Forgiveness is strange. People think it’s about release, letting go. But sometimes, forgiveness is about holding on. Holding on to the truth, the pain, and still choosing to move forward. That’s what i did with Joan.
I had forgiven her the moment she said Dani’s name.
Because that changed everything.
This wasn’t just betrayal. This was fear. A desperate, ugly kind of fear that makes people do terrible things. I know that fear. I’ve lived it. And if it had been Dani in danger… or Kai, i might’ve done worse.
But Kai? That’s where the wound still bled fresh.
Joan stood before me in ruins, and i stayed. I didn’t speak. I didn’t hold her. But i stayed. Because she was broken, and she was honest. That meant something.
