Chapter 2 - Madeline's POV

,,Who is visiting this time?’’Madeline asked with a frown.

,,It is our King my dear.’’ her father, Alpha Frederick, answered. ,,He will be arriving this evening along with his Beta and some security. He will be housed here with us during his one-week stay, he will be our most treasured guest.’’ Madeline rolled her eyes. ,,Listen to me very careful my dearest child.’’ he continued. ,,We have to be respectful towards him and his party. As King he can be kind and merciful or he can be the other way around.’’

,,His reputation precedes him. There is no need for warnings. Besides, when have I let you down ?’’ Madeline cut him off with a grin on her face.

,,Just like your mother, you never let me down! The Moon Goddess has blessed me with the both of you!’’ Frederick replied.

,,I love you too daddy! Could I please be excused from the festivities today?’’ she asked.

,,Yes, you may, but just today. You will have to be present at the mating party tomorrow. No excuses. ’’ ,,Thank you! You are the best!’’ she said while hugging him! As she was leaving the study, her mother, Luna Gabrielle, was standing in the door. ,,She has you wrapped around her little fingers darling!’’ Madeline smiled and gave her mother a quick kiss on the cheek and left in a hurry. Alpha Frederick was sitting at his desk and smiling. ,,Yes, she does!’’ he admitted.

,, Everything is ready for our guests’ arrival. I can’t wait to see the King.’’ Luna said excitedly. ,, You didn’t get a chance to tell me why is he visiting all of a sudden?’’ she asked.

,,Because we had a huge population growth and I assume he believes I am attacking packs and taking over to build strength and take his place.’’ he replied laughing.

,,Oh, then it is for the best if you tell him about what Alpha Tate is doing.’’

,,Even better, I will show him and let him decide what is best regarding our neighbor Alpha’s actions!’’ Frederick exclaimed.

,,He may be King, but he has nothing on you my darling Alpha! Let them have war and we will have our peace and happiness.’’ replied Gabrielle.

,,I am worried about Madeline. I feel that what happened with Anton’s daughters might have had a toll on her. Never had I seen her avoid the opportunity to meet new people, socialize… ’’ Alpha Frederick said.

,,Well, the King is unmated and he will shortly be 35… maybe he does consider marriage by now and Madeline is every man’s dream! She would be a fantastic Queen, but I would like for her to find her mate. Could we avoid such a predicament?’’ the Luna asked.

,,Kane is like a coin. You either face the reasonable and fair man or the cold and ruthless one that made him King and that we all fear. I would honestly like to believe that he would be aware that marriage is not the same as the mating bond. It would be a mistake to hide her from him...We will decide after dinner tonight. '' he concluded.

,, Yes, we should get a move on then. I believe they will be landing in about an hour. "

Meanwhile, Madeline was in her room with her best friend, Martha, the daughter of her father's third in comand, Owen,and they were discussing the upcoming events.

,, I can't wait to meet the King. I heard he is the most handsome man in the world! What if he is my mate?? "Martha gushed.

,, I am not really looking forward to this visit. Handsome or not, I heard he is a very cruel man." Madeline replied.

,, Either way he is the King and it would be all worth it. " Martha insisted.,, Have you decided what are you wearing to your brother's mating party tomorrow? "

Madeline grinned.,, Of course. I found the perfect dress. I am having it delivered tomorrow morning. I can't wait to see Erica's face when I make my grand entrance." They both started to laugh.

,, Whatever you decide to wear is irrelevant simply because you are so beautiful and all the males will stare at you in awe... and the females with envy!!" Martha stated and hugged her best friend.

,, You are to kind my dearest friend! We will both shine tomorrow, I am sure! '' Madeline said while admiring herself in the huge mirror she had in her room. She was petite at 5.3 feet with big round hazel eyes, plump pink lips, long straight black hairwith and with a perfect curvy body. Along with her regal attitude, her expensive and tasteful style made her the most beautiful and coveted female of the pack. She knew her worth and exactly how to use it. Madeline was her mother's right hand and could handle everything that came her way.

,, Maybe the Goddess will bless us with our mates at the party tomorrow...'' Martha said.,, I will soon be 29 and I honestly hope that I will be mated and not married. '' she continued with a sigh.

,, Oh Martha! " Madeline interrupted her.,, I am sure the Goddess has only wonderful things in store for you. Your mate will be the perfect man!" she smiled at her best friend.,, I, on the other hand, wouldn't mind waiting a little longer for mine. I enjoy my life as it is and I honestly don't think I am ready to become a mate and even less a mother." she concluded.

"Oh, shoot! Look at the time. I have to go and get ready for dinner with the King!! Are you really not coming??" Martha asked.

,, No, I will let you tell me all about it though. And, I will be snooping behind the curtain, to see Erica fail her first official duty." Madeline said while laughing.

,, You are something! I will come see you as soon as I get a chance." siad Martha as she was leaving.

Madeline decided to go to the kitchen and order dinner to her room so that she wouldn't have to face the guests just yet. After that she checked her schedule for the next day, making sure everything was in order. Then she relaxed with a hot bath and a fashion show on TV.
