of chocolate,congratulation on getting the second position in the race,but you will always come first to me.

Ami looks confuse as she collect the gift from him.

Micheal says,the competition is not open to outsiders,how did you get in?

He smiles,I can go anywhere I want, and am here to cheer for Ami,does that answer your question?.

Micheal reply,No, I have to take responsibility for the safety of the

students here including Ami,he grabbed her hand and pull her behind him.

He grab Ami’s other hand,I have a right to her.

“The student aghast”.

Micheal look at Ami,do you know him?

I will give you the answer to that,am Jim,Ami’s future husband.

Ami aghast,she look at Micheal shocked.

Micheal release her hand and announce,the competition has come to

an end,your class president will get the result across to you,and left.

Ami stands watching him leave the field.

Emily under the tent pleased with herself.

Anitha look at her,did you do it? You invited that guy.

She laughs,I couldn’t bare seeing her with Micheal,I have to show him that Ami is not the right one for him.“They both laugh”.

‘Eve mumble to herself”,how can someone be so evil?

T-café is one of the famous restaurant in Tophill city,Ami sit by the window side staring at Jim ordering ice cream for them.

He sits across her,I honor your invitation as you want.

Ami confuse, how could i have sent you an invite?,this is my first time meeting you.

Jim reply,your name was on the letter,he brings out a paper from his pocket.

Ami (solitude) this is Emily’s hand writing,how did she know Jim?she

look at him.

Is there anything you want me to do before our marriage?Jim ask.

Ami reply, I don’t want to marry you.

Jim staring at her intensly,No,I have to marry you.

Ami exclaim,stood up and left.

He sits still watch her leaving the restaurant.

Ami is welcome by the sound of music,sees Emily with a glass of wine

moving her body to the sound of the music.

Kiana comes in with cookies and a glass of wine in her hand sees Ami standing by the entrance,come join the celebration.

She put off the music,walks to Emily throw the letter to her face,you sent this letter to Jim claiming it from me.

Emily smiles,it my gift for your wedding,don’t you like it?.

You told everyone in school about my marriage causing a problem for me now you had to invite Jim,sending him a letter with my name on it.

Don’t yell at my daughter you murder,you got your mother killed because of your stupid birthday,”throw the wine in her

glass on her face”.

Emily smirk,you think you can have it all because your mother is rich,Micheal is mine and mine alone she says and leave,kiana follows her.

Nanny takes her to her room wipe the drink off her face,you should change your clothe I will bring your dinner to your room,your father got a new contract,he wouldn’t be coming home for the next two days.

It late at night Ami sits on the terrace staring at the moon,mum I miss you,I wish you are still here with me.

Nanny sit beside her,your mother was a wonderful woman she brought me into this house,she asked me to take care of you because she was always busy with work,you were 5years when your father brought home Kiana and Emily,your mother was devastated,she comes home

late because of Kiana’s presence in the house. She willed all her properties to you on your 17thbirthday before fetching the ticket from the airport.

Kiana wants my father’s properties that why she married him,she acts nice whenever he’s around but she is a devil in disguise.

Your father met her at a brothel in France on his business trip,she lured him into marrying him because of Emily existence.

Nanny stands up,that enough for today,It late,you need to rest.
