The Unexpected (COMPLETED)

    *The morning of my 16th birthday, Cassandra’s P.O.V.* I wake up to the sound of John’s voice yelling “Cassandra, get your ass down here!” I bolted up and ran downstairs only to be met by a guy who looks familiar, but I can’t quite put my finger on it. “Cassandra, it is so nice to finally meet you, I will be taking you to school this morning. I shall wait for you while you get ready.” That was weird, I have never had anyone talk to me like that before, much less in front of John. “Thank you sir, it is nice to meet you too.” With that I ran upstairs and started getting ready for the day. I start my shower while I am picking out my clothes. I don’t like much skin showing because of all of my scars, so I pick out a long sleeve casual shirt, with black sweatpants, with old tennis shoes. I know, It’s super hoboish but I don’t really care. I finish getting dressed and almost forgot to apply makeup to my bruises. I cover my black eye, and there’s not much to do for my busted open lip. I raced downstairs to see John angry. “Took you long enough yet you still look hideous.” It doesn’t bother me anymore when someone calls me ugly or makes fun of me, I’ve heard it enough to know that I am. The only thing that saved me from getting slapped for being hideous was the new guy standing there. “I think I should get her to school before she’s late. Shall we Cassandra?” I just stand there dumbfounded for the longest before I could even reply. “Yes sir.” The whole drive to school was silent, but it wasn’t awkward for some reason, I feel like I know this guy. We arrive at school but before I get out the new guy finally talks again. “Cassandra, just hold on a little longer and it will get better.” With that he opened my door and drove off. Was he talking about John? Who is he? “Cassie over here” I spot Ashley waving at me to come, when I finally arrive to where she is she yells super loud like I’m not beside her.”HAPPY BIRTHDAY CASSANDRA!” Everyone in the parking lot clapped like I was royalty or something. “Thanks Ash but I will get you for..” I was cut off when I hear two girls whispering “What makes her so special I mean look at her she’s ugly and useless.” Before I could control myself, I let out an inhuman growl that vibrates the ground. I turned around and made my way to the school to get to my locker, and everyone parted ways for me like I was Moses. When I finally got into the school I ran into a guy I’ve never seen before. “And you are?” gosh why am I being so hateful. “Name’s Axel me and my pack are new here.” okay did he just call his friends a pack that’s hilarious. I start laughing. “Okay Axel, just stay out of my way.” I turned and left. He was really handsome, okay he was freaking hot and of course he’s going to either hate me now or be afraid of me because I was so mean to him splendid. Of course he was in all of my classes, and he kept looking over at me with his eyes sparkling. What is his problem can’t he look somewhere else. When the lunch bell rang I see Ash talking to Axel. Awe my Ash is all grown up. I buy a bottle of water and leave I head for the football field. I usually run during lunch since John will make me puke when I get home and if I have any food in my system he will beat me worse. I like running, so it isn’t like I’m punishing myself, when I’m running it allows my mind to wonder about what my life would be like if my parents hadn’t died. I start running, but this time I’m thinking about Axel.When I hear the bell ring I run towards the bleachers to get my water to realize Axel is standing there watching me like a perv. “May I help you?” I ask “How do you run that fast, and why don’t you eat?” “That’s for me to know and you to never find out” I turned around to walk back towards the school when I heard a thump. I turn around to see Axel just laying on the ground unconscious. I ran up to him and lifted my hand to touch his forehead, but when I did I felt sparks from where my hand had just touched his skin. What the crap was that did my hand just go numb or something. I look up to see my foster dad standing there looking at me like I had two heads. “John, it’s so nice to see you. What are you doing here?” “Well, my dear Cassandra, I was just making sure my girl was having a good day.” Anyone could tell it was a lie. “But now I guess I have to kill you since you just saw what I did.” He said it like it was nothing he really is a monster! “You. You did this to Axel? I will kill you” I growled once again making John step back from it. Why do I care about Axel so much I don’t even know him? “Cassandra you wouldn’t hurt a fly.” With that I punched him so hard he went flying back. When and how did I become so strong? “Seems you were wrong” I smirked. “How? You know what never mind I don’t care, you’re going to die anyways. I have been hunting werewolves since I could walk. You are not going to take this away from me.” What is he talking about? Werewolves? I have read many books about them, but never really believed it was true I mean my gut always said they were but… are they? John lunged at me but I dodged him just in time. I kicked him in the ribs and heard a snapping sound. John fell and cried out in pain. I ran over to check on Axel, his pulse is very weak. I do the only thing that comes to my mind to help him. I pick him up and run towards the woods that are behind the school, thankfully no one was outside to see me. After we get what I think is deep enough in the woods I lay him down softly on the ground. What now? I turn around just in time as John tackled me to the ground. “Get off of me you i***t!” I yelled he was on top of me crushing me. “Why do you care if he lives so much? Cassandra, answer me this instance.” He demanded, but this time it didn’t seem to scare me. “I don’t have to answer to you John, so get out of my face.” I quickly pushed him off and punched his face so hard he fell unconscious. “Well, that happened.” I say aloud to myself. “Cassandra?” I hear Axel cough and then try to sit up. “Hey, I’m here it’s okay. Don’t move you’ll hurt yourself more. You was shot by silver.” How did I know that? “I was what and where are we?” he asked worriedly. “You was shot by my foster dad and he shot you with silver, because he hunts werewolves, and I carried you out here. Oh, by the way John’s laying right over there unconscious.” I tell him like it was nothing. “Wh…” “shhh someone is coming.” I cut him off as I smell something dark. What is wrong with me, all I know is I have to protect Axel. “Cassandra It’s not safe you need to get out of here!” Did he seriously just yell at me? Before I could reply I hear a growl. So I growl back, except my growl shakes the whole Earth. “Show yourself pup.” I demand. As soon as I did a lone wolf stepped out from behind the trees, and shifted. “I am so sorry for the trouble ma’am please just let me go I am hunting for my family.” His eyes told me he wasn’t lying. “You may leave, but next time be careful.” With that the wolf shifted and ran off with his tail between his legs. “Cassandra, help me up please.” I ran over to Axel who looked confused, heck I felt confused. Then in an instant I had this pounding in my head that hurt so bad I doubled over in pain holding my head like it would bust any second. Almost like a movie memories came back to me as my father and mother were also wolves. I remember them telling me pack stories, and me riding on my fathers back while he was in wolf form running through the woods. The memories go away, but the pounding in my head gets worse. My dad always warned me this would happen, so I know where to go. I got up and ran to my waterfall, yes it was my waterfall. I changed the water purple when I was younger, but I haven’t been here in nine years. As I got closer to the waterfall, I dived in. I instantly felt better, but I know it’s only the beginning. I hear Axel rushing towards me. “Stay away, I don’t want to hurt you too.” He stayed at the bank of the water, then I feel the pain in my stomach. “Aaahhhhhhhh” I yelled out in pain. Axel once again tried to help me. “Stay back Axel!” I growled at him I hope he doesn’t get mad. I dived under the water only to have my bones pop and I screamed and the water turned a dark black before it turned back into a metallic purple. I jumped out of the water onto the shore as a wolf. I looked at the water to see my reflection was a beautiful metallic purple colored wolf with my eyes ocean blue. Axel walks towards me, but I smell John. Before I even saw what was going on, I jumped in front of Axel. That is when I felt the worse pain in my entire life. I lunged at John and snapped his neck, then shifted with my clothes still on. “Cassandra! Listen to me baby, it’s going to be okay I will help you just hold on.” The last thing I heard before I blacked out was Axel yelling at me to stay awake.
