CHAPTER 18 Grant didn’t sleep very well. In his dreams he was tormented by mermaids, tortured by the Spanish police chief, won a Reader’s Digest free draw competition despite having sent back the ‘no’ reply envelope, but then lost the £180,000 cheque when it was eaten by a lobster. He left Jill sleeping, just put on his dressing gown and made for the en suite. He was busting for a pee. The house was eerily quiet. Grant liked early mornings, it was the best time to think.
