✰ Chapter 9 ✰

The next day, I wake up with my boyfriend’s arm over my waist. It’s so heavy. I just want to go to the bathroom. Lord why did you have to make my soulmate have such heavy but muscular arms? “Babe I got to go potty.” I sighed trying to push his arm off of me. “Mm, but you’re so soft.” He mumbles whilst pulling me closer. “Meh, I still need to go.” I sighed, while looking at him. He then opens his eyes and then starts to look at me with a pout. “I’ll be back in bed, I promise.” I explained. “Okay.” He mumbled then turned on his stomach and slept. Making me sigh. My poor cutie. It’s 11 am and he’s still so tired. I quietly get out of bed, and then continue doing everything quietly. I really do not want to wake him up.   ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ “Um, I’ll have a whole chicken Caesar salad with no croutons, and a lot of Caesar dressing.” I tell the Panera guy at the register. “Okay, anything else?” He asks me after putting in my order. “Um yeah, I’ll have a large Pepsi.” I tell him. He nods and puts it in the register, and then hands me my large clear plastic cup. “Okay, your total is $10.22.” The guy tells me. I just nodded my head and then get my debit card out. I’m currently eating lunch before going to work tonight. My shift begins at 11 am on the dot. And doesn’t end till 7:30 pm tonight. But Charles has his own key to my house, courtesy of my daddy. So, after we both kissed our goodbyes, I told him to lock up the place. He has to work at 12 pm till 10 pm but will still come over afterwards for another one of our sleepovers. “Oh, what’s your name?” He asks me. “Macie.” I tell him. “Alright and here is your pager.” He tells me then hands me a pager. “Thank you.”  I said while gladly taking it. “Have a good day.” He tells me with a smile. “You too.” I say.   ~**~*~**~*~*~*~*~ I get inside my car and put my half empty cup in the cup holder. Then I close my car door and start my engine up. “Time for work.” I sighed. I told them to let me work late shifts so I can make up for lost time. Also, it’s because I feel bad, they get super busy on Friday nights, and I have to go to football games.   I plug my phone into the auxiliary cord, and then play some good ole country songs, even some old ones too. “Well, time for work.” I sighed, and then pulled out of the parking spot.   ~*~*~*~ “LIFE IS A HIGHWAY, AND I’M GONNA DRIVE IT ALL NIGHT LONG!!” I sing to myself while pulling into the mall parking lot.   I find a good spot near the entrance, and turn my engine off, and then take my phone out of the aux cord. I then mentally groan when I find out that I work tomorrow as well. But it’s an 11 am till 6 pm because I can’t legally work after 10 pm, because I am still a minor. Also, that being said, my manager doesn’t like me working super late before a school night, because he wants me to focus on homework.   “Okay, let’s do this.” I say out loud. I really need to stop doing that.   ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ “Almost closing time girls.” My coworker, Megan says. “You got that right, I’m going to sneeze soon, these are so much perfume.” My other coworker, Kyra complains. Women. “How was your game last night Macie?” Kyra asks me. Changing the subject. “Really great, my school won.” I told her. “Well that’s good.” Kyra says. “Gosh I don’t think I ever went to any of my high school football games.” Megan explains whilst putting tags on some men’s jeans. “Really why?” I ask her, giving her a quick look and then went back to counting the drawer of the register. “I just was always anti-social, I didn’t do any clubs, no sports, nothing.” Megan explains nonchalantly. “Well it’s your last year in college, have you been to any games during your years at TCU?” Kyra asks her. Megan stops and thinks for a little. “Yeah, a couple my freshman year, and then like two or three during my sophomore and last year. But I’m not sure I will this year.” Megan explains to the two of us. “Oh, is it because you just want to focus on graduating already?” I ask her. “That, and I just want to keep working, so I can get my own place, I love my roommates, but I want a place of my own someday.” Megan sighs. “I can agree with that.” Kyra sighs too. “Texas Tech is kicking my butt man, and it’s only my second year.” Kyra then adds whilst groaning. “It’ll go by fast Kyra, and even for you Macie, high school will be over before you know it.” Megan explains to me. This made me a little sad. “So, Macie, have you applied anywhere yet?” Kyra asks me. “Um, yeah there’s one college I really am hoping that I get accepted in.” I tell them as a matter of fact. “Oh? What college is that?” Megan asks me. “University of Louisville.” I tell her. “That’s a good one, good cheer team too.” Kyra tells me with a grin. This made me smile. “Yeah I know, that’s why I want to go to it.” I say while I  keep smiling. “That’s good.” Megan explains. “Yeah, that’s really good.” Kyra agrees. Then we continue to close the store.
