Chapter 3 - Kane's POV

After a rather boring flight they landed on Dark Moon Pack lands. They were greeted by Anton, Alpha Frederick's Beta and escorted with all the honors to the pack's main house. As they traveled from the airport to the town, they saw many factories, farms and business. It was certainly a huge community. As they were reaching the main gates, they could see the majestic villa unfold before them.,, Fit for a King? " Roan pointed out via mind link to Kane. His lips were curled in a smile, but he didn't answer. After getting past the gates a beautiful garden with a big white marble fountain drew their attention. That soon shifted when they reached the main door of the villa as Alpha Frederick, along with Luna Gabriella and other high-ranking members were standing in wait for their arrival. As soon as they got out of the SUV they all bowed to Kane who greeted them politely. He shook Frederick's hand and was then introduced to his son Matei and his mate Erica. To his third in command, Owen, his mate Diana and their daughter Martha. Then they were invited to the large and tastefully decorated living room.

,, It has been quite some time since your last visit here so we are honored to have you as our treasured guest your Majesty. " Alpha Frederick said while the butler came with glasses full of champagne. Kane lifted his glass and toasted to peace, good relations, to wise and strong Alphas.

,, Dinner will be served in an hour. If you would like to freshen up a bit, I will show you to your rooms. "Luna Gabriella offered.

Kane smiled at her. She was such a beautiful and classy woman. And her reputation as a Luna was astonishing.,, I would like that. Thank you." he accepted.

She led them up a grand staircase and through a wide and well-lit corridor. The rooms were lavish and big. They all had their bath and balcony and were equipped with everything they could need during their stay. Kane was rather impressed. After Luna Gabriella left, Kane headed out to the balcony. Beautifully trimmed gardens unfolded before his eyes. They had many gazebos adorned with a variety of flowers. He had never experienced such a lovely smell from flowers. It was intoxicating and he smelled it as soon as he stepped out of the SUV. It put him in a good mood. After he took a shower he decided to go downstairs.

He asked an Omega if he could take him to see Alpha Frederick. The young boy who was dressed as a butler led him to his master's office. Alpha Frederick was smoking a cigarette near the fireplace and invited Kane to sit with him. Kane liked the informal atmosphere, he thought a friendly, off-the-record chat between them would prove more productive than a formal meeting where their Betas and Gammas would be present.

,, You have developed your pack very nicely this past year. I have seen many new factories and businesses. I am very pleased. "Kane said.

Frederick grinned while puffing his cigarette.,, Thank you, your Majesty. I have to keep up with people's demands for modernization and improvement." he said.,, If I don't I might find myself at a loss of pack members. "

,, Speaking of pack members, you have performed well in that sector too. You have reached considerable growth. If you keep this up, Alpha Tate might find himself demoted as the second-largest pack." Kane said while laughing.

Alpha Frederick laughed loudly. He was expecting this, after all he suspected that was the main reason the King had come.,, Yes, would be quite a blow to his pride. I am happy with the way my pack is developing, in terms of population. The fact that we are housing smaller packs has produced this spike in our numbers. " he stated.

,, Housing?" Kane asked surprised.

,, Yes. Alpha Tate has been courting them into merging with his pack. Courting with fear and threats, so they have asked me or Alpha Gregor for housing or protection. I merged with them to avoid war, but with Tate, you never know what might happen. "

,, Why did you not inform me of this immediately?" Kane was already raging with anger.

,, There is time for him to lose his life or his Alpha title. Give him a little credit. Maybe he thinks that planning something big could take you, us, by surprise."

,, Well, he is invited to my son's mating party... he certainly doesn't expect to see you attend. Would be interesting to see his reaction." Frederick said.

,, Very good. I will have a conversation with Alpha Tate and see if I can get something out of him. " Kane saw that he wanted to interrupt him to say something and cut him off.,, Do not worry, I will be a gentleman and not ruin the most important event of your son's life." he sounded almost sarcastic. Frederick nodded and offered him another glass of scotch. Kane refused and continued.,, Is he your heir to the Alpha position?"

Frederick let out a sigh, but Kane saw he was displeased.,, You have so many sons, at least one should be able to take your position..." he continued.

,, I know my time is slowly slipping away, but I am sure one of my sons would like to take my position. Right now some are away, but I have agreed with this situation only because I want them to fully enjoy their life before taking the responsibility of the pack leadership. "

Frederick cleared the air.

,, Good thinking." Kane managed to say before being interrupted by the Omega butler who was announcing dinner.

The food was plenty and it was delicious. After dinner, Alpha Frederick offered them a glass of whiskey and treated them to a few stories from his youth, they headed to a well-deserved rest.

Before going to sleep, Kane informed Roan of his chat with Frederick and they decided to tread carefully as he was suspecting Frederick was hiding something from him
