My Known Mate

Surprise

Aiden’s POV

The day for which I have waited so many years is finally here, but now I am feeling so very nervous. I have tried so much to calm down myself but am not able to. Even, my mum is also not with me, she is out welcoming every guest with my dad. And here,  I am alone in my room standing in front of the mirror, wearing a black suit with a red tie, getting ready to go out, where everyone must be present by now.

Dad has invited all our allies to attend the party, where “he will be free of all responsibilities and will burdens.” These were the words that came from my dad’s mouth, not mine. But when he said those words, everyone present at the situation laughed loudly in an instant reaction, because everyone knows it very well that, The Jaxon Romano, can never sit idle and calmly too without worrying about his pack and family.

“Hey bro, come on, alpha said you to come out.” Kyler entered my room saying. Taking a last look upon myself, I leave my room taking a long breath and chanting, “everything's fine, you can do it, Aiden”

“Hey Dev, you there?” I asked my wolf.

“Yeah, I am here only. You ready to accept the alpha title and also to tell everyone about mate?” he asked me replying.

“Was since ever, just feeling nervous. Mate is a surprise, and I am so excited to see the look on her face when I will tell her about it.” I replied. I have not told anyone about our mate, Devon and I both have decided to surprise everyone by revealing it at the party, even our mate. “What about you wolfy, are you ready to lead the pack?” I asked him after some time.

“I am more than ready, I came knowing about it and I’m born for this only.” He replied to me.

“Yeah, yeah, let’s go then,” I said to him, chuckling at his reply.

“Mate, mate, mate..”  Dev started howling and scratching in my head. Hearing him, I  looked down the stairs in the hallway, and there she was busy with the omegas helping them with their some works, I guess. I descended the stairs, looking at her only, without taking my eyes off her, and then she looked up towards us, sensing my stare. her eyes met mine and they seemed, sad. But why is she sad? Did anything happened or am I just thinking too much? I thought in my head.

“No, you are correct mate is sad. I can feel her.” Said Dev in a sad voice.

“Are you sure about it? But why is sad?” I replied to him in confusion. Always a happy girl, with a smile on her face which brightens the day of anyone, she is. Then why today she is sad, that too on my eighteenth birthday. I thought.

“Go and ask her you fool. Why just staring at her?” My wolf yelled at me. listen to him, I was just going to him but a member came in between and said bowing to me, “Junior Alpha, Alpha is calling you. Everyone has come and only waiting for you.”

“Yeah, I am coming, you go,” I replied. Bowing to me, he went out.

Then I again I proceeded towards her and saw her also coming to me.  “Hey,  you looking great, today.” she complimented me.

“Thank you, Aves. And you as well, looking gorgeous.” She smiled shyly.

“Thank you. So, let’s go if you are ready?” she asked me.

“Yeah but before that, I want to ask you something,” I replied. And saw her expression changing with a frown on her head.

“What?” She asked in confusion.

“You are looking…” I started asking her but was interrupted.

“Hey bro, you just complimented her already. So, let’s go. Alpha and everyone is waiting for you, you are already late.” Kyler said interrupting me.

“Yeah, but wait,” I said to him and turned to Avery again, to ask her, but again this time was interrupted by Avery herself.

“You can ask me whatever you want. But now let’s go, Aids, otherwise it will be disrespectful toward the ones waiting out for you.” She said, and then Kyler started dragging me, saying, “Yeah man, come otherwise alpha will scold me for not bringing you out at the time.”

“I am not a kid, Kyler. You can tell him that I was not coming with you.” I replied to him irritatingly, not being able to know the reason behind my mate’s sadness.

“Yeah, as if he will leave me then.” Saying this he stopped, as we reached out between everyone. I smiled looking at everyone and started going taking steps, going between the crowd, everyone wishing me. Then I looking towards the stage in the center of the field, I saw my dad and mom standing upon it.

They smiled at me and announced, “So, everyone welcomes my son, for whom we are all her. Aiden Romano, the to be alpha of this pack.” Announcing the signed me to come on the stage. Going up on the stage, all the nervousness came back to me but nonetheless walking to my dad, I smiled at looking at everyone.

“Thank you, to each and everyone present here, for taking out their precious time and coming to my eighteenth birthday, for showering their blessings and wishes on me. This shows how blessed I am for having this many of the well-wishers. ”I thanked gesturing to everyone and saw thousands of smiles showing their happiness for me. After some seconds my dad again started speaking,

“So today, early morning my son had his first shift and got his wolf,” Dad announced and the air filled with howls and cheers of everyone. “Now just, only finding his mate is left and then the new alpha will be ready for our pack and I will relax transferring all my responsibilities on his shoulders.” Saying this he looked at me proudly. I smiled looking at him, the way he looks at me whenever the topic of me becoming the alpha comes, itself speaks to how much belief and trust he keeps in me.

“What are you thinking about humans? It’s time, tell everyone about mate.” Dev mind links me.

“Yeah, wolfy I know. Control your eagerness.” I replied to him.

“Everyone, enjoy, and have fun now.” My dad announced but before everyone dispersed I asked dad to everyone for a minute, he looks at me confusingly but still does as I asked him.

“Everyone kindly just waits for a minute, my son wants has something to announce for all of us present here.” He requested everyone. Even after being the alpha and that too the leader, he always respects everyone, and I just want to become like him.

Now, every eye was on me, eagerly waiting for me to speak. Clearing my throat, I started speaking, “so everyone now knows that I have found my wolf already. But no one knows this, that I also have found my mate already.” While saying this whole thing, my eyes were fixed on one person only, to get her reaction and capture it in my mind and heart. But as I announced, the color faded away from her face, which was glowing just a second before.

“Really???” my mum squeaked and hugged me tightly, making my attention divert from my mate.

“Who is the lucky one, son?” my dad asked then, looking at me with a big smile on his face, seeking my attention.

Again looking at mate, I smiled determining to take away that sadness from her face. “You also know her dad and that too very closely,” I said to him, making them curious.

“Son, just say her name and end all this suspense. I can’t wait anymore.” My mum asked excitingly, jumping up and down holding my arms.

“OK, OK mum, so my mate name is, none other than, AVERY MALLOY, and soon-to-be all yours luna,”  I announced and Dev’s howling was then filled in my head. But still, I managed the whole time keeping my eyes on her and also capturing her’s shocking reaction which she still has on her face. Again the air filled with the howls and cheers of everyone and I started walking towards Ave.

Standing in front of her, I held her hand and instantly felt the sparks that everyone used to say about the mates. Holding her hand, I took her to the stage and stood in front of mum and dad. They both hugged us congratulating and we turned towards everyone, “so everyone, here are your future alpha and luna.” Dad announced, and again the air-filled but this time with the congratulations from everyone.

“Thank you to everyone and please enjoy the party.” I thanked everyone and turned to my mate. "And soon the date of the alpha ceremony will be announced, so do come to attend that day too" my dad announced to everyone.

Turning towards Ave then, I saw her face still holding a confused look, while looking at me. “Come with me,” I said holding her hands, seeing everyone now busy with talking to each other.

I took her to the backyard of the packhouse, in between thanking everyone, congratulating us. Sitting on the bench with her, I asked her, “what happened, Aves? What is disturbing you? I am seeing since I came out you seem sad.” I asked her.

“It’s nothing Aids, I’m not sad.” She said to me not looking in my eyes, and then smiled turning to me.

“Don’t you lie, Aves? I know something was going on in your mind.” I asked sounding serious.

“I’m telling you, it’s seriously nothing. Now, leave this and tell me when did you found out that I am your mate, huh?” she asked me, raising her one eyebrow.

“Uhh..umm…in morning when I was going back to my room, after having slices of bacon in the kitchen while everyone was sleeping. You might have just been there, and I smelled your scent.” I replied to her, shrugging.

“WHAT? Why didn’t tell me before? Since morning I was feeling bad about you getting someone else as your mate and the whole while you knew about us being mates, how can you do that?” She yelled at me furiously, but soon realizing her words, she turned away being embarrassed.

I was at cloud nine right now, with Dev howling happily in my head, listen to her. “You really were sad because you thought someone else would my mate?” I asked her, making her turn to face me.

She was looking down not meeting my eyes, so keeping my finger under her chin, I raised her head to meet my eyes and asked again, “Really you were sad because of this?”  Nodding her head, she replied “Y-Yess”. This one word was enough for me to lose my control and to let emotions take over.  And I crashed my lips on her soft and plump ones.
